- located close to the tourist attractions of Sultanahmet (Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern) - close to tram station T1 - Gülhane or Sultanahmet (~250 m) - clean room and bathroom - very kind and attentive staff, communicate easily in English - you can quickly reach the restaurants and cafes in the area on foot.

- try to avoid room 208, because it's close to the emergency stairs which are frequented quite often by the staff (I guess) and they slam the door quite hard, especially in the early hours of the morning. - the breakfast is decent, it doesn't vary from one day to the next. Try not to arrive in the last half hour of breakfast, because there is a risk of not finding too many products.

Location is very new and well located. You can reach any attraction in that area in maximum 10 min walking time. Small bonus: from some of the rooms you can see Hagia Sofia. The staff is very friendly and ready to help with any request. Rooms are clean and spacious. From the lobby you can see the old ruins of an ancient roman bath that are inside of the hotel. Ask for some turkish coffe when you arrive :) Next time I am in Istambul, I will stay again here.

Breakfast was a bit dissapoining for me. There are a lot of choices for vegetables and cheese, but for meat, pastry and egg-based dishes the choices were more limited.

The breakfast need to be improved

When we just got in the hotel and were tired and hungry (and missed the breakfast), the guys on the front desk gathered a late breakfast for us and gave us some tea and sweets. And it was just getting better and better day after day. The hotel was such a gem! Totally worth the cost and the staff was beyond amazing. Everyone was helpful, thoughtfull and 24/7 ready to help and have a friendly chat. There is also a 24/7 coffee and tea maker for the guests downstairs, so you could go and have a nice warm drink if you got tired after your sightseeing. Oh, and the location is perfect – 3-5 minutes walk from Hagia Sofia. You can also enjoy the remains of an old hammam inside the hotel – it is renewed and you can enjoy the sight while having breakfast downstairs.

Shining Star hotel is a lovely and chic new hotel in a fabulous location near all the key sights. The staff is awesome and so helpful. The breakfast is excellent and has a lot of varieties and the breakfast area is so relaxing and well designed. The room was smaller but that is typical for the centre of Istanbul. The beds were very comfortable and everything was so clean. we appreciated having a reliable lift as one member of our family has mobility issues. They arranged our shuttle to and from the airport and also gave us excellent advice on getting around Istanbul. It’s a quiet side street very easy to get to places from. We also had a partial view of the Hagia Sofia from our room. Loved it!

The breakfast was awesome everything was fresh. Rooms are clean an fresh it was very spacious.The staff was smiling all the time.Location was perfect everywhere is walking distance.

We had an exceptional experience! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. We were planning a birthday celebration for one member of our group at a restaurant, but the reservation was then suddenly canceled due to the elections. The staff at Shining Star let us use our lobby space instead. They helped with balloons and playing the birthday song through the speakers! The staff was unbelievably kind and helpful. Location is excellent, facilities are new and very clean. This was all a great value too. I would not change a thing!

I liked the kidness, hospitality and the helpfulness of all the staff. Ibrahim, Murat, Serhat, Ugur, Yusuf, Harun and Emir are such nice people. I liked the cleanless of all the hotel and especially the rooms. Thanks to the cleaning staff. I liked the location, close to everything. I liked the view we had from the room on the Aya Sophia. The size of the room is nice and the beds are very, very comfortable. I liked the breakfast which was very delicious and copious. I liked that they always want to satisfy the customers with a big smile . For me the hotel is 5*. I recommend it to everybody. Very good price versus quality. çok tessekurler. çok özledim.

I have nothing I did not like!!!!!

Hospitality of the staff was top. Everyone was very friendly and super supportive. Staff speaks English and Russian. My best wishes to Yusuf. Breakfast is open buffet style and is very diverse, fresh and delicious. Quality of service is five star worthy. It's is freshly renovated, no corners cut, rooms are very well equipped. The hotel is perfectly located in a very distance to main attractions. The rooms are very clean. Overall, it was an amazing stay and I will surely return here again.

The hotel has a great location in the center of the old town. We loved the amazing breakfast that was included in the price. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff greeted us friendly and were willing to help us at any time.

It doesn't really look like the towels were changed every time, rather than just folded neatly back up. Not very cozy living with a view of the building under construction and the security guard, but all this overrides the view of the Mosque of Sofia if you look out the window to the right.
