We had a really enjoyable overnight stay. The 'Teachers Suite' was quirky. There were two quite steep steps into the bathroom which might have caused an issue for some. Saying that, the room was very comfortable with a great shower. The heating wasn't working properly, but rectified really quickly with an oil filled electric radiator which heated up the room quickly. The meals at dinner and at breakfast were excellent and the staff were charming. There were plenty of gluten free options. This is a listed building, so is not going to be without sloping floors and other quirky features ( which we love! ) We would definitely stay again. Thank you.

My only suggestion would be that the carpet needs replacing in the Teachers Suite as it has been attacked by moths.

bedroom was clean, comfortable. Good selection of tea/coffee/bottle of water. Biscuits but one Tunnocks bar. Plus one for thee bar, -1 for only one (it was a twin room and i had booked as a couple). There were earplugs by the side of the bed, was worried it would be noisy, but i shouldn't have worried. Breakfast was really good, pastries, and juice, followed by the full English. The server was brill, getting my order sorted promptly as i had to make an appointment. Good coffee as well.

The bathroom was tired, although clean. However at this price point I can understand that the decision to update the bathroom would be a difficult one. What i would say is that if they updated the bathrooms they could definitely charge more IMHO. I wold typically budget for c£100-125 for a room and would not have blinked at that price, especially with the breakfast included. I pad c.half that for this room.

The location is great, right on Marlborough High Street. The staff were very friendly and really could not do enough for you. We stayed in ‘The Library’ room which was lovely and spacious with real olde worlde charm, the bathroom was bright and modern and the shower was hot and powerful. Usual tea and coffee, biscuits plus a coffee machine. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful with the addition of cereals , toast etc. To be expected in a very old building, floors are wonky and creaky and noise travels but ear plugs were provided by the side of the bed. We could hear noise from the bar but that stopped at closing time so not really an issue.

The Marlborough is a wonderfully maintained, quirky 15th century inn. Very well appointed rooms, clean, great breakfast. Excellent value for money. Would definitely stay again.

Whilst the staff were very pleasant, some were a little ineffective. I telephoned to say that we were unable to use our room on the first night due to a family issue, only to be telephoned later that evening by another staff member who was still expecting us. When we arrived to check in on the second day about 1pm ( we had already pre-paid for both nights ), we were initially told that we couldn’t check in until 3pm! My only gripe other than that was that the bathroom was generally poorly lit and the shower was virtually impossible to cool down.

We really enjoyed our stay at ‘The Marlborough’ it was in a perfect location for our short stay for my husband to do some clay pigeon shooting at Barbury shooting , it was a real plus for me as Marlborough is honestly a lovely English market town full of very up market boutiques another really great thing is our dog ‘Bill’ could stay too and I enjoyed some super walks with him around Marlborough along the clean chalk bed river , also suitable for ‘Bill’ to have a paddle in! Everywhere seems dog friendly too , lovely coffee places too ! On the second day I drove to Barbury Castle, an ancient site on the top of a hill … certainly a good place for a fresh walk and what a great view!

Nothing springs to mind!

When we pulled into the car park (which is very small) we were rather concerned about what the Marlborough would be like inside, but we were greeted by smiling and helpful staff and shown to a large and comfortable room with all the facilities we needed. The food that we had was exceptional perfectly cooked Fillet steak with the usual accompaniments, and in the morning an excellent breakfast. I have eaten in many restaurants and frankly found the unfussy and straightforward way the Marlborough has with food such a welcome change from much of the pretentious food in many of the hotel and restaurant chains.

I recognize that the Hospitality business is under great pressure in staffing but if the time could be fouind for the manager to visit the bedrooms to check that electricals are working once a week then the minor irritation in having a tv which was disconnecred from the ariel due to a bad connection at the point could have been avoided. Let me emphasise that this was a minor irritation and a member of staff fixed the issue.

Good size room with four poster bed and adjoining large bathroom. Ample supplies of toiletries, coffee and tea making facilities. Also well stocked mini bar provided. Clean and comfortable bedroom with comfortable chairs in an very old characterful period pub. Good range of tasty breakfast options cooked freshly. Good value for money and location.

Parking is very limited due to age of building and there is a Council charge for on the street parking if no space available at the rear of courtyard. Perhaps the local council could provide some dispensation for local businesses who support tourism to the area?

The team were very helpful. They don’t do room service but because the restaurant was full they brought some food to our room. At breakfast the chef was taken to hospital but the server kept us fed and watered with toast and coffee until a new chef arrived. I hope the original chef is ok.

The heating in our room was broken but the staff went out of their way to get mobile heaters which worked fine. The property is very old and needs some maintenance.

The position of the hotel at the end of Marlborough High Street was good - and we managed to get a parking spot at the back. Welcome from the staff was very personable The room was small but comfortable - and great for our overnight stay. Quirky building - very old and full of characterful corners Excellent breakfast

Blind on bathroom window would improve privacy As the building is so old, glazing is single so the courtyard noise travels - tho earplugs are provided

The food there was fabulous— both dinner and breakfast. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was very friendly and the location was superb right at the edge of the high street with parking behind the hotel.

In a word, noise. Room was right above the pub but not insulated for sound in any way, so it sounded like you were right in the middle of the conversations below. It closed at 11 so eventually it quieted down. Windows were not double glazed and traffic noise in the morning was a factor. If you’re a light sleeper, maybe it’s not the best place for you. The food was fabulous though so it makes up for it.
