I informed them of my arrival time. Everything was in order. I was able to get to my room, drop my things, and get to my next engagement in record time. The staff were welcoming and informative. It also approximately 20 minutes away from the Central Train Station (Oslo S) which is very convenient when coming from the airport or international rail. The directions they sent to me to find them from Oslo S was perfect. If you have GPS, I encourage you to use it b/c the road turns and you don't want to potentially get lost. I liked that towels come with the room reservation as well as one for the bathroom floor. Every 4 days you can get a new towel. Before my arrival, I was involved in an accident. I informed the hostel, and they were able to confirm for me a lower bunk space.

I wish the individual rooms had lockable storage. Because it did not, luggage is left out in the open in the room. There is also no place in the room to lock your computer. There is a small storage area at the reception desk, but the hours are from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. I also wish there was laundry within the building. There is one approximately 15 minutes away from the hostel. The internet at the Reception Desk is great. If you want to use it in the rooms, it is not strong. For almost $40US, the room is pricey but it's typical for the area.

Good value. There is a small locker on site (bring your own lock), and the room has a small kitchnette (you can rent utensils for 200 NOK deposit). Has coffee onsite, and isn't too too busy. Front desk staff is friendly (Mira was super nice and gave me tips for the city). Really fun international crowd. The location is right on the tram, and easy to get around. Not far from bars etc.

The locker is very small, and the locker latch is a bit weird, so I had to buy another lock that fit. Didn't get all sheets on arrival. There isn't a lot of food options nearby, There is no in-house laundromat, so the only option is to go to Clean Kokos, which is extremely expensive and time consuming.

Streamlined and simple hostel facilities. Great location near lots of trendy bars and restaurants. Several trams pass by the door every few minutes, with a five minute ride to the train station and museums. We took a private double room with private bathroom (shower). We pushed the two beds together. We picked up our sheets and towels from a cart near the reception so we knew they were freshly laundered. On checkout we put them on the used laundry cart. Nicely efficient and reassuringly clean.

In spite of the double windows we could clearly hear the trams since our room faced the street.

I stayed at Anker Hostel for 8 nights and was thoroughly impressed. The central location made exploring Oslo easy, with major attractions and public transport within walking distance. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great advice on local sites. The hostel was very clean, with my room and common areas well-maintained throughout my stay. I appreciated the comfortable beds and the overall quiet atmosphere, perfect for rest. The facilities were excellent, including a well-equipped kitchen and cozy common areas. For the price, it’s a fantastic choice, providing great value without sacrificing comfort. I highly recommend Anker Hostel and will stay here again on my next visit to Oslo.

I enjoyed my 8-night stay at Anker Hostel, but a few areas could be improved. The room was a bit smaller than expected. The shared bathrooms were occasionally occupied, leading to brief wait times, especially in the morning. The kitchen area could get crowded during peak meal times, making cooking or finding seating harder. I also noticed that the Wi-Fi speed was slower during busy times, which affected streaming. Despite these minor drawbacks, the hostel’s central location, friendly staff, and cleanliness made for a pleasant stay. The comfort of the beds and the value for money were definite highlights. Overall, I would recommend Anker Hostel but suggest considering these aspects if you plan to stay.

cleanliness, and calm atmosphere too

Couldn't charge my 2 phones since no power socket was available near the bed in a mixed room. Only above the sink there were utility sockets which i didnt dare to leave two iphones charging all night away from me :(

Snoring is a problem. People should be informed and forced to use snore stopper bands. (Breathe right , etc. ) ear plugs is not enough for some of them .

The hostel was clean, well maintained, and reasonably well thought out. The en suite bathroom, for example, doesn't point directly at the beds like it does in many hostels. There are decent sized kitchens and they can supply pots etc for a deposit.

I wish there were lockable cabinets in each of the rooms. There is a lockable area near reception but it will only fit small valuables (wallets, passports, laptops). That may well be enough for most and has some advantages (reception is able to watch over the area) but felt a little weird to me. The living room was somewhat uncomfortable but the rooms themselves are nice and would be awesome if you are travelling in a small party. As a solo traveller they were still better than many hostels and had a fair bit of room to move around in.

Everything! Tram directly outside, 10-15 min walk to the main busy area (Train Station) & (Sea) 2 supermarkets close by to get food & cook in there if you wish (which I did twice) Staff were amazing and so helpful!! I was on the 6th floor (private double room overlooking the trams on the main road for 3 nights) I honestly have nothing bad to say about this hostel. If I ever come back to Oslo, this is my must stay place again 😊

What I didn't like was all the moaning in the reviews about making your own bed, renting the kitchen utensils, and just general moaners about nothing. It is what it is, and I had no problems whatsover with any of the other review comments I read, if your going to share a dormitory with random people, expect random scenarios. That's life! I loved my 3 nights there & there's nothing I didn't like. Best wishes 😊

Nice small apartment style dorm rooms at this property, close to local transport getting you to the central station. The place is simple to reach and get around it. The facilities are quite ok given the star rating that it is given. This is what makes it different than the traditional hotel rooms. It is also a good place to mix with fellow travellers and even pick up one or a few travel buddies. I would recommend for a solo traveller or a couple. Good value for money for one or a few nights stay. If you want good and competitive prices, it is recommended to book well in advance.

Great location, close to some underground stations and the main central station. Lots of shops and restaurants around. Wifi was really nice as well, good for me that had to work one day.

There's no locker, just a regular wardrobe inside the room. They provide small lockers near the reception (for small things like a laptop). Still, a big padlock is needed (usually I carry only a small one to fit on the suitcase zipper lock, but this one is too small for the locking mechanism of the hostel locker). So, if you want to make your suitcase inaccessible to other guests inside your room, all I can think of is bring a bicycle lock and attach it to your suitcase and bed, and lock your suitcase as well with your small padlock.
