Boutique Hotel Helvetia

Amazing hotel in the centre of Zurich! The hotel has a great charm with the combination of the 'old' outside building and the new, modern interior. The staff is very helpful and attentive, the room was large and super clean, there are two 'public' rooms/options on the ground floor where you can work (incl. free coffee and tea), there is even a little terrace at the back of the hotel overlooking the river 'Sihl' - you feel like being in a secluded little 'paradise' in the middle of a busy city! Also, there is a restaurant inside the hotel serving great meals - lunch, dinner as well as breakfast. I will definitely consider staying at Boutique Hotel Helvetia Zurich again.

Lovely stay at this hotel. Room was decorated well. Loved the balcony and the fact that the room had a detached hairdryer. The decor throughout was very quirky. Great location and really cute rooftop terrace. Great amenities and really liked the Kiel’s products. Has a good shower and was clean.

No big issues but more suggestions.. -didn’t have tea and coffee facilities in the room- however I did ask prior to my arrival and they did put this in but on the second day- however no milk so I had to go downstairs and get this anyway. Not a huge deal but would have been nice for when I had arrived - room seemed a bit cold in decor. This may not be my style and nothing actually wrong with the room. I much preferred it in the day. - would have appreciated more than one towel in the bathroom especially as someone who has long hair and two separate towels are needed when washing hair. - would have been nice to have a hot breakfast options and some eggs wouldn’t have gone amiss.

Wonderful location in a cozy and atmospheric old building. Really centrally located with many attractions and conveniences within walking distance. Our room was spacious and inviting. There is a lively bar/restaurant attached to the hotel. Staff were very helpful and arranged an airport transfer for us. We only stayed for one night at the end of the trip but definitely wished we had more time to enjoy the hotel and its surroundings.

If arriving by car, the parking/luggage drop situation is a bit confusing. You essentially have to drive up onto the sidewalk and park in an open space adjacent to the hotel while you unload your bags before finding paid city parking. This wasn't necessarily intuitive but once I called the reception for help they were able to explain the process clearly. Other than this minor inconvenience, the central location of the hotel is one of its most appealing assets.

Stylish and clean...and with the gorgeous, aromatic Soeder soaps etc. The room was excellent. I greatly appreciated the hotel's little communal riverside terrace One could make oneself a cup of tea in the common room and sit out to drink it. A lovely touch. The fabulous historic building has great atmosphere. Very enjoyable breakfast as well...again on a flower enhanced terrace.

It is a little off centre...good or bad?? ..and by being so it is within a 3 minute walk of the magical Botanical Gardens...which make a delightful pre-breakfast visit.

Location is perfect, 2 min to the train station, 5 minutes to shopping area. Excellent value for the money. Good restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff

The room has direct view on a road, and was missing sheer curtains for privacy during day time

Stayed for two nights. 10 minute walk to center . Bed was very comfortable. Loads of restaurants and bars nearby.. Reception staff very pleasant. Would stay again.

No tea/coffee machine however but kettle available on request. Would be nice to be able to make a coffee in the room.

Very good location - walking distance to metro (1 min), tram(1 min), main station(10 min), old town(10 minutes) Glad we received earlier check in as we request in our reservation. The lady from the reception was so kind and explanatory! They booked us a trip for the same day we checked in! Make sure you book a "large room", as others are too small in my opinion. One of the best price options in Zurich downtown.

The noice isolation was poor. We heard the tram very clearly in our room which was on the 4th floor. It was a little hard to fall asleep as this was even after midnight. Very,very limited breakfast - for the price we paid..

The Hotel Helvetia is in an excellent location in Zürich, with plenty of nearby restaurants and a short walk or tram ride to all of the highlights of the old town. You do pay a premium for a room, but all hotels in the area have that premium cost. What set Helvetia apart for us was the excellent staff and atmosphere of the building. My girlfriend twisted her ankle on our trip, and the staff were incredibly accommodating and considerate of our requests to help her manage. The bar and restaurant are also fantastic; you might want to make a reservation for dinner! It's a popular place.

The setup of the AC is a bit haphazard, with the hose of the unit just sitting on the windowsill to pump the hot air from the AC outside. But having AC of any kind in Switzerland is an uncommon luxury, and we definitely appreciated having it on some hot summer days!

Staff was very kind and helpful, wifi was stable and fast, the restaurant on the ground floor is quite good, and there are also nice, comfortable and useful common areas on the ground floor with free coffee (e.g. library, terrace with river view). Buffet breakfast was good and tasty with enough variety of choices. Location is great, just by the city center, perfect for sightseeing.

Location is great but on the other hand during the night it was quite noisy (specially the tram). We traveled in summer, so window must be kept open because only an air blower was available for temperature control in the room.

Immediately clean and super comfortable. Very stylish and quirky decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They responded really quickly to my messages and requests. I asked if my friends could check in before I got there as they needed to go somewhere before we arrived. We stayed on the top floor, there was a lift available. The receptionist showed us the library area which we could use during our stay and guided us to the lift, showing us the way into the bar area if we had wanted food. The room was amazing. Neat, fresh and tidy with 1 bedroom, a gorgeous bathroom and little kitchen area with a coffee maker and essentials. We slept on the sofa bed which was comfy. The bathroom had more than enough towels for hair body and face. And we were provided with shampoo, conditioner and body wash and neatly situated in the shower. The shower was hot, clean, spacious and very easy to use. We would definitely go back to this hotel :)
