Unique colonial (most of it is colonial) hotel in the heart of Cartagena. The suites are simply outstanding, the regular rooms not so much, although they are nice, they are kind of small. The food is exceptional and the service is flawless. If you come to Cartagena, this is the hotel to stay at. I do gave a caveat, and that's weddings at the hotel; and although they are not invasive and loud, you can feel the presence of those weddings all the time. The suite was big and spacious, and we had a view of the Plaza de San Diego. Amazing swimming pool areas and gorgeous facilities.

At times, the wedding guests behaved like they owned the hotel. Taking over by the swimming pool spaces.

Everything! The grounds were well kept in a good location. when you first arrive, you are greeted by Bell hops that are dressed the part. The staff overall was great. Carlos was assigned to walk me to my room and he gave me such a personalized experience. I would go back for the staff alone. They really make you feel special. I always felt safe. They also have a wide variety for breakfast and it was always good.

Honestly, everything was good. If I has to say anything, it would be that you have to keep the room pretty cold too avoid condensation on the floor, but Cartagena is hot in general so this is expected.

Beautiful property in the heart of Cartagena old town with direct views of beach too (over the old town wall). Had two spacious rooms overlooking pool in newer part of hotel. Beds were unbelievably comfortable.

Gym was rather small with running machine looking at wall and not much equipment. Also they add on a bunch of tax and insurance on final bill (we didn’t read the small print on checking in and they didn’t mention it). We really didn’t need insurance as we have comprehensive travel Insurance.

Spectacular location in the walled city, amazing view if you got the right rooms.. Spotless cleaning in the rooms, second to nothing.. Staff amazingly helpful and friendly. Staff go above and beyond the line of duty to listen and help. Services are fabulous… Kitchen staff are professionally friendly. Buffet is one of the best in town if not the best.. Room services and housekeeping second to none

A bit dearer

Lovely hotel, amazing pool and food, only gripe is the rooms are a touch small for what is a very expensive hotel, but I do understand as its situated within a monastery. The staff are amazing, and the location, plants and general atmosphere in the hotel is superb. The kids club is great as a place for the kids to hang out. The gym is very good, pool is large, and the team looking after you at the pool are superb. Its a little noisy at night, as its close to the road, and as mentioned its not cheap.

The staff and the facilities were excellent and in a great location.

We booked a six course tasting menu in the 400 year old convent dining room the 1621. When we arrived we were told that they had over booked and we would be eating outside with no AC and a weddding disco blasting behind us. As we booked late that day it was clear they knew they had no indoor space at the time of booking. This was the only disappointment in an otherwise really excellent stay.

It was our first time in Santa Clara, we booked to celebrate our fifth anniversary, when we arrived our room was decorated with petals which were not expecting and we had a fantastic time, the best hotel we’ve stayed at. Super magical, lovely decor, a lot of nature, amazing atmosphere, super helpful staff, really friendly and humble. We would come back and highly recommend it!

Breakfast in the old courtyard was delightful, the room was big and very comfortable, coffee machine and kettle in the room, the pool and gym were very good, great service from the staff, lovely old buildings.

Bikes in the gym were out of order. The 10% service charge on the total bill was unexpected: it was clearly presented as optional but I would prefer not to be surprised at checkout.

The hotel is beautiful, and in a great location for exploring the walled city. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Ask about the free tour of the property to learn about its fascinating history. The butler service on whatsapp makes everything so easy. The 10 course dinner at their 1621 restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip. We would love to return to this hotel one day.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike.

amazing experience, from check in to check out. breakfast, service, attention, location… the suite we booked was breathtaking, a mix of a 1600 hundreds room with high roof with modern touches and amazing decoration. great restaurants around, would highly recommend CANDÉ AND CARMEN, what an amazing gastronomic experience. amazing!!
