The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the room was cleaned daily. The room was spacious and the bed large and comfortable. The hotel is in a good location for walking into the central area and port. There was a good selection available at breakfast which was tasty. There is an underground car park available at EUR4/day but when we visited there was plenty of parking outside, which is chargeable between 08:00 to 19:00.

The room could be rather noisy at times. Leaving the balcony door open for ventilation resulted in increased traffic noise, especially in the morning. The hotel is also close to the airport and therefore the planes pass low and close by. Having said that it was not a major problem for us.

The rooms are VERY comfortable: Good beds, armchairs, spacious, nice balcony overlooking the city, everything was clean and new. The swimming pool is large, Parking on the premises is excellent. (There is also plenty of public parking outside the hotel which is free between 19:00 and 8:00 am.) Staff very friendly and helpful. After check out we could use the pool, the very pleasant lobby, and the bar until we had to leave for the airport. The location of the hotel is very convenient: Five minutes by foot from the historic center of Ponta Delgada, but away from its narrow roads and very easy to reach by car from the airport.

The pool area offers no shade at all and the number of deck chairs is too small.

When I arrived, they'd upgraded me to a twin room with a balcony so I had a view of the sea. I liked the little touches in the room - from the welcome biscuits and local tea to the soaps and shampoo provided in the bathroom. The location was really good too and I was at the main square within 5-10 minutes' walk. The staff were also super friendly and checked me in early. I was a little poorly on my trip and this was exceptional service.

I wish I'd had more time to go down and use the pool but that's on me with my bad timekeeping, not the hotel's fault.

The hotel was clean with a neat interior. Many conveniently located facilities on ground floor including lounge, restaurant, bar and vending machine with basic toiletries. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always polite and willing to assist. The room was clean and bathroom well-sized. The bed was a super king size with great lighting, a very private balcony, chairs and plenty of storage space. Room service did an excellent job of cleaning daily. The hotel is conveniently located by a bus stop and only a 2 min walk from the town centre.

No kettle or mini bar in room, you have to either go for breakfast in the restaurant (opens at 7 but we left before then for excursions on some days) or leave the hotel (most places only open at 9am in town) for coffee in the morning as there are no facilities in the room and bar doesn't open until 11 so not able to have a coffee or room service. Close to the airport some guests may find the planes noisy but we weren't bothered.

The location is great and the hotel stuff is very friendly and nice. The hotel might be a bit old, but still nice.

My only problem was that unlike the in the description on booking.com, the parking was not free. The hotel has a parking place, but charges an extra fee for that. The other optionis to park on the street (plenty of space nearby) for the normal hourly fee.

Matress, although still a bit hard, was softer than in many other hotels. I also enjoyed the bathroom

Neighborhood is a bit sketchy, there's no water cooking amenities in the room, and the view from the room in 1st floor was a bit disappointing. Airplanes flying over the hotel didn't bother me at all

Highly recommend! We stayed in Sao Miguel almost two weeks, so having a comfortable place was important to us. Hotel Vila Nova definetely made our stay more special. Excellent service, very friendly and very helpful staff. The breakfast had a big choice, but it was maybe too repetitive, especially if you stay for a longer period. The property has a nice, safe parking. The location is very good, very close to the main part of Ponta Delgada, where most restaurants and attractions are. It is also close to the airport, which makes it cheap to get with a taxi there but it is also quite noisy and the planes start flying around 6-7 in the morning. The property has also an amazing air condition and it’s very clean. We had a cleaning service every day and they were doing a good job.

Good place in one of the side streets. Great quality for its 3* ranking. The extra bed in the room was actually quite comfortable

We had three rooms for a group of 7, so it was necessary to have three people in one of the rooms with extra bed. For some reason the extra bed was not provided in the largest room, but in one of the smaller ones. Would be easy to make us even more comfortable, but we were fine anyway (and we stayed just one nigh).

Check in and staff were all excellent . A very safe hotel. Breakfast was great , with a good variety of food albeit the same everyday. A very safe feeling place , well located to catch ( 10euro fixed price ) taxi to airport , walking distance to attractions and transportation. The tourist Information centre in town extremely well resourced and helpful. Public buses were great. be careful with reading timetables. We hired a scooter and had fabulous excursions all over the island. Unexpected bonus the little green train takes you on a trip around central city for historic views . Plenty of excellent boat trips and hikes around all of Sao Miguel, beautiful Lagoes and also Grenas ( not well published but excellent day trip ) The fort with the Historic Military Museum was excellent for 2 hour fill in too. Food /wine around town and waterfront excellent quality, variety and service. ( oh the espresso coffee yum !)
