It is great for a group of friends. The staff made our stay!!! It was the best service I have ever had at any hotel. From capacino's at 6 in the morning to opening the bar at 12 at night after coming back from rugby game. Parking your car. Organising snacks. Or tv to watch final. They have a great team!!! The trailors are beautiful inside. Have everything you need. With lovely "lounge" and bar area.

You are in the City, which is great!! So over weekends the city dont sleep. Its not noisy, but you can hear the cars at night. Im a light sleeper... But it was still worth it!!!

This hotel is truly outstanding. The rooms are not only comfortable but also tastefully decorated. The staff and management are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the breakfast meets a correct standard.

However, there is one caveat to be aware of: avoid booking a room that faces the street. Across the street, there is a bar that plays loud music well into the night. Initially, this caused us sleepless nights, but the management promptly relocated us to a room at the rear, resolving the issue. Their swift action and commitment to guest satisfaction earned them a well-deserved five-star rating.

Friendly staff, hotel situated jn the heart of Cape Town (good location), very good breakfast, neat rooms, good clean linen, good beds and pillows, the architecture of the building is beautiful, the rooftop views are stunning, the old escalator still in good working order

The international plug in my room burned out my GHD hairdryer within a second of switching it on , it was reported to staff but no feedback, bathroom of room 207 needs a paint as there are some rusty areas on wall, shower has lots of grime (needs a proper clean), no proper tv channels, no remote to work the tv’s airconditioning in rooms barely cooling the rooms, carpets in hotel need to be replaced (looks old and full of old marks)

The staff is excellent and loved their little restaurant. The food and chai lattes were fabulous, breakfast was included in the lodging.The rooftop bar is funky and fun. Across the street from the red and blue bus tours. Nice souvenir shop at the corner.

Loud music is playing on the next block till 3 a.m. from a local club... I mean loud !!! If we go back for a vacation I definitely would book a room on the opposite side of the hotel.

I don’t have enough wonderful things to say about this hotel. The facilities were impeccably clean and modern. The staff went trulyyyy above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant stay. The location is exceptional. The extent to which the staff accommodated me was incredible - from customizing my breakfast order due to my dietary restrictions, organizing last minute tours for me, walking me to the ATM. These people are fantastic!!

The breakfast was a bit repetitive. But you do get access to both the buffet as well as the a la carte menu (not sure that’s cost effective for the restaurant, but I did appreciate the options).

The location is very very near to City Sightseeing office (bus stop no. 5), which is a great way to tour around Cape Town. It's also near to quite a few nice bars, thou you might want to avoid walking alone at night Breakfast is good, thou a bit limited. There is Macdonald, KFC, burger king within a very short distance, in case you choose not to enjoy the hotel breakfast. There is housekeeping everyday, and a bottle of water is provided complimentary from the hotel everyday. There is also a rooftop, which serves good long island tea. Water temperature from the shower takes some time to warm up, and adjust to your preference. But think most hotels, except the high-end hotels, have this issue too. So i wouldn't be too concern about it, as long as eventually it's the temperature i want. Uber from the hotel to V&V waterfront is definitely affordable. Front desk staff are very friendly and helpful.

The rooftop bar closed at around 9pm, which i think is too early. Sometimes the door to the main entrance of the hotel could be closed, and will have to press the bell for the staff to open the door There is no travel desk, thou they do have quite a lot of brochures to for you to book your own tours directly

Breakfast was incredible. Staff are some of the loveliest that I have come across in the hotel industry - especially Presley! Massive shout out to him.

Bathroom was exceptionally clean but bath flooded the room so there are some things that may need updating. Location is in CBD. Not a great place to walk around outside at night but nobody walks and Uber is the way to go, so it didn’t affect us at all, just something to perhaps be aware of.

We checked in late and was told by the receptionist that exceptions were made for the guests at the bar. We were told that the bar closes for the public at 9, but guests at the hotel could still go up after 9, and we'd be served. This guy was so full of it. I understood what he was saying/where he was coming from, that there were residents staying there and if the bar remained open, it could be noisy/ a disturbance for tge residents, but the way he was saying it and implying that we were lying about what were told upon check-in, put me off though. He said he could hook us up with one drink, I took the drink, but my girlfriend looked put off completely. That kind of put a damper on it.

The staff were all so friendly and flexible and we loved the quirky/boutique feel of the hotel. The breakfast (which was included in our rate) was delicious and there were so many options to choose from. The rooms were spacious and clean and we loved the little touches like Grand Daddy branded jelly beans on our pillows on arrival! The location of the hotel is great for walking to the centre of Cape Town (a walking tours company is based only 5 minutes away). Long Street with all of its bars can seem a little intimidating, but we felt completely safe at the Grand Daddy hotel and the small rooftop bar was also very welcoming, with good priced drinks and friendly staff who were more than happy to have a chat and a laugh around with us. We came to this hotel on the recommendation of my sister and I would certainly pass that recommendation on.
