Excellent breakfast, top level service, beautiful room and common areas, lovely setting , beautiful pools and beaches

No bar in al husn, very strange for a 5star plus hotel. Private al husn Beach a bit crowded (we preferred the much bigger and more spacious beach at the sister al bandar hotel. Complimentary aperitives from 6 till 7; too early; we prefer to stay on beach till 5:30/6, get ready for dinner and go out for an aperitive more like 7:30. As a result we only used it once. Also, food and drink is VERY VERY expensive. We spent £3,200 on our room for 10 nights and almost the same again on food and drink, and we weren't at all extravagant (light lunch salad or sandwich; one pre dinner drink; we ate most nights at the buffet £60 to £70 per head including a drink). If you eat at the a la carte restaurants, for 3 courses plus a glass or 2 of wine you will be spending £120 plus per head .

two times I stay in this hotel and two times it was wedding celebration with very loud music breaking my privacy. I would prefer if hotel informed about this event in advance and let me decide on my visit to avoid this mess.

The infinity pool is glorious plenty of loungers with amazing staff who set you up with towels and iced water - the Arabian sun is intense! The lobby, courtyard, pool and overall look exude Arabian style and opulence. Breakfast - spoilt for choice with fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices. You can have all the usual including mezze for an Arab breakfast. Dinner - spoilt for choice for dining options. Private beach again plenty of loungers with really attentive staff who set you up with towels and drinks. Swimming in the Indian Ocean next to the Bandar Al Jissah arch is sublime and there are kayaks and SUP boards to use. Whilst the beach is marked out with known turtle nesting sites, didn’t get to see any in the water this time, so we will have to go back!! The staff are exceptional from lobby, room service, waiting staff, bar staff and valet staff and life guards couldn’t have been more attentive or caring - we really appreciated it!

It could be better if you had an online reservation system for spa treatments and dinner reservations, would make planning a little easier. More Omani food options would be lovely to see.

This place is spectacular. Isolated but has everything you could want to hide away from the world. Amazing views, beaches, pools, restaurants, activities. Do everything or do nothing! Highly recommended for a few days or a week!

Good (or bad) coffee can make or break your day - if you’re a coffee drinker you will understand. The coffee here was not great, like much of the Middle East. With so many staff and so many resources at hand, hire a few young baristas from Australia who are looking for some work experience in amazing location to work a good quality espresso machine for breakfasts and afternoon tea. Simple!

Coming back to our magical home! For my milestone birthday celebration, I decided against a massive party… instead I’m taking the year to spend time with people who matter, revisit places which have meant a lot to me and to tick some more things off my bucket list. The Al Husn at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah resort in Muscat was our dream escape for nine years. Other priorities took over, and this was our first visit back since 2015. I have written twice before about Al Husn, reproduced below. Those words remain as true today as they did when I wrote them. Except, of course, it’s worth noting the impressive new gym and Luban Spa, the new restaurants and the reworked afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks which are served in even more style! To be doing this, having emerged from the challenges of Covid, with rising costs and recruitment pressures, is a significant achievement and a blessing. Every member of staff played their part in delivering this magic, but the three most exceptional were: Mostafa the Front Office Manager, Mimouni Youssef the Chief Concierge and Prima at the Sultanah. And of course, hugely impressed that Zenna and Edcel at the spa and Yussef, the doorman who is now at Al Bandar all remembered us after such a long time! ********************************* First the one from 2007: Pure Magic! The Al Husn at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah resort in Muscat, Oman was always fabulous – luxurious accommodation in a stunning setting, located on the beach against breath-taking cliffs. But until now, service was a problem. This is no longer the case – it seems as if the new General Manager, Mr Shrestha, and his team have waved a magic wand and injected soul into the place. When management and every member of staff, whether at the resort’s extensive range of restaurants, at the dream-world Chi Spa or on the beach, consistently anticipate guests’ every need and deliver a truly memorable experience, then you have the perfect blend for a perfect holiday.

The breakfast offers very good selection. The staff are very attentive, courteous and helpful. I love the hotel's private beach and spend my days on the beach throughout my stay. There are so many water activities eg: kayak, snorkling etc. I love watching the sunset from this beach too. One thing that bothers me is that the opening hours for evening cocktail in the courtyard was too short for me to enjoy. I hope the hotel management should review it as not everyone wants to have dinner in the evening. Sometimes, guests just want to chill and relax.

I reported to the front desk that I lost my nike cap during my stay but I didn't hear any feedback from your hotel.

An absolutely exceptional resort, superb facilities, jaw dropping location and the most attentive and friendly staff its been my pleasure to interact with. Really cannot fault the experience. It's not cheap, but it is more than value for money. The Resort Team offer a level of service that is quite unique - I cannot praise the resort (& the staff) highly enough. A beautiful experience in a beautiful country. Will return without a doubt.

The length of stay! Otherwise, there was nothing I didn't like.

I actually couldn’t wait to write this review, if you’re someone like me that reads through tones of reviews to make a decision where to stay, I hope reading this will make your mind up. This place is simply magical, perfect, peaceful, beautiful and what seems like a peace of heaven! Breakfast in the morning was great, lots of choice and the eggs were cooked so well, the coffee was amazingggg… Afternoon tea was delicious the scones were to die for. We had dinner in the Indian restaurant one night which was lovely the other nights we went to the buffet at the fanily resort which is just a 10 min walk from the adults only, you can get a buggy but my husband and i love a walk! The grounds are kept so well, the hotel actually looks very very new still. The staff are amazing so polite and very helpful everyone greets you when you walk by! I’d like to say a massive thank you to the hotel manager who always stopped to talk to my husband and I and advised us on where to go hiking and told us to go snorkeling as this time of the year you get lots of fishes and turtles! The hotel is simply perfect I think I’ll even say it’s possibly one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed!

If it wasn't for Receptionist Manager my score for this hotel would've been very different. I'm allergic to carpet and dust. My first room was carpeted. When I asked if they had any non-carpeted rooms on 2 different occasions 2 different Receptionist told me they don't, that all hotel rooms were fully carpet rooms. Till i met the reception Manager and she informed me that they do have rooms without carpet and transfered me within few hours. With enough sleep and being able to breath properly I got to actually enjoy the hotel and what the country had to offer. Which was worthwhile experience.

Rooms are carpeted, and over scented. It can be abit too much even for an arab ! If you are sensitive to strong scents and carpet it might be a problem. Older hotel and furniture but high quality and well maintained. Some rooms don't have proper toilet bidet, which is weird for this region.

Dramatic landscape, quiet, good service, very good food. We asked for a tour on a very short minute and they found us a great driver to guide us. Thank you! We felt like in paradise. All the minor minuses just remind us that we are on earth.

The administration seems to be overwhelmed. We asked the transfer from the airport and we received several emails some confirming the transfer, some denying it. Finally we had it. When we checked out we discovered that our bill included some charges we did not recognized and, on the other hand some charges we knew were not included. It took the staff several hours to reconcile everything and to give us a correct invoice. We were unhappy with the wine list but we expected this somehow.
