We love the Surrey and have stayed several times before, the customer service is always excellent, the rooms clean and quiet, plus it is close to town.

An extra blanket would have been great

Probably our favourite Auckland hotel so far, and we will go back next time. It had so much character and I loved the decor. Great parking for an Auckland hotel!

No lock on the bathroom door meant that I had no privacy from the kids. Why no lock? It was a hard to get reception desk staff to come to the counter from their back room a few times.

Almost everything was great, friendly staff, cleanliness of the room, parking, comfortable bed, close to shops

Not enough blankets and surprise bond of $150 (which we hadn't been asked for on previous stays)

The Surrey Hotel's location is not bad. There's a famous park named Western Spring nearby. Many events are held at the park. Since we are driving by ourselves, it's also quite close to the fish market. the staff there are quite hospitable and are always ready to answer any questions. We booked the room while the hotel was having promotions. Taking the price into account, we believe it's a great option if you plan to stay in Auckland for a few days.

There are also some unfavorable aspects, such as the location of the reception. It's in an apartment across the busy road. You have to cross this road with heavy traffic to get to the reception. And the swimming pool is a little small.

It was easy to find and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. I found the studio motel unit spacious and comfortable with pleasant decor. The shower was a good size and there was plenty of hot water. I was staying with my special needs adult son and it was a bonus for us to find a unit with two generous sized beds that still allowed plenty of space for a kitchenette, breakfast bar with stools, desk, and small table with two comfy chairs.

I didn't see any information about the motel or what is available in the area. It also took a while to realise where the heat pump was, directly above the window in the kitchenette. A pair of scissors in the utensils drawer would have been useful and I couldn't find a plug for the kitchen sink.

The beds were very comfortable, and we had everything we needed for a short stay. Everything looked and felt clean, and seemed to have been recently renovated. The addition of a double USB ppt was particularly helpful for charging everyone's devices.

Despite having a booking for 3 people, there were only 2 towels, 2 mugs, 2 glasses etc. Housekeeping freely gave us an extra towel, but additional kitchen items would have been handy. There was also no hot choc sachets, and the small pottles of milk are both insufficient and bad for the environment. A small carton would have been better. There were notes regarding paper recycling but not glass/plastic/cans. We had all of these items and had to take them with us to find recycling bins.

We were in rooms across the road. Very spacious. Room was clean. We were going to an event at Western Springs and it was very handy for that, plus good food and dairies a few minutes away. Also not too far from Ponsonby Road and K Rd, about 30 min walk or a few minutes drive.

Just a few things let the rooms down. No toilet brush, the latch in my bathroom window was missing, the floor was quite creaky, the fridge waa very noisy at night, there was a weird smell in the room when I arrived. But I would still stay again if going to a Western Springs event.

Room was good, clean and tidy. Minor annoyance was what sounded like something dripping on to the air con's external cabinet. It wasn't raining, so not sure where it came from. It was intermittent, and a tad annoying. I didn't mention it to staff at the time, so they had no opportunity to check/remedy.

Advertised as having a gym. Gym was closed due to much of its equipment being broken/damaged. Staff weren't aware of this when I queried gym availability. Didn't seem to be a recent development, and the X-trainer seemed and sounded seized. There was a sign at the far end of the gym, saying the gym was closed, citing broken equipment. The gym door was open during gym hours, but clearly was more like a storage room for broken gym equipment. One of the reasons for chosing this location was the gym. Disappointed.

Lovely little hotel with across the board genuinely kind staff. Room was spacious and clean if a little dated. Location was amazing, couple of nice cafes within walking distance and land easy drive to CBD and other attractions. Kids loved the little pool in the courtyard and the library next to the lobby (they gave the little bulldogs pats every chance they got!) Such a great place for our family to celebrate our daughters 6th birthday!

There was a bit of street noise. The beds were definitely on the older side but still comfortable enough for a one night stay.

The location was very central to everything we were doing. The price was absolutely great, especially as a family who cant afford to get away often. Room was comfortable and homey clean and modern . Good close parking right outside. Felt safe and secure , especially with children. There is a pub/cafe so if you don't know what you want to have a choice right there. We liked it enough that it will now become our first choice when staying in Auckland.

We knew there was no kitchenette in our room. But there was a little jug /tea/ coffee alcove... Would have been awesome if there had been a microwave aswell to heat food so we had an alternative to eating out. I don't know if its an Auckland winter thing but windows were heavily condensed in the morning to the point of dripping. It didn't affect us , just noted it. Also for me personally, the beds were a tad hard. Ok if you like that - my partner had a great sleep. I woke up stiff both mornings and it felt like I had bruised ribs (tummy sleeper) but this is a just a preference and not necessarily a bad thing.
