Very comfortable rooms. The beds are really comfortable. Excellent breakfast and location. Free wi-fi was excellent for business purposes. Many restaurants within walking distance.

I was disappointed when I left my toiletries behind. I send an email to ask them to keep it for me, and will fetch it in a week's time on my way home. I never received a response on my mail. On my arrival a week later, they confirmed that they received the mail, but housekeeping could not find anything and said that it was most likely disposed off. When I ask what the lost goods policy is, it was confirmed that housekeeping should have handed it in as reception.

Perfect location, just off Dorp Street which has lots of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops (plus a cute Sunday market). It's on a really quiet road so there's no noise or light pollution to wake you up at night. The room was a decent size, had a huge walk in shower and the bed was super comfy. Loved the "honesty bar" which allowed you to help yourself to food and drinks and pay for them at the end of your stay. The pool was small but a lovely place to sit and read at the end of the day.

Nothing, checking in and out was very smooth and we really enjoyed our stay!

The property is beautiful - lovely big rooms and a clean, modern pool. It is very quiet location, but only a short walk to town. The honesty bar is good value and a nice touch.

I would generally recommend this property but the room temperature is set to 23 degrees and you cannot make your room cooler than this. I found it too hot at night. I would recommend this policy is amended so the rooms could be made cooler (we stayed there in 2023 and do not recall this restriction).

Room was great. Staff were very nice. Bar and pool area not used but looked lovely. Breakfast at the restaurant next door was delicious every day.

There is a tree dropping fruit outside some of the rooms. This was messy for suitcases, shoes etc. we manage to bring it in to the room. It is swept every day but we arrived on a bank holiday so I guess wasn’t done for 2 days, and the tree drops A LOT. Not applicable to all rooms

I loved everything about de Wagen !.a cut above the rest! Staff was geniunely friendly, helpful and welcoming ! Received a warm welcome from staff with glass of wine and tour around property showing pool,lounge area with complimentary sundries. A.courtesy golf cart was available for pick up and drop off when it rained to Volkskombuis for meals. Quality furnishings room interiors, and beautiful gardens complementing the Stellenbosch historic atmosphere of oaktrees and indigenous gardens...Also close to Eersteriver walk, and iconic historic Dorpstreet , Paul Roos school fields and shops..

Would love to stay longer

Great location, close to city centre. Lovely room, spacious , beautifully decorated, excellent bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. Set around Lovely courtyard with plunge pool, lounge with honesty bar. Excellent breakfast in adjacent restaurant.

Poor Wi-Fi in room 10, patchy and unreliable. Door stop in room sited where it is a potential trip hazard particularly at night.

What is there not to like. From check-in to check out we had the best experience. Staff was professional and kind, the room are beautiful and have everything you could possibly need. The honor lounge was a perfect place to wind down. The hotel is an easy walking distance to a cool and really good coffee cafe, restaurants and shopping.Our breakfast was included and was a la carte at the neighboring restaurant, The Volkskombuis. This restaurant is stunning and an amazing way to start your day. Should we ever be lucky enough to return i will not research where to stay in Stellenbosch and immediately make reservations here.

The room was so much bigger than expected and everything exceeded our expectations besides one of the beds. Breakfast was lovely and the service at the hotel as well as the restaurant was superb!

The one bed's mattress is no longer firm and made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. It would also be an added bonus to have a flat sheet for extra comfort.

Outstanding hotel - loved everything. Only problem was the temperature in the room. I could not adjust the aircon and so it was really warm. Additionally I would have preferred a firmed pillow. Breakfast was outstanding, beautiful setting.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in for a very long time. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the staff were lovely, the facilities were excellent and the breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend and will definitely book again if we make our way through Stellenbosch again. Could not fault anything! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
