The location is amazing. The hotel is in the heart of the town. We didn’t use public transport, we walked everywhere . We had a family room which was perfect when travel with kids. Two large separate connected rooms one with double bed and the other two single beds. Something difficult to find!

The isolation. We could hear everything from the street. And also the wooden floor make a lot of noise when you walk. The breakfast room was very nice but the breakfast could be better. Just too simple choices and not good quality. Coffee was really bad.

Very pleasant room (240) overlooking two canals. Large view windows. Small balcony too. Quiet with windows closed, given its location. All the staff were pleasant and friendly, especially Wendy, who was most charming and helpful. The breakfast room on the ground level had lovely large picture windows looking out to two bridges and streets. The breakfast itself was help yourself to a range of juices, cereals, fruits, nuts, yogurts, cold cuts, eggs, croissants, bread, toast, fruit to go etc A coffee machine provided a continuous choice of beverages. A separate charming lounge area provided the same (complimentary) choice of beverages on tap all day, usually with biscuits or small sweets too.

The stairs were a challenge for me, yet in the Dutch norm of stairs they were better than average. Carpeted too. So good stairs actually. There was a strange thing that happened with the bed sheets. My lower sheet always seemed to only make it to the edge of the bed which meant it was always coming away from the bed, and crumpled. I mentioned this was a problem a few times. I asked for bigger sheets but was told there was only one size. This was consistently a problem until the last bed change of about 4 (as requested) over a two week stay.

We loved the breakfast- simple, continental but kept us full for most of the day! We loved the large room for 4 people, spacious and just perfect for a city break. Comfortable beds. Staff were super helpful & we loved sitting in the lobby in the comfortable chairs after a long day of exploring and you get free hot drinks from the coffee machine all day! A lovely treat. The canal view is gorgeous. The location was perfect!!! Never more than 10 mins walk from anywhere and there are some really lovely shops and eateries just a stone’s throw away. I personally did not find the stairs a hassle but I am under 30. The hotel does provide lots of warning about the stairs and i am sure some may find more difficult but you get used to it easily!

The bathroom didn’t have a window or a radiator so it can get a little cold and damp but plenty of towel drying space on the 2 large radiators around the room, some condensation on the ceiling but we just kept the door open which was not a bother!!

Stunning canal house. The reception area is beautifully decorated in keeping with the building, traditional. The hotel is situated on a canal which adds to the picture perfect hotel. The staff are absolutely fantastic, happy and helpful. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfortable, much needed after walking all over. Breakfast was very good, my grandaughter loved the pastries and the coffee machine (which did make great coffee and hot chocolate). It was lovely sitting near the windows watching the streets come to life while having a lovely breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel and I would love to come back to visit again. The coffee machine and stroopwaffles in the lounge area a big plus also.

Absolutely perfect location Within walking distance of everything , you want to see in the city. This hotel is bursting with dutch charm. We asked for a canal view and got room 239 which was stunning!!! I actually cried when we walked in.It was so beautiful with windows we could open and listen and watch the bustling activity below. The staff was very helpful and nice and the breakfast athough basic gave us everything we needed to get going for the day.

The hotel is very clear about the steep steps.Which is part of the Dutch charm I am in my late 60s and although I had to go slow.It should not stop you from staying here

We loved our 2 night stay at the Weichmann! The hotel is warm and inviting, and the location is the best - handy to everything especially for walking around and taking in the local sights. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is a good size with large bathtub (much appreciated during a winter visit). The breakfast is good with plenty to choose from. We recommend staying at the Weichmann.

Be prepared for the very steep staircase. It was difficult getting heavy suitcases up to our room.

The hotel was absolutely charming, everything, employees, breakfast, ambience created a treasured experience for my husband and me. The location on a busy corner made you feel you were transported back in time, watching the cyclists attend to their busy days, young families enjoying the day. We walked everywhere, exploring each of the separate neighborhoods. The canals, architecture, and friendly people were more than I even dreamed! Thank you…Wiechmann Hotel..we love Amsterdam

As a couple in our upper 70’s, I found going up and down the typical steep Old World house stairs a bit of a slog…my husband hustled up, but this is all a part of why we don’t stay in newer cookie cutter hotels…the challenges keep you young! We were also made aware before booking

This property is made of a number of historic buildings that have been put together to make the hotel. That means there are a lot of ups and downs. When we booked we missed the fact they didn't have an elevator and they do have narrow stairs, to be fair this information was in the property description, we missed it. When we arrived tired and beat-up from our flight and the time change the person at the desk found someone to help us with our luggage. Thank goodness!~ The location was absolutely great, we could walk everywhere. The streets were quiet at night except on Saturday night but the location made it worth it. From our room we could watch the boats on the canals. The breakfasts were good basic European style buffet.

The location of the hotel is great, right on one of the canals. It has an old world charm, with comfortable common areas and a nice dining room overlooking bustling Amsterdam. We enjoyed walking along the canals and exploring the neighbourhood. It’s a short walk to cafes, restaurants, shops and public transport. WiFi was good. Breakfast was nice.

Our room was a bit old and dated and could do with some refreshing but it was comfortable and roomy. The view was limited and perhaps a canal view room would have been a better option. We were aware that there was no lift but the stairs are very narrow and if you have a heavy suitcase , it may be a challenge.

The property was wonderful and full of character and charm. The rooms with the canal view were excellent and the amount of space was surprisingly generous. The bed was generally comfortable though a bit hot because of the type of sheet. I didn’t find the stairs too challenging, but others should be advised that the warnings about steep stairs are quite accurate.

Nothing was bad, but travelers should pay attention to the fact that there is no A/C and it does get warm if the windows are not open and the sun is coming in. Sleeping with the windows open was fine for us though obviously more noisy from the street.
