The evening meals in the hotel's own restaurant were marvellous. My room was on the ground floor which was perfect for me as I have had mobility difficulties during the last year, and cannot manage stairs with comfort. So everything I needed was easily accessible, my room, the restaurant for breakfast (plenty of), and evening meal, and to be able to sit outside by the pool if I wanted to.

Upon arrival I would really have liked to have been offered a mint tea, or just water. I had left my home at 8.30 am and arrived at the Riad Zahra at 7 pm. All the travel went smoothly, no hitches, however a tiring day, nonetheless. A point of surprise was that no drinking water was offered in the room. Those the only negatives, everything else exceeded my expectations.

It was a beautiful place - very clean and comfortable, the pool and surrounding area included. The cleanliness really couldn't be beaten. The facilities were standard but very thoughtfully designed. The restaurant/breakfast service was very assiduous, as were the 'front of house' reception etc. We were very fortunate to have what I would consider the best view - it was great to see the sea and sky from our window. I loved the natural surrounds of the pool (bougainvilla, hibiscus, birds of paradise; lots of bird life including the beautiful song of the bulbul ; the tortoises!).

Nothing! The only thing which could have improved the room was the consistency of water temperature in the shower, but I appreciate this is just one of those things. Perhaps some fruit options with breakfast?

The room was very large and very clean. The pool is really lovely and very clean and a nice haven from the worst of the wind. Breakfast is varied and delicious although the coffee is a little ropey! The 20 minute walk to the medina along the seafront is very nice and if you don't fancy it then a taxi is only 20 dirham.

Our room was nice but it was right next to the terrace which meant there was little privacy and the curtain was very thin. We also got the noise of the terrace in the evening. As young friends this was fine, but for a family it would be annoying. The restaurant is quite geared to standard western tastes which I found a little disappointing as we would rather have had more traditional Moroccan food, but you don't have to walk far to find that.

This is a modest Riad located on a quiet side street just behind the main promenade along the beach (2 min walk to the beach) and around 20 min walk to the Medina. All staff without exception were warm and friendly. Xavier and his wife are around for helpful advice and good wishes for the day. The pool area was very relaxing and peaceful, pool was cold but early in the season. The Moroccan breakfast, while the same each day was all made fresh, tasty and plentiful. Other reviews have commented on the seafood and it is exceptional, fabulously fresh and perfectly cooked, it was the best we have had in such a long time. The lunchtime combo was perfect. Sorry we only booked 4 nights. We hope to come back to wonderful Essaouira and we would definitely stay in Riad Zahra.

We stayed off peak and did not notice any aircon in our room so not sure during summer how comfortable rooms would be. Beds are made up with blankets which we hate and would have preferred a light duvet with option for a blanket if cold. We stayed in a mini suite and was clean and spacious but furnishings are quite tired and more hangers etc would help. We were out most of the time so wasn't an issue.

I had an amazing stay in this Ryad. Javier, the owner was very helpful and attentive to my needs and the rest of the guests. You can tell he enjoys catering to all his guests, always with a smile, striking up conversations and making sure that nothing is left out. The perfect host. I felt very looked after. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious, the pool a plus on windy days. The location is outside the medina at the very end of the beach but only a 25 min. pleasant walk away. I will definitely be back. Mil gracias Javier! I was not able to try the apparently good breakfast because I left half an hour before breakfast time due to an early flight. They provided me with a piece of sponge cake and an apple, hopefully next time.

A very nice family run riad, lovely decorated. We enjoyed the swimming pool area. Great breakfast. The location worked for us as it was a 5 min walk to our surfing center, taxi to the medina was £1-2 ( depending on the driver :). The owners are very nice and accommodating. The only letdown was our room as due to the heavy curtains and various carpets it was very dusty so my allergy kicked off really badly. A constructive comment so hopefully the owners will address this issue. A great value for money.

We've visited Essaouira and stayed at Riad Zahra for 3 nights end of November. Very good quite location close to the beach and sea side promenade. approx. 20 min walk to Medina. Helpful and friendly staff. Cleaning every day. Nice pool area - towels available. Weak but stable WIFI connection. Fireplace in the restaurant. Good breakfast included - the same selection every day but table service. (baguette, butter, soft cheese, jam, honey, yogurt, glass of fresh orange juice, pancakes, choice of omelet or scrambled eggs, good Tea or coffee. Great asset to the place a very good restaurant. If you traveling with kids and don't want to walk in dark after dinner from old town, Riad Zahra restaurant it's all what you need after long day. Great selection of seafood dishes, Moroccan tagine and Spanish cuisine menu. Table booking required especially when ordering tagine. Local wines are good. Impressive Seafood platter for sharing.

1) There is a light in bathroom - but very dark in shower cabin. (Tip: Wait for hot water at least 5 min.) 2) A minus in my opinion - no fruits for breakfast. 3) TV in the room wasn't working or at least I can't get it to work. (but not really bowered about it, as we'eve been very tired after daily adventures).

Excellent Riad, professional staff and management. Generous and good variety of daily breakfast, also fulfilled needs of children who are fussy eaters. Huge thanks to Imad and the kitchen Team, Nourideen, Jofri and Hussain. Fatima Zahrah and the Reception Team always helpful with smile. Souad and her colleagues from auxillary Team always very helpful and caring with the DAILY cleaning service. Water flow in bathroom hand basin was poor, very slow flow. Also the same basin is nice to look at but not easy to use for children as too high. Perhaps a small foot step would help. Madame wife missed a mirror in the bedroom.

Everything! Everything was amazing, from the staff to the cleanliness of the room. The owners are a couple from Andorra and they both speak many languages! Not just few words, they can have a proper conversation in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Arab.. I think this is such a plus! I was amused and impressed! The staff was also very welcoming and attentive to details. The food from the restaurant was also amazing. After 1week of Tajins, we finally had some great seafood. I highly recommend the seafood platter. Definitely one of the best place in Essaouira.

Parking outside the hotel is great. Staff were lovely and the road is beautiful. The restaurant is cosy but a little pricey - we took tea and a lovely breakfast in the morning. Would recommend this hotel to anyone driving into Essaouira and wanting to avoid the town center.

Room was a little chilly but there was a heater provided and once warmed it stayed nice and cosy. We liked the strange shower pod but see why other people found it a bit dark. We would definitely stay here again. Sad that the pool was out of service when we stayed. No complimentary water in the rooms.
