Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast and took one meal in the restaurant in the evening which was very good.

When we checked in we were given room 454 in the attic. The room was quite small and cramped and the air vent blew cold air direct onto the bed and was very cold all night and could not be controlled, certainly not the deluxe room we had booked. We complained and given a much nicer room the following day but no discount offered when checking out. The restaurant is closed on Sun & Mon evenings despite the hotel being busy which given how busy the nearby local eating houses are did cause to some minor issues to start with

Being a historical building the room was part of the roof line - complete with dormer skylights that not only opened but had blinds that allowed darkness at night. The room was very spacious with a large comfortable bed, a couch, a chair and a desk with the amenities expected - kettle and fixings to make coffee or tea. The bathroom was large - 2 sinks! It was a delightful room and - this is not the usual anymore - daily cleaning service to the room. Ahhhh so nice. The breakfast was wonderful - so many choices - excellent. We would return definitely and I highly recommend this hotel. Walking distance to everything in Bryggen. The light rail train from the airport took us within 4 blocks of the hotel so we were able to roll our suitcases there.

I really don't think anything could have been better.

We love this hotel, the location is fabulous and the hotel is charming. The breakfast is outstanding and the restaurant really excellent from food to service.

We stayed in what is called a junior suite. The room was a loft room which meant that the ceilings are slanted and there was a staircase from the door up to the room itself. My husband is tall so caution needed to be exercised when climbing into bed! There were no windows other than the skylights, none of which could be opened so it felt a little claustrophobic. The room itself is full of charm, and the furnishings in character.

When we first checked in,I asked for a quiet room. We were given one on the fourth floor. It was quiet, but because it was the top floor, it was hot. There were only two tiny windows, about a foot square. We spent the night. I couldn’t stand the stuffiness, didn’t sleep at all and requested a room change for the second night. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They completely understood and switched us to a terrific room-336. They reacted in a professional way, making us feel valued. The second room was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge, and the two big windows were a welcome change. They faced the street of restaurants, but it was Sunday and we didn’t have the noise problem we might have had on a Saturday night.

Our first top floor room was awful.

Breakfast, location, and staff were all lovely. Room was large, especially for a European hotel room, though somehow not quite comfortable. I loved the Nespresso machine! They also managed to get the room free of my allergens (wool and down).

Never stay in central Bergen on a Saturday night! People were cheerful and having fun, but the party didn't shut down until 2:45 am. Not the fault of the hotel, of course. And it would be nice if there was a way to turn on the light in the toilet area without lighting up the whole bath area (and thereby waking the partner). We used our phones, and it was okay, but....

Lovely big room (junior suite) with huge bathroom and comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was okay, but not a huge amount of choice for vegetarians. We liked the old building which made a nice change after staying in a number of ultra modern hotels during a long trip in Norway.

We stayed saturday, sunday and monday night and the first two nights we had a lot of noise from a nearby club until 3 in the morning. We struggled to work out where it was coming from so don't know if a different room would have been quieter. I recognise this is not something that the hotel can control - maybe improved soundproofing, but in such a lovely old building I guess that would be difficult.

Excellent location in the heart of the tourist area. The room was clean, a little dim. Appreciated the assortment of tea and instant coffee. It was interesting to stay in such a historic building. We liked the proximity to all the major attractions like Bryggen and the fish market. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and included a wide selection of cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, oatmeal, eggs, bread, coffee, juices etc.

We didn't know that there was some construction happening in the adjacent building which made the walk to get in and out of the property with our bags a little longer. No free parking. Bed was a little too soft for our liking, but we still had a good night's sleep.

If you like your hotels to be quirky, then this one has it in spades. Rambling corridors and interconnecting bridges over several buildings, exposed pipes and beams, timber walls all add to its atmosphere. Nice decor too. Very good location beside the currently closed Hanseatiske Museum, <2’ from Bryggen shops.

Our attic room had just one small skylight in each of the bedroom/bathroom, and no view so the room was claustrophobic and stuffy, albeit quiet.

The hotel is very cute and located in the heart of the city! The room was comfortable and clean. We loved the claw foot bathtub and enjoyed soaking in it. Breakfast was very good and the lounge was lovely.

The hotel is under construction, so it was difficult to locate intially. Our room was overlooking the street and the windows were not good at blocking sound, so it was very difficult to sleep on a Saturday night with everyone partying until 4am!! I wouldnt recommend staying here on a weekend if you are not joining in the all night party scene.
