The Citizen Hotel . . . first of all, forget what they say on their web site about location; they’re incredibly close to the Dongmen station — like 4 blocks from Exit 2 — maybe a 5 minute walk down the main street. You enter the hotel off a lush courtyard — Koi pond included — into a very quiet, relaxing lobby. The people were gracious and pleasant and the room was lovely and quiet. The breakfast didn’t have tons of stuff but enough to satisfy even a picky eater. The staff were great there! We would stay there again in a second! It was reasonably priced EXCEPT for one issue. This was booked through Booking.com, as were all the hotels on this trip, but when we got there, we were put in a room in a corner, tucked in next to the stairs and the elevator, right next to the maid supply rooms. It was going to be loud but, when I asked if we could move to another room down the hall — the hotel had plenty of vacancies — I was informed that THAT room was THE booking.com room we ordered and moving would cost an extra $75. I understand hotels having policies . . . this was a bit unnecessary, especially since there were lots of vacancies on that same floor, so be forewarned if booking through this app . . . they allocate a room and that’s it. Other than that, the staff were incredibly nice and the breakfast simple with enough choices. VERY quiet room and very clean place all around . . . we would stay there again in a second!

Leaving out a couple of nights we spent in high end hotels, the breakfast was overall far the best we had in any hotel we stayed at during a three week visit to Taiwan, where all but the pickiest western or local appetites should expect to find enough selections to their liking, The room was clean and provided everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Staff were very responsive and attentive to requests.

On our most recent stay at this hotel we were in a room at the front of the hotel which faces a busy road and being light sleepers we found noise from traffic disturbed us in the morning, although this likely wouldn't be enough to worry everyone. The endlessly repetitive "musak" sound piped into the public areas, particularly the breakfast room is very disturbing once one realizes it's there, it isn't always at the same volume and the disturbance factor can depend on the ambient noise generated by the few or many diners.

Very clean room and shower (which was nice and powerful and spacious). They refreshed towels and cleaned every day. The staff are friendly and polite and the concierge parking service was fantastic. Breakfast was ample and good quality. The location is perfect near to a metro and right near to all the main sites including Chiang Kai shek memorial hall. Don’t miss the miniatures museum either.

Nothing apart from some of the communal hallways could do with a bit of renovation, but that’s only a minor point.

I like how accommodating and nice the staffs are. I’m impressed on how they go the extra mile to assist us with our trip. A big shout out to May who assisted us patiently to book our private tour. Rooms are clean and their breakfast is good as well. They clean your rooms daily and provide bottles of water. Location wise it is very accessible. There are a lot of convenience stores in the block. Mcdonalds and Din Tai Fung (and many more restaurants) are all walking distance from the hotel. You really get the value of your money here. I can truly recommend this hotel to travellers in Taiwan.

The view of the hotel isn’t that great but it is not of a big deal. We also had some trouble with controlling the AC but the staffs were fast to fix the problem.

Clean, well maintained hotel. Room was not spacious but more than suitable. Very good breakfast set-up that had just enough Western food choices for an American like me! I liked the location in Taipei, and the staff was very helpful when needed. Good bathroom & shower!

The beds in Asia tend to be very hard in my limited experience, and this was only slightly softer than the hotel I'd just come from in Saigon. My room had no closet, so you have work out of your suitcase.

The location was good, near a metro station and various popular sightseeing spots. The room was a good size, bed was comfortable, bedding is clean. Housekeeping is regular, bottles of water everyday. Staff are helpful and friendly, you can keep and weigh luggage there. Laundry can be done on sight.

The room needed a better clean, there was hair and food crumbs on the carpet. It's expensive for what you get, the soundproofing isn't amazing and the room is quite bright even at night time (various LEDs and lights). The breakfast was very average, I hoped for a better selection of fruit (only grapefruit & melon).

i booked 2 rooms and stayed for 3 nights, i asked for the 2 rooms to be nearby and it was well arranged. Cleanliness is up to mark and well done. Abundant TV channels to suit all nationalities even if it was predominantly mandarin speaking ones - no surprise there. Breakfast choices is very good and fair. Near bus stop and MRT station - so convenient to get around. A big plus is there's a coin laundry available on this hotel which is pretty rare.

I did asked for 1 room to be split like a twin and the hotel did msg back promptly but it was in mandarin. unfortunately i don't read chinese so i did not understand... and so I did not get that sorted out before i arrived.

Value for money The location was near Dongmen station and was very accessible by Uber There were also nearby restaurants and a convenience store Superb breakfast options Housekeeping Slept soundly for our whole stay there (comfortable bed, A/C, little to no noise) Couldn't recommend this hotel more!

(Didn't really affect our stay, but...) We were 5 with multiple luggages and asked the front desk if they could get us a taxi to the bus terminal, since Uber wasn't accepting our other cards and the one working only had enough for 1 ride. He couldn't understand the Uber part because of the language barrier and just said "Why couldn't you just get 2 Ubers?" in a non-offensive way, but it was very off-putting.

1. I loved the breakfast. We stayed for 6 days in total, and they provided different breakfast each day! Full of healthy food choices, Chinese and western. All carefully selected and made with great dedication to quality of ingredients. There is fresh ground coffee too but with automatic machine. My favorite was the cherry tomatoes, I guess they are locally grown in Taiwan thus so sweet and fresh. Then the nice selection of bread including small croissants which I can heat up with the small oven and make a nice croissant smoked salmon sandwich. Selection of fresh fruits are also different every day. 2. Kids friendly - they offered my 3 year old son a baby cot at no additional cost, comes with cute little pillow and duvet with animals which my son adored! Their cantine also provided baby chair for my son, with baby utensils and plate, and let him eat the buffet for free! 3. Clean. Bathroom had dry and wet sections partitioned so the shower water won't flow out to the toilet and basin regions. 4. Quiet. I've read a lot of reviews about other hotels being very noisy, with thin walls. I suspect this hotel doesn't have very good sound proofing with the doors cz I can easily hear other rooms' door lock beeping sounds, but the hotel was very quite still, maybe because neighbors were all considerate, and our window is not facing the street. 5. Other facilities that I always make sure a hotel has that this hotel also provides: washing machine, dryer, lift landing on all floors, windows. 6. Other less essential bonus: free bottled water x2 /day, mini fridge, free packet coffee/tea, kettle, free toiletries, hair dryer, VERY strong flow of shower water with hot water running out pretty quickly. Table corners are protected with childproof rounded corners. Fairly spacious, we could fit our large pram and 2 suitcases and still walk around freely. Friendly reception staff.

1. Window couldn't be opened when we tried by ourselves. Seems to be locked. 2. Air con was hard to adjust to the right temperature. I can't choose warm air vs cold air mode, I can only choose the desired temperature, so it'll be sometimes blowing cold air, sometimes hot. Room is very dry due to the aircon. 3. Lights are not working very well, the light bulbs tend to flicker. And even when I turn on all the lights the room is still pretty dim.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and they have self service laundry on the roof which is quite unique. Bathroom was clean as well. There is a morning market, 7 Eleven and Sukiya near by.

Break area was rather small and can get full and customers may need to wait their turn. Food was simple and average with limited variety. However we still enjoyed it.
