Bar and restaurant were great : good food and great service. Pool complex is really nice...great location across the road from the new Wairakei Terraces and Huka Falls a short drive away

My family loved the heated pools, you are able to jump straight in and not worry about it being cold. The views from room are gorgeous of the expansive mature gardens/grounds. The playground was a good distraction also. The food was delicious! especially the mocktails which my son could not get enough of. Value for money! You couldn't find better value for money when it comes to accommodation in Taupo! Close to everything!

This is the second time we have stayed at the property and we love it except for a few minor things The outside bar near pool was not open at all during our stay There was no music playing outside near pool The bar/restaurant inside does not open till 3pm. I realise these are minor things but nonetheless these things make the atmosphere fun and made us feel like we were on holiday last time we stayed here.

The pool was amazing aswell as the fitness centre and the beds we amazing. the bar and restaurant was amazing however could be a little cheaper for value. I love the concept of eco friendly housekeeping and the use of efficient and eco friendly shower products and packaging. the staff was amazing and super helpful

I didnt appreciate that the tennis court, other heated pool and gold course was not open and I feel like it should be advertised as so, as this was not made known to me while booking. The floors in the room were very creaky and the bed sheets were very loose as if the bed wasnt made properly. Our bed also only had two pillows on it and no cushions. I feel as though any proper accommodation, especially for the price we had paid, should have a properly made bed and two pillows per person, equalling four pillows. The pictures of the room in advertising showed 4 pillows on the bed with decorative cushions aswell and we had none. The porch could use a little more aswell. I absolutely loved our stay however i feel as though it was a little underwhelming for the price of it.

The staff are super lovely, helpful and attentive, and the location is perfect - if you're looking for a bit of breathing room instead of battling it out in the township, this accomodation is peaceful and has beautiful surroundings. And town is less than a 10 min drive. Stayed in a room, which had a lovely garden area outside of our patio. The breakfast buffet is always lovely, but sadly, we didn't get a chance to enjoy this as we had to leave early before 6:30am.

The accommodation is comfy, but is in definite need of a refresh. Some of the glasses in the kitchenette were not very clean.

So appreciated the staff finding a room for us at very late notice after a long drive, very helpful. Room clean and high quality linens, good wifi and TV options. Always like staying at Wairakei as it feels like a family hotel, and having the heated pool a bonus with the kids.

Sad to see the outside spa pool complex no longer in use, had previously been a drawcard for winter holiday breaks. The bathroom wallpaper and carpet edges in our room were tired and in need of some maintenance, although the price paid reflects that it is probably one of their older backup rooms. Did not detract from our experience, would stay again.

Despite many bad reviews left recently on the Wairakei Resort web page, our stay was exactly the opposite. Yes, the whole complex is dated and in a need of overhaul, carpets in particular, but overall clean and maintained. One should consider staying there like traveling back in time and visiting the crown jewel this resort once was.

Loved the location: quiet and built in a time when the owners were ambitious. The pool was also very relaxing. We had problems and I felt sorry for the staff as this was not of their doing. The staff were pleasant; helpful and polite

This place has the feel that it is being run by faceless accountants who won't pay the money to run this place properly. Having queued to checkin at 420pm there weren't enough staff at reception. When we got to our room, it hadn't been cleaned. Give credit to the reception staff, they did address the problem to our satisfaction.

Wairakei is resort accommodation located around 8klm from Lake Taupo. It is an extremely quiet location and well appointed with geothermal swimming pools and a number of smaller spas. We arrived later than expected (thanks to good old Jetstar) and went straight to the restaurant which has a pretty good menu and reasonable pricing given you somewhat out of town. I had booked multiple rooms for family members and there was a bit of confusion on check-in but this was sorted out with an upgrade for my wife and I from a Studio King to a large King apartment with an adjoining kitchen and lounge area. In hindsight, the Studio King was the wrong choice anyway and you are better off with one of the twin style rooms. The large thermal swimming pool was the star of the day and we spent a lot of time in it as it is the warmest outdoor swimming pool we have ever swum in. There is a well appointed gym and a tennis court with adjacent 9 hole golf course but we did not utilise these.

The hotel was nice but severely run down in some areas with the thread backing of the carpet showing through the pile. This gives a bad first impression for what is a grand old hotel. As said, the pool is the star but there are a number of spas. These are more like the home spas of the 80's being a fibreglass shell that will struggle to take 4 people. Stick to the pool.

The receptionist was very accommodating and found us another room, even though it was almost fully booked. Dinner was excellent at the Geyser, lovely wine on the menu, and we enjoyed the spa and sauna.

My sister had changed our booking over the phone the day before and quoted an additional amount for a larger room but when we got there the change hadn't been made, so we had to book and pay for another whole room. The refrigerator in our room (906) had been turned off and as there wasn't a label on the switch we didn't realise nor know how to turn it back on, so nothing stayed cold.

The hotel was really nice and facilities were great. The location was perfect as everything was within 10/15 mins drive. My family enjoyed our little holiday home very much :) We would definitely book here again.

We stayed for 4 nights our room was not cleaned once which was a little disappointing as in the info it said it would be cleaned on the 3rd night. There were no towels available when requested at reception prior to going to the outdoor pool.
