Tuscana Motor Lodge

This was our second stay at Tuscana Motor Lodge as we were completing our Christchurch to Christchurch loop. This time we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor, which was even nicer than the ground floor apartment we had previously, as the bed was larger and it came with a balcony where you could sit and enjoy the outlook. The apartment was very clean, spacious and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent with a very decent shower. We really enjoyed chilling out on the 2 sofas in the lounge room. We made use of the excellent laundry facilities which include an LG front loader (I prefer this to the usual commercial top loading washing machines at motels) and an LG dryer. Parking was great and the motel is well located, being a short walk to the CBD and close to cafes and restaurants. We managed to avoid using the car on the second last day when we explored Christchurch. The hosts were friendly and helpful as always. We enjoyed our stay here and it is one of our favourite motels in South Island and we stayed at 9 motels in all during our 15 day trip.

Well positioned to walk to all CBD and nearby cafes. The staff is amazingly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The decor of or room was tasteful and restful and very comfortable. It was warm and well equipped to make it warmer with extra duvet and pillows in the wardrobe and electric blankets on the bed. There was also a portable heater. The kitchenette was screened by doors and was well designed. The bathroom had a heater, extraction fan and heated towel rails. The comfy upholstered chairs were a plus. Plenty of choice on where to park. We had room 5. It was fitted with mobility rails in the bathroom.

No negatives

The bed was very comfortable, there was good wardrobe space, and the living area had two comfortable sofas and a large coffee table. The unit was tastefully decorated, with many thoughtful touches. The kitchenette was well equipped, with a good range of utensils, a microwave and a very good electric frypan. The manager was extremely helpful when we both came down with Covid three days into our stay, and provided us with ample fresh linen and basic kitchen supplies. We had an upstairs unit and it was very quiet. The heater in the living room was effective and easy to use.

It would have been helpful to have had an instruction booklet for the convection microwave, so we could have done more than the basic functions. The kitchenette is quite small, but adequate for simple meals. An exhaust fan in the bathroom and towel rails would be helpful.

We stayed one night in the one bedroom unit upstairs and liked it so much we came back again and stayed another night. Very comfortable roomy unit with two couches in the lounge area plus dining area and kitchenette. The king bed was super comfortable and there was a TV in the bedroom as well as the lounge. Very friendly welcoming hosts. Will definitely stay here again on our future trips to Christchurch.

Great location - easy, safe 20 minute walk from town & easy access by car. Several restaurants (an excellent Thai one) and a late night general store close by (very useful). Rooms were very good & some had separate sitting room & bedrooms and good facilities. Staff very friendly & helpful. Bed very comfortable, but pillows too soft. Windows could open in bedrooms & bathroom so nice to have fresh air. Rooms all had little kitchenettes with microwave, hot plates, sink & good crockery/cutlery. Very useful.

Pillows were too soft. I would have liked a firmer pillow. I would have liked some tissues in the bedroom or bathroom. Also my bedroom had frosted glass which I hate. I like a view and to be able to see the sky and hopefully some trees or plants or a nice view from my bed, but with frosted glass you can't see anything. Quite claustrophobic - for someone who prefers to sleep with the curtains open. The living room looked across the car parking to the road which wasn't too bad, but too many street lights to sleep in there, with the curtains open. That's the only complaints. Everything else excellent.

Our apartment was very clean, quiet and spacious, with a comfortable bed. The kitchenette is well equipped and the lounge room has 2 decent sized sofas. Parking was excellent. The motel is conveniently located near cafes and restaurants, and is a short 15 min walk away from Christchurch CBD. The hosts were friendly, helpful and informative and we really appreciated the arrangements made for us to access our room at midnight after a late flight!

Nothing really!

Convenient location close to the central city with free parking. Room was very clean and had all the amenities we required for a short stay. We were able to book a room with 2 bedrooms which each had 2 beds – this was a challenging configuration to find but worked great for our adult family group and made it a great value for money.

The bathroom and shower were good however note the shower is a shower/bath combo, and has a fairly high bathtub edge to climb over. I was travelling with my elderly grandad who did manage to climb in, however this maybe challenging for those who have mobility issues or are elderly.

We loved our short stay at Tuscana Motor Lodge. It was well-located, about a 15-minute walk from the city centre. Our room and bathroom were both clean and spacious, and we liked how light and airy the space was. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful, and allowed us to check-out a bit later (which we really appreciated!). We would certainly recommend it!

The wee kitchenette area could use an upgrade, but it had everything you needed!

The unit was a delight - separate bedroom, comfortable sofas, dining table, well-appointed kitchen area. The spa bath was the highlight after a week touring around the top of the south island. Plenty of towels (on heated towel rail) and pillows. Bed was firm and comfortable. Parking was available at the door. We thought there might have been an issue with traffic noise but this was not the case. Would happily stay here again.

A spacious, clean and comfortable motel room in a handy location 10-15 min walk to the city centre. Carpeted and quiet with non squeaking doors to bedroom and bathroom. A separate relaxing lounge area was such a bonus. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Bed super comfy and fan in bedroom was more than enough for those rare hot nights. We arrived after midnight and could go straight to room after prior correspondence and very prompt organisation.

Wish we could have stayed longer!
