Everything! I liked it so much I have to itemise this review because I have so much to say: Location: a residential area close to restaurants and a shopping centre, but the central Christchurch area was not far away. It was quiet at night but still close enough to the centre that it was easy to get buses or taxis whenever needed. It’s also not a far drive from the airport! Facilities and layout: there were 4 of us staying in one of the 3-bed apartments across the road from the main manor. These apartments were perfect for us— very clean, modern, comfortable and well-equipped. Each unit was 3 floors high. Our unit had one big main bedroom + ensuite bathroom on the bottom floor, the living room/kitchen on the middle floor, and two bedrooms + one bathroom on the top floor. The kitchen area had a dishwasher, stove + oven, microwave, and separate washing machine + tumble dryer. We were staying 4 nights so it was nice to feel like we had a private home away from home. The stairs are a bit narrow and there was no lift so you may need to consider that when booking, but we were able to bring our suitcases up with no problem. The ceiling in the downstairs toilet is angled so maybe don’t put your tallest person in that bedroom. Staff: I cannot stress enough how great the staff are. They’re friendly and welcoming, but also really responsive to any requests for help and even helped us figure out how best to get to the airport for an early morning flight. They told us from the start where to find good places to eat nearby and gave their own recommendations too. I would absolutely book this place again next time I’m in Christchurch!

Wayne is the perfect host, helpful and friendly, went beyond expectations on making us feel welcome. The room was clean and well equipped, we stayed in the apartments alongside the access road. This is a good location to explore the city and there are restaurants and cafes nearby. The rooms are quiet apart from in the morning when there was some noise from guests departing etc. We liked the daily room servicing and had a great stay.

The noise in the morning but this was not unacceptable. The bikes could do with servicing, although it was great to ride one around the city park in the morning and they re free.

Merival Manor excellent. Error with booking.com as bought the room as advsertised this would include breakfast which was essential ofr our familty as it was Christmas day and no other facilities open to us - this was not offfered by the hotel and did not appear on the final confirmation. Error is missold accomodation via the website which was dissaspointing,

Everything about this property was delightful. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The apartment was clean, well appointed with high-level decoration and furnishings. it was an easy walk to local restaurants or a bar for a refreshing drink

The only downside was the road noise at Pete period but this could be addressed by closing the double glazed windows

This was perfect for pre wedding for the bride and bridesmaids with plenty of room for hair and makeup. Nothing was a problem for the owners including finding a spare phone charger. Everything was absolutely beautiful. There were flowers by the bed when we arrived back from the wedding and linen had been changed and room serviced even though we didn't leave until after 5pm

A terrific place to stay - an old-fashioned feel with all mod coms. Lovely and helpful folk, plus a really good information folder. Good places to eat just a five minute walk away, and the centre of Christchurch is a 15-20 minute stroll. (And the drive to the airport is a breeze!)

The Merivale Manor is located in a little suburb about a twenty minute walk from central Christchurch. It is, however, very close to a number of good restaurants and shops, so no need to trek into the CBD for meals.

The manor is located on a busy street, but it did quiet down in the evening.

lovely rustic property, which was well furnished and very comfortable. very friendly manager who took the effort to remember our names and provide tips about Christchurch.

Pleasant stay. Comfortable beds. Able to catch up with our laundry. Friendly , knowledgeable staff. Thank you all for your hospitality. Close to Christchurch central. Bus service right outside hotel.

The property was excellent externally. The room I got was very comfortable. Best pillows ever!! I made a mistake with my booking but I still got service and a room. The set up in the room is exceptional. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable a pity I was too tired to use the spa bath. The food was fresh and there was just a touch with a flower that made me think of a f5 star in Paris. Everything you could want was there. I cancelled my other booking coming back from Picton so I could stay 2 nights here. The hosts are simply the best. Next time I come to Christchurch I will stay here and it's a short drive from the airport. Did I mention that I simply loved this place????
