The room was clean and quiet. The staff at Ocean Beach were lovely and very helpful. They were also great about letting us use their laundry facilities when we needed rather than us having to go and find a laundromat. Room was decent sized and in an easy to find location. Wifi was included in price of room and easy to connect to.

Bed not so comfortable, I found it too hard especially with my back issues. The ensuite while not as bad as one in Whakatane (even my 11-year-old did not fit in the Whakatane loo) was definitely a little on the smaller side - would have been handy to have a basin that could sit toothbrushes on. Also, a small fridge to keep drinks in & a microwave would be nice.

Always very clean. Perfect location to the ice rink which is why I always come here when attending ice hockey games. Bus stop is practically on the doorstep. Food is great across at the hotel. I've never had any issues with noise from there. The room is basic, but comfortable. No microwave, but fridge, jug and toaster.

Only issue was the WiFi dropping out at one point, but not the end of the world.

A very spacious room with a most comfortable bed plus an enormous shower with plenty of hot water. Well equipped and, with the hotel very near, no problems catering. Surprisingly quiet considering the location of the main road.

If there had been a small sink in the main room, or a larger one in the bathroom, the washing up would have been much easier.

Comfortable surroundings, great location, great restaurant with very good value food, nice bed, good facilities, great shower

Nothing to dislike, the hotel doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is .... good economical accommodation, in a good location, with a great restaurant

Liked that the hotel was close to all amenities being local shops near .Also the people that manage the hotel very kind & hospitible . Everything was so tidy , and heating was just absolutely wonderful having air-con as well lighting for both outside and inside . And just the interior was with excellence quality of Lay-out. The proximity to the city was great, with a small 5 minute walk to the beach. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and the bar attached to the hotel was great to celebrate New Years Eve in. Meals at the restaurant were very large portions at a reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again.

The only issue we had was the wifi played up for a bite during the day, but we went exploring instead.

Very helpful host, friendly service. We stayed one night, it was fine for our needs, basic but clean and a very good shower. Bed was really comfortable. We had dinner there, well cooked pub food and excellent value. We would stay there again.

The heat pump was a bit noisy, fixed it with a piece of folded cardboard!

Just one night here but it was a pleasant stay. Good value for money and comfortable beds. The blackout curtain was appreciated and led to a very good sleep. The shower water pressure very nice and good tea/coffee making facilities. Nice location near the beach.

I think the windows and general insulation of the rooms especially the bathroom could be improved. A little humid and drafty. Perhaps a few pot plants/garden would give the building a more welcoming feel.

The beds were comfortable neat and tidy, shower was old but it was functional and did its job. The room had a chair that my hubby loved and said he would get one too..hihi....the location was perfect so close to beach and city centre.

Wifi was down for a while...maybe upgrade on services for this.

Surprisingly quiet, cosy little room. I was solo so there was enough space.

Parking was not allocated in front of room, so the poor person in the room I had to park in front of (only park left) got an early morning wake up when I started the car at 4.30am. I felt bad about it but it couldn't be helped.
