The resort is fabulous with great scenic views in the heart of Auckland. The room was huge with nice furniture and balcony to enjoy the lush green rain forest with birds flying around. Mr. Duncan, the GM of the property wowed us checking in very late in night and deliver personally the left over coats demonstrating exceptional customer experience. We had an amazing time there.

Driving in dark at mountain roads and within the property could be a bit overwhelming due to remote location and steep curves.

The size of this beautiful resort set in the middle of the Waitākere ranges away from the business of the city is what caught our eye. We loved hearing all of the wildlife and the breathtaking view from our premier room. The staff are super kind and inviting, very attentive and courteous. The property is well maintained and the massages at Wairua Spa are incredibly relaxing (I was falling asleep lol)

I wish the bar was open later in the weekends. Staying on Saturday we thought the bar would be open until at least 10pm. Other than that I absolutely loved the stay.

Gorgeous hotel with stunning views across the mountains to Auckland. We had room 18 - a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. Beds were SO comfortable and the room very spacious. Staff were wonderful- so friendly and helpful even when rushed off their feet with a full house. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious with excellent service. The walks from the hotel in the surrounding forests were beautiful. Would stay again.

Some of the facilities could be better to match the hotel quality - e.g. pool could be heated, the rower in the gym was broken, the heating element in the sauna needs a wooden surround to make sure no one accidentally bumps into it and burns themselves.

The view from apartments was spectacular and the feeling of tranquility Food was exqisite....(not enough though...lol( Service was impeccable...dinning venue beautiful look out admiring the scenery lounge was just magnificent and when we arrived excellent service from front staff...My self and my Wife had been before we had spa package...so we wanted too bring our kids 20.. girl 15 ...boy and 13 ...boy and 20 month girl (our mokopuna) too exoerience the beautiful setting in the hidden forest venue....enjoy what we experienced a get away and a well deserved vacation.

I suppose we booked kate...but we were near the pool and the kids were in the cottage past the helipad across from the chapel and flood light or street light too would be could for safety environment...our kids after dinner had too make there way from the cottage...but they were un easy because they could not see infront of them "and I quote" "Dad we were scared and we couldn't see the road and I held on too my brothers arm because I was afraid if we fell down the hill drops" .

The front desk and restaurant staff who welcomed us and worked Christmas day were excellent- thank you for such wonderful service. The facilities at this lovely hotel are excellent value for money with a great pool and the gym and sauna areas were so clean and welcoming also. Our room felt enormous and the views from our balcony were stunning- highly recommend!

Despite the front of house staff's best efforts- the kitchen was unable to confirm our special diet Christmas day menu until the very last minute. Reception desk staff could not have been more accomodating or given good service but in the future I think the kitchen should ensure to reassure guests with dietary requirements more. Having said that- the food we did receive on Christmas was delicious and we were very grateful for an excellent meal, just wish we were assured sooner- a minor customer service point in what was otherwise a wonderful stay.

The location, staff,restaurant/restaurant staff and pool were exceptional 👌 👏 It's so peaceful and beautiful, very relaxing. Restaurant & crisp white table cloths,fantastic view and perfectly cooked menu.

Not really a dislike/Pre warning- Be prepared if you are expecting lunch or pre-check if they are serving lunch if you arrive around lunch or early afternoon, Room service from memory is available for small snacks only frm 2pm which caused issues for some quests that weren't prepared that we spoke to during our stay,but otherwise we all agreed fabulous place to stay.

Great location, short drive to Piha and gannets colony, pool, excellent restaurant, amazing if you want to stay West Auckland

Some people were smoking on the balcony and the smell was traveling through all rooms, so maybe have a designated area for smokers not close to bedrooms ( was pure bad luck, as majority of people don’t smoke in NZ), plus the cooking smell was coming under the door from the hallway from the restaurant’s kitchen ( so maybe some door draft stopper would help, as we have to put bags at the bottom of the door to stop the smell in the evening and in the morning )

We stayed in the deluxe room, it reminded us of England It was so classy, neat and comfortable. The staff was absolutely helpful during our whole stay. We got stuck in a ditch and staff helped us get out. We were so grateful to the two old lads who came to the rescue immediately..& the two guests who stayed with us till our car was back on the road ..Thank u so much !! Loved the sauna, the hikes and the smell of fresh linen that filled the hallways.. Would definitely visit again when I get over heights..lol. Absolutely stunning!! Overall an excellent stay !! Highly reccomend!!!

i loved being secluded and surrounded by greenery, it provided so much serenity. I loved the nearby hiking trails and views.

breakfast was bland for me, i voluntarily missed out on a few days of the included breakfast because of lack of variety (but i’m an extremely picky eater). the staff were lovely though. Uber/ride shares are difficult to get due to the location, so if you plan to stay here, hire a car.

Loved the view from our room towards Auckland. Spacious room, gorgeous room Great breakfast and good dinner in restaurant and room service Good bed, good shower, love deep bath. Good price through you, so very happy with value for money. Not too far from Auckland airport.

No cafe or similar during day which we expected from a resort; or suggest - this and/or microwave, toaster and more crockery and cutlery in rooms as lunch service finished at 2pm which was check in time. Knew those items weren’t going to be in room before arrival, but thought there might have been cafe/snack options from the resort during afternoon. Would have liked outdoor spa pools or the swimming pool being heated. Would also have liked more Day Spa appointments to be available so guests have the opportunity to enjoy a treatment while at the accommodation.
