It is well located and is right on the main road. Kitchen was well equipped and had all the necessary appliances functioning well. In my room we had only 2 beds and had plenty of space.

It is right on the main street, which meant that i could hear the road traffic all night long. Also, the grey house does not have a "common" room. Not a big issue, but it will be nice to have a some common space with comfortable chairs.

Location is perfect for exploring the centre of Tromsø - only a 5/10 min walk into town and very easy to get to from airport. The beds are comfy, towels and linen provided. There are enough bathrooms so no wait to use them. The hostel is quiet and staff SUPER friendly. I haven't stayed in a youth hostel for over 20 years so I was a little nervous - I needn't have been! It was beyond my expectations and a great find. Will stay there again if I return to the town.

There was very little I didn't like!

Parking is not great but that's not the hostels fault so much as the system is setup much differently in Europe than North America's motorway culture demands. Parking is very confusing and very expensive and fines are steep too. Europe isn't setup for parking and car culture in most urban centers understandably scsetup much more for public transportation. Tromsø is also on an island so understandably they are trying to curtail personal vehicle traffic aggressively while attempting to reduce global CO2 transmissions.

Super close to the city center and to the harbour Easy accessible, so I was out exploring and came to rest a bit in the common area (not big though) but it was possible as it is close. They have cutlery in the kitchen if you need something to cook or prepare for yourself. I loved that check-out is at noon so I was able to roam around in the morning and then go grab my bags to leave to the airport.

There are round stairs that take you up to your room, so if you have problems in your legs and can't climb stairs, it's better to ask if there is a ground floor room. It was a bit challenging for me to bring up and down my bags on the stairs. For the value of the money paid, I think a snack(on breakfast) would be nice.

I loved their dog Burger, who greats everyone at the door and is friendly and loving and makes everyone feel like they are home. I like that there is an upstairs and downstairs kitchen and a place to do work in an office. It was such a friendly atmosphere that several of the guests got together to cook and eat and chat together in the downstairs common area. People washed dishes together and it had a great friendly traveler's energy. I felt safe and welcomed. And I made friends. It's also walking distance from all the main attractions, stores, the shopping center, museums, food, and touristy areas, and the harbor. Excellent location if you don't really know your way around but far enough from the central shopping area that you can have a restful sleep if you are traveling overseas. I went for the northern lights but that's all about luck and timing and even though that part of the trip didn't work out, I made great memories.

I think the common area downstairs where people sit could be a little bit more comfortable. Especially since check-in isn't until 4pm. There isn't a place to lock up the luggage for when people go out, but you can leave luggage under the staircase. This made me a little concerned about going out for too long because I didn't know the vibe of the place yet. It takes me a little bit to warm up to people and places from my own life experiences, so I like being able to lock things up in a closet or in a room. But once I understood the overall feel of the place I felt comfortable leaving my things under the stairwell during check out.

This is the best hostel I have ever stayed in. The owner is amazing, the vibes, kindness, friendliness and all the times and anecdotes you can share with the volunteers make it unique. There is a sense of belonging and community that I have never felt anywhere else... and I have travelled all over the world. It’s not about the design or infrastructure, it’s about the soul this hostel has and that’s the hardest thing to find. The highlight and spirit of the place is Burger, the best, cutest and friendliest dog you will ever find.

I’m sad that I could not bring Burger -the dog- with me back home.

I only stayed for a night so didn't get to experience much, however the stay was enjoyable and comfortable. Worth the time and money for an overnight stay. They were very good to brief guests on guest expectations for common enjoyment of shared spaces. I didn't get to see all the rooms/dorms. There was a welcome dinner on the first night however I didn't attend. It's a little distance from the town center however everything was in walking distance so it didn't matter much. I would stay here again. I felt safe.

Very warm atmosphere at prime location. Easy to meet fellow travellers, out of the 10+ hostels I've stayed at in Northern Europe easily the best one in terms of socializing, organizing joint trips and cozy vibes. Small, but has everything you need, including a space to do some office work. The location is fantastic, bus terminal, pier and many restaurants, bars and supermarkets in close walking distance. If you don't have high standards in terms of extras, services and facilities, I can only recommend this place, I had a great time there.

If you're very fussy about things like cleanliness on the kitchen, or looking for 'fancy' interior (such as is more standard in larger, newer hostels), a big kitchen and a lot of space to spread out, this isn't the optimal place for you. No big lockers and no room keys (rooms are permanently open). Kitchen, bathrooms and common area are rather small, there is no cafe/bar service and the furniture, including the beds, are a bit makeshift. The building is quite old and creaky, and it was very cold in the bedroom (but warm enough everywhere else).

The hostel is in the perfect location. Close to the city center and also at the foot of the Tromso bridge and in a walking distance to lake where the aurora can be seen. The staff of the hostel organize the northern light watching tour if you dont wanna do it on your own. Next to the hostel is a supermarket. The inside of the hostel doesn´t look new, but the atmosphere of the community is good. The only note is about the bed, which was quite short and the mattress was worn. Except for this one, the bathrom was clean, water was hot enought and the room was warm, so cannot complain. Thank you for the stay.

Really enjoyed the stay at this Hostel. In the evening a lot of people gathered in the Common room, so it was pretty easy to find someone to hang out, play some games or just sit together and find out what they did over the day. All in all it didn‘t feel like a casual Hostel more Like an university dorm, with many nice people in it. The dog is also really lovely and wants you to cuddle him.

Nothing to complain.
