Copthorne suited our needs perfectly - we were in QT for 4 days 3 nights for a wedding and didn’t spend a heap of time at the hotel. The room was large, the balcony and view were lovely, lots of fresh air. Easy walk into town. The staff were friendly.
The hotel is a bit tired looking and could do with a renovation however for the price point and our needs this trip this wasn’t an issue.

Breathtaking views. Friendliness of all the staff and free parking.
The maintenance is truly lacking. Sofa has Multiple Big stains on it, carpet is filthy, and the rooms upstairs are really hot. there is no air-conditioning and opening the balcony doors didn’t help because there were SO MANY insects. I requested for a fan and was given only ONE small deal fan (when there are 2 bedrooms). Reception said that it is only one per apartment which really didn’t make sense when I have 2 bedrooms and the top floor is intact the hottest level. Small desk fans aren’t expensive and if they can’t provide air conditioning I’m sure they can invest in more desk fans!

The vicinity of the hotel is close to the centre. Walking distance to shops. We stayed in a lake view room and loved every time we look out our patio/outdoor area and admire Lake Wakatipu. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were able to help us book one of our tour to Milford Sound- hassle free and got picked up outside the hotel.
We had a lot of large luggages- international travellers, the room that they gave us were on the other wing. From the car park to the lift was a bit of challenged as we have to go up to the top floor and cross to the bridge to get down to our level to reach the level of our room. Also, their restaurants are not open all the time- I think only in the morning. The bar is only open for 3 days as well. We had to use Uber most of the time as our days are busy with activities and unable to go to the city centre on most nights.

Nice views of the lake and mountains, big room, comfortable bed. Nice welcoming reception. We booked very last minute, so it was pricey, but not too bad for QT. We didn’t use any facilities or the bar so can’t comment. Parking was free and seemed to have sufficient number of spots.
Parking exit/entry was a bit confusing at first and no access to the inside from the lower level, has to walk around to the front door. Maybe some modern locks can be installed? Carpets in hallways are a bit tired, dark carpet in the room, peeling paint on the outside balcony. None of it was a real issue though and didn’t bother us overall for this stay, but just to say that if updated the property will really shine.

Comfortable.and clean hotel, Hotel style is a little old skool but I was happy with that. Location was handy and staff were friendly. After reading in some reviews that some rooms had minimal lake views, I messaged ahead to request a lake view and were advised that they would try to put us in a higher level floor..We were given a room with a stunning view of the lake and mountains so would recommend asking.
The road works are currently right outside and noisy. This is outside of the hotel's control but did impact our enjoyment a bit. The road works also meant that the hotel can't be accessed without crossing the road. For anyone with mobility issues, it would be worth checking out if these are still ongoing. Paint on the deck was peeling and looking a bit shabby

The ground floor large rooms only have a view of the Mountains or the large garden on the patio area in our case. The lake can be seen on higher floors. The room was dated but very clean with housekeeping doing a very good job. The location of the hotel is close to town to walk to however the navigating of the roadworks around the hotel was a task as was the very steep hill in Stanley St on the way to town. Not for the faint hearted. Apparently the roadworks will be going for another couple of years. The staff were informative but very corporate and didn't upsell the hotels features.
Bar /Cafe opening times was inconsistent. The restaurant is only open for breakfast. Decor in common areas is dark and tired, in need of a refurbish. Mould in the shower would be easily fixed. Late checkout not available.

There are many, many... I mean many places to stay in Queenstown for a variety of budgets and dependent on where you would like to be located. Driving around Queenstown is not easy because of the amount of traffic, pedestrians and parking; walking is a better option. The rooms at the Lakeview had good views of the lake and mountains. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large and useable. Parking was great and because you could leave your car there and walk to Queenstown it was helpful. The reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful. Having a bar/restaurant was helpful on a rainy day so you didn't have to walk in inclement weather or navigate the roads with others.
There was also a great view of construction happening on the road but that is only temporary and hardly the fault of the Hotel. What is in the purview of the Hotel and their staff was cleaning and maintaining of the rooms. I found an empty beer can and a charging cable in the wardrobe of the room from previous occupants.

The room was fantastic for a family of four having two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms and toilets. It was roomy and comfortable and the view was amazing. It was pretty noise proof given guests either side and being on a busy road. We also loved the beds and pillows. They were the most comfortable of all of our stays over two weeks and I want to buy the same pillows as they were so good!
The TV in the master bedroom didn't work very well and couldn't be turned off with the remote. There was construction work outside which closed the footpath however that wasn't really a problem.

Great views, good value for money staff are excellent. The room was very tidy and clean with everything provided was fresh.
The room was VERY stuffy and felt like 4000 degrees inside even with the window open. Unfortunately, we couldn't open the sliding door due to the rain. We didn't get to sleep till 330am. Whoever designed the building needs talking to just wish the outer area was more open so we could see into town and the surrounds instead its sealed off like a prison let alone not clean on the outside there is moss growing on the outside on the building which you can see from the main road.
