The Avenue

I had asked for a quiet room when booking as I was there for the Marathon the next day. The hotel upgraded my room to an upstairs one. It was so peaceful & the bed comfy. Had a bath which I used prior to Marathon. Receptionist was EXCELLENT & it was great to see the Avenue Hotel has extended these weekend hours (after I had stayed last year also where Reception closed at 2.00 pm Saturday) Now 8.00 pm. I would LOVE to have spent another night. I was also able to use the Guest Laundry for washing clothes. Take pegs if you want to hang outside. Dryer was busy.

The TV in the room was old (Acer) & it took a long time to change chanels, which was frustrating. The hotel restaurant & bar was closed due to fire & renovation. I very much enjoyed my dinner there the previous year. Look forward to using their restaurant next time.

We liked that you had a pool, and was walking distance to a lot of supermarkets. The room was spacious for our family of 4! Oh also, when we requested for a tax invoice- they were so prompt with their response. It was great. The laundry was real handy too.

Saturday was really hot- so the fact that it didn’t have an AC. The fan helped a little, but it just circulating hot air. The iron was a bit faulty and it took us about 5 tries to get the board to stand.

The TV didn't go on the channel we wanted to watch on our last night, down to the desk and they came up to the room straight away and fixed it. Excellent service. Clean and tidy, comfortable bed, great shower are our main considerations and they had those. Nice friendly staff always helps, they also had them. Nice and quiet, big room with a fridge. Next door pretty much to 3 supermarkets and fast food 5 min walk. City and sights just short drive.

I liked the facilities, especially the bathroom of the executive suite very nice how spacious and very modern the shower and spa bath were amazing the breakfast was on point and a yummy very good selection. Also, I liked that they had a friendly hotel cat I hope they keep her there and look after her it adds a sense of character and a homily feeling to the place and that future guests treat her well. The staff was amazingly friendly and awesome I can't thank them enough thank you so much for letting myself and partner stay

The bed was a bit too soft but that's algoods and there wasn't very many channels on the tv but other than that it was a very good stay

Everything overall was fantastic. I love the cleanliness. I love how its so central, walking distance to everything, all three supermarkets right outside the door, food joints, op shops, short walk to town center etc. One of the reception ladies is super nice & so friendly & helpful. Perfect location.

Tiny milks for your tea & coffee but the 2nd day they put a small plastic bottle in with much more milk which was great! Little fridge doesn't go very cold. Would be awesome if all rooms could have a heatpump so you can stay nice and cool in summer as their fans don't provide enough cooling relief and the rooms can get quite hot & stuffy. ...but apart from that... we love this place, have been here twice now.

Always stay here which says it all.

The lack of safety catches on sliders windows . Was a bit stuffy and always lie an opening window but no safety catches which made it risky to leave open but receptionist came to the rescue with a piece of wood to put in the slud grove ao we coud leave it open a little. Aporeciated the extra effort she went to. Otherwise very comfortable and amazing shower. A shame under renovation and missed their great breafast this time.

Location Seperate bathrooms off the 2 bedrooms and kitchen / lounge in-between... Suited our needs perfectly

Ripped net curtain still hanging up while they wait to replace it Devalued the niceness of the unit, a bit in our opinion Also Altho we know what they are trying to achieve for their overalll clientell, with their harsh stance and costs threatened on their no parties, no noise policy, we found that rather offensive, and may not haven chosen to stay there if we had been aware of it sooner, as paying customers. Never had we seen this before in any hotels/motels we had stayed at and while we respect other people's needs and expect others to respect needs on our special time when staying away, it somehow put a different feel to the place, by us. More like Not so user friendly... No fault of the staff But We would propably think twice before staying there again because of this.

Good range of cereal, juices, bread etc. for breakfast. Good choice of hot food too. Our room had been renovated and was great, especially the wonderful bedside light! It was great to arrive in a clean attractive room with lovely afternoon sun and no road noise discernible.

Coffee machine was broken in the dining room so useless for breakfast ☹️ The carpet up the stairs was dirty and the unpainted wall in reception looked very unattractive. The bedroom door needs to be fixed with a draft seal and also rubber seal around the frame as light and noise from the hallway are a real problem. The shower head (room 14) should be replaced as it shoots water over the bathroom floor , up the door and out to the carpet. The bathroom ceiling paint is already peeling probably because of the water on the floor and the the grout around the bath is dirty. It lets down the attractive tidy bedroom and will make things worse if it’s not remedied.

The location was good, the staff was good everyone was nice and easy to approach. The room was quiet and was right next to an exit so it made parking easy and moving our stuff out easier.

The wifi connection wasn’t great because we were on the furthest room away so the wifi kept dropping in and out. The TV was old and small with limited channels but it wasn’t a big deal as we weren’t really watching TV.

The room was nice and clean and location was excellent travelling with a car. Shops nearby. Wi-Fi was good - I had zoom-meeting to Europe and everything worked beautifully.

Nothing really. There was lots of traffic outside the hotel, but no noise inside. But if you’re looking for countryside landscapes, drive further. For us this was perfectly located, clean and beautiful accomodation.
