The location is very near to train station, just a few walk away. The room i stay in is for four female person, inside has own locker and hair dryer, and i love the view. The bathroom is mix, but i dont mind, it has enough space, it was clean, and also has hair dryer. The toilet is also enough, and it is clean. The kitchen is fantastic, it has 2 fridge, has 2 oven and a microwave oven, a kettle, and other utensils. And they have free pepper and salt. If your looking for some oil, buy on your own, its not expensive anyway :) there is also enough space to sit/eat. The check in process is so easy, and to check out as well. There are near restaurants and groceries as well.

Nothing.

The hostel was perfect for a short stay. The kitchen was well equipped, although slightly small so it was difficult for more than 2 or 3 people to cook at once. There were plenty of tables and chairs to eat at. The beds were comfy, although there were no shelves with the beds so no where to keep things close at hand. there was a locker for each bed although they were narrow so my hand-luggage sized case didn't fit inside. There were a couple of sofas in a small common area which were very comfy, but only 2 so only space for 4 people to sit. The location was perfect - 10 minute walk to the main city centre/harbour area, less than 5 minutes to the main bus station and the light rail stop, and a budget supermarket just around the corner.

The lockers in the room were very narrow so my hand luggage-sized case didn't fit inside, and there weren't any shelves next to the beds so no where to keep things close at hand. The kitchen was well equipped but quite small so became crowded very easily.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at City Hostel Bergen, and I can confidently say it was one of the best hostel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and at home. Their warmth, friendliness, and willingness to help with any request truly set this hostel apart. The hostel itself is impeccably clean. Every corner, from the communal areas to the bathrooms and dormitories, is maintained to a high standard, making it a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, allowing me to unwind and fully enjoy my time here. One of the greatest advantages of City Hostel Bergen is its prime location right in the heart of the city. It’s perfectly situated, with easy access to all the main attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. This made exploring Bergen a breeze and added so much convenience to my trip. Initially, I had planned to stay for just four days, but I was so impressed and happy with everything that I extended my stay to a full seven days. The decision was easy—this place feels like a second home. The combination of the amazing staff, clean facilities, and perfect location made it impossible to leave so soon. I will undoubtedly be returning to City Hostel Bergen on my next visit to this beautiful city. If you’re looking for a place that offers exceptional service, cleanliness, and a true sense of home away from home, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Everything was perfect!!! Can’t wait to come back again!

Considering Norvegian prices, this was a really good value for a self-catering stay so close to the centre (train station, pier, Bryggen all within short walking distance). The beds were so-so, but for a hostel, it was clean, and had enough facilities (mind you, when I was there it wasn’t at full capacity).

Signs everywhere “No alcohol permitted in rooms and common areas” … this is kind of unheard of and isn’t reasonable to ask adults to spend 6 times the price on a beer at a pub. On top of that, this isn’t stated anywhere (in their policies, etc), so a bit of a shock to show up and see the signs.

The hostel was good value and ideally located, 5 min from the train station & 10 min walk to Bryggen. Staff were super helpful & responsive, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was great. I liked that there was a mix of facilities( just toilets, toilet/ shower etc…) although the hostel was quite busy there was never any problem finding an empty bathroom

We had spectacular weather while we were there, the room can get a bit stuffy with the windows closed however opening the windows meant that it could be quite noisy from the street below until quite late at night,,, just bring earplugs if that sort of thing bothers you

In a perfect location just minutes from the railway station and the harbour and only 15 minutes walk to the Hurtigruten terminal. My room was as good as any budget hotel room I have had, with a comfortable bed, a decent sized shower room, a hob for cooking an easy meal, a fridge and most importantly a kettle. There was a good mix of people staying here, and as a mature traveller, I certainly didn't feel out of place. Free luggage storage was available too, and without a doubt if I stay in Bergen again, I would choose this place.

Nothing.

The four bed female-only dorm was excellent. I thought the bed was really comfortable and I had the best sleep I’ve had in years! I liked that we could lock our belongings away in the lockers provided in the room. I really enjoyed the shared kitchen facilities as it is well-equipped with everything you need, including salt and pepper. Plenty of shared and single bathrooms across the hostel. It is quiet for a hostel, especially if you close the windows at night to avoid noise from road below, but Bergen is a relatively quiet city at night anyway. All of my fellow guests were super respectful - mainly travellers. It was located only 5-8 minutes walk from large Kiwi supermarket, as well as nearby park/water fountain area. It is located 8-10 minutes walk from Bryggen and the Fløibanen (funicular to Mount Floyen). Overall, my first stay in a hostel has been fantastic - I will be staying again.

Towels should be included, although I understand that they aren’t included because some travellers only stay for a night, so a rental fee for duration of stay is a flat 25NOK (approx less than £2), which isn’t a bad price.

Very good location in the centre, in a mostly pedestrian area. It was my first time staying in a dorm in several years and I was surprised how quiet and calm it was... the rest of the hostel was quiet too. Each bed had a power socket, it's own reading light and a little shelf. There were also lockers with keys, so you don't need a padlock. There were lots of toilets and showers around, I never had to wait. Also very clean. Nice kitchen and breakfast room for self catering. I picked a dorm because I wasn't sure if I would even stay in Bergen that night and didn't want to lose too much money if my plans changed at the last minute, but actually after this good experience, I would stay again!

It was a bit of a pain arriving late and having to make my own bed, then unmake it again in the morning, but that's not so unusual in hostels. I would have liked curtains around the beds for more privacy and so that you're less disturbed by other people turning the lights on.

Clear communication delivered for my late arrival with all details and codes included. Clean and well organised facility with very respectful guests and staff. Excellent wifi and space around the entire floor. Given the location within Bergen and it’s proximity to transportation hubs, I found this to be ideal for anyone looking for some business, mostly adventure and refueling when necessary.

Somewhat crowded kitchen area at very few moments in the morning. This was also expected, given my experience, and there was a large group present at the time. So, I will say the kitchen corner is not the best for flow of people and preparing meals.
