Quiet spot, easy self check-in. Nice facilities. Private. Nice little kitchenette. Nice touches and they left a couple of homemade cookies, which was great. If you're looking for a personal space with a comfortable feel it's a great option.

It's a sleepout at someone's house so that comes with pros and cons. It felt a bit like staying in a friend's spare apartment or batch. Everything important was clean, but a bit of dust around the edges maybe, and that sort of thing. Location is convenient to the highway and shops but a few k's from the beach if that's what you're looking for.

Everything. 🙂This was the perfect place to stay. It had everything you need. A fully equipped kitchen with bread, jams, yoghurt, fruit juice, coffee, tea,& a bottle of fresh milk were provided for breakfast. There was an outdoor bath that looked amazing but didn't have time to use it! A lovely outdoor area with table, chairs & a hammock. The bed was really comfortable. There were heaps of books, games, etc. The attention to detail was brilliant. Dale was such a lovely host & she drove us to the venue for the wedding we were attending. We would definately stay here again.

The garden outlook and the outdoor lighting near the entrance. The well laid-out interior and wall coverings. The breakfast choices including the wonderful NZ bread and condiments such as marmalade.

A dog has moved into the vicinity and barks periodically during the day and night. Otaki's growing noisy road vehicle population - the place is not as peaceful as it once was. Otaki's best pie shop closes during school holidays.

Breakfast foods like the top quality NZ bread and spreads along with orange juice and yogurt for the wholesome cereal made a great start to the day. The view from the verandah over a well kept lawn to a tree-lined backdrop was very relaxing. The quiet fan heater, refrigerator and neighborhood cemented the quiet ambience of the retreat.

The most obvious storage spaces (bedside tables) were occupied by video tapes. One bedside table is very small - my watch slid off the lamp standard base, bounced off the table top and fell to the floor. (Mickie Mouse is now looking for his seventh digit.) Otaki restaurants are vanishing and have been replaced by food bars/cafés. Eating an absolutely tasty roast lamb dinner in a food bar is the definition of ambientlessness - but the taste of the gravy and mint sauce simply transports you to another place in space and time - totally - period.

Sundari Retreat is a romantic Oasis, hidden away down a long drive. It faces onto a beautiful quiet garden, with seating options and an outside bath. The drive is narrow, however, it easily facilitated our Prado! Inside the Retreat, Dale has thoughtfully furnished and equipped it to meet the small space and to make it feel as if you were far from the Kapiti Coast, somewhere in Malaysia or Indonesia. The Kitchenette has everything one would need from making a cold drink to cooking a meal. Breakfast is included in the price and again Dale had thoughtfully provided more than the usual one can expect of a continental breakfast! It is a small house/sleepout, however, with access to a covered deck, patio area, and garden, we could have easily stayed at the little oasis of tranquility for a week: regretfully this was just an overnight stop. We even heard a Morpork! We would highly recommend Sundari for couples as a Romantic stay or a night stop before catching the ferry ( with the new road opened it only took us 40minuts to get to the /ferry terminal)

Nothing! if only we could have stayed longer!

The location is set well back off the main street. The property is a convenient short walk to the main street shops and a short drive to Otaki Beach. The property is well maintained, quiet and very comfortable. There was a well stocked selection of breakfast supplies. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay.

Being right outside the owners house, we had to keep our blinds closed for privacy but she was so lovely to us when we arrived thou.

Nice and cozy atmosphere with a Balinese touch, lots of privacy, I had no problems reaching it by bus, but there is enough space if you come by car. Very considerate and friendly host, attention to detail, just a nice place in lovely Ōtaki. Also not far from shops, restaurants and supermarket.

Location was excellent and the property was easy to find. Very handy to shops, cafes and main highway but very quiet. Breakfast was substantial and well presented. Hostess was very thoughtful.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

We had the most wonderful stay, we were moving back to the North Island with our cats so finding this place was amazing. We really appreciated the heating being on as we arrived off the ferry late and our cats were very keen to get out of their cages. The lovely host was amazing and this place was a hidden gem, the breakfast items were great and made it so much easier for us not having to find food in our very full car.
