Wonderful ambience makes for a great way to spend your time. The authenticity of the place made for a delightful stay as well as a unique experience. Being surrounded by great architecture and jaw dropping interiors ensure you great memories. The staff were beyond delightful in an easy manner guaranteed to make you comfortable. Room sizes are impressive and are maintained and replenished regularly. Attention to small details add so much to your visit - dressing gowns and sarongs, really good range of toiletries, ear plugs, coffee machine, ironing board, pool towels changed every day and steamed sweets are brought to your room (with personal message) on your return in the afternoon. Breakfasts are good and include a Western style buffet, set menu and a full Asian buffet set around the central indoor courtyard.

Depending where your room is, then you need to be out or under cover when the guided tours take place. These provide much needed finance to maintain this historic building. However, it fails to stop the tourists stepping over no entry signs and gawping at you as they take their photos.

The Blue Mansion has been on our bucket list ever since we saw it on a travel show several years ago. So when the opportunity came to stay here, we jumped at the chance. When we arrived, we were welcomed warmly by the staff and told we had been upgrades to the 50s Room. When we got to the room, it was everything and more than what we had hoped for. The room was very spacious with furniture reflecting the 1950s style. The bed was massive, could easily have accommodated 3-4 people at once, although the bed was a little bit on the hard side. The bathroom was nicely appointed and also included a jacuzzi/hot tub. The room also opened out to the garden area which leads to the pool. There's not enough superlatives for me to describe the ambiance and architecture of the mansion, you can see for yourselves in the photos. There's a security guard at the entrance of the property to make sure guests enjoy their privacy, but the Hotel does run a tour of the mansion at 11am and 2pm each day for people who are not guests (also free for guests) who are inquisitive of the mansion's history. Breakfast had good choices for both Eastern and Western, which got your fueled up for the day. The Mansion is also located next door to a hawker market called the Red Garden Food Paradise, which had quite a lot of choices if you're looking for local eats - although I was told, there were cheaper options everywhere within 10mins walk. The Mansion had free WIFI for guests throughout the property for those who can't get away from being connected to the rest of the world.

The only thing I could fault the property on was the bed - it was slightly on the hard side. Apart from that, we loved our stay at The Blue Mansion and wished we had booked for a much longer stay. We're glad we were able to tick this Hotel off our bucket list.

Everything! Staying at this hotel is one of the best experiences you could have while in Penang. Rich in history the building itself is one of the must see in Penang! Room was cool even without aircon on due to the very old tick walls. Air con was a plus. Shower was great, bed and pillows comfortable. Filtered water and daily local sweets (so delicious) were complimentary. Pool was clean and refreshing after a hot day! Breakfast had both Asian and western options (buffet and a la carte). Piano music and Chinese arp live music was played in the evening. Walking distance from art street and lots of eateries and good restaurants. We also tried the Mangga café at the mansion and it was really nice (we had 10% discount as mansion guests).

Beautiful, opulent and luxurious property! I can’t recommend it highly enough - don’t stay anywhere else in Penang! The photos don’t do this hotel justice. This is the best hotel I have ever been too (and I have stayed at many 5 star hotels across Asia and Europe - but none compared to this!). I stayed in the Escoy room which was so ornate, authentic, grand and beautiful! Owing to there only being a small number of guests/only 18 hotel rooms, the whole stay at this hotel felt very personalised and special. The staff are the best I have ever experienced, so attentive and thoughtful! Fantastic complementary tour of the history/museum included for all hotel guests which is definitely worth doing. I loved the attention to detail in the room and all the small touches the staff do. For example, putting fresh local pastries/cakes in your room everyday and each day writing a thoughtful note on a leaf and leaving it in the room. The hotel’s Indigo lounge for dinner had excellent food and their live music in the Mango Cafe was also fantastic! Daniel the hotel manager was an absolute gentleman who ensured my stay was perfect, he was very thoughtful, provided excellent hospitality and nothing was too much trouble. Javed in the Indigo lounge was also great!

N/A - this is the best hotel in Asia! I would go as far as telling people to visit Penang just so they can stay in this hotel.

charming dining area, delightful kuih sent during evening time, friendly staff at the gift shop and Selva. He offered me a tour of the mansion, since i couldn't make it to the scheduled tour. Hotel embraces diversity and inclusivity create opportunities for individual facing challenges. Kudos to that !

Front desk lady did not make me feel particularly welcome. Although she escorted me to the room, her mannerisms lacked warmth. Wi-Fi was subpar, which can be frustrating. Second floor seemed to function more as a storage area than a guests area. Objects were haphazardly thrown to one side. creating an unpleasing sight. considering the price i paid for my stay, this did not meet my expectations.

Of course, it's a beautiful building, and worth the stay for that alone. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pool is small but adequate and the garden is pleasant. The breakfast was good. Location is excellent, on the edge of the heritage area and close to shops and restaurants. Good value for money.

Not much to complain about. Our arrival was a little haphazard - we arrived late and there was no security guard on duty to let us in, but we got there eventually. There is some noise, but it's in the city so that is to be expected and it was not excessive. There are tours through the hotel, but not into the accommodation area so that was fine.

Our recent stay at Blue Mansion was truly wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly and hospitable staff who ensured that we had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with all the amenities we could ask for. The bed was comfortable and we slept like babies every night. The bathroom was also clean and well-stocked with towels and toiletries. The breakfast buffet and à la carte were also a highlight, with a wide selection of delicious food and drinks to choose from. The location of the hotel was also great, with easy access to public transportation and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The Blue Mansion location is great - close to the sea front and the Red Garden food center next door is an awesome entertainment/dining option every night. The rooms are very good and comfortable (quiet during the night, only woken up by the birds singing at sunrise) and the mansion is absolutely gorgeous with lots of places to relax and chill out. Staff is super friendly and the bar and cafe on site are great options for drinks and food.

Enjoyed everything - breakfast has the same menu every day and it would be good if this was changed throughout the week but we don't have any negative comments.

Every detail in the mansion is impeccable. Many people visit The Blue Mansion for a tour, so it feels extra special to stay here as a guest. The staff were so lovely, especially the security guard who was very helpful and friendly every day. The location was in walking distance to everything George Town has to offer. I loved the daily desert that was left. I would highly recommend. I’ve never stayed in such a unique, beautiful hotel.

No complaints, everything was great. Perhaps some more vegetarian options for breakfast would be good, but staff were very flexible to our dietary needs

I’m so glad we had an opportunity to stay 4 nights at the Town House (2 bed) and get a taste of George Town’s heritage. The house is really well placed to explore. The property was equipped to make our stay comfortable and beautifully restored. The house was much more spacious than we expected and less noisy than you’d think for being in town. The staff were accommodating, breakfast at the main hotel, the Blue Mansion, hit the spot too. All in all, great experience.

With the property being traditional, there was little protection from mosquitos. The hotel provide spray and plug ins but we did get all bitten a fair bit regardless. Would also be handy to have two sets of keys provided.
