Lovely hotel and staff. Large airy rooms, modern shower and toilet. Very comfy beds and loved being able to open the windows

The dinner wasn’t great. I had Cullen Skink - rather than chunks of fish it was in one big chunk, the broth was tasteless, no potatoes and hard carrots. It didn’t come with any bread which is unheard of and when we asked for some (this was when we still expected a rich tasty broth), it was like supermarket bread and not home made. My friends had Cranachan but again, nothing like that dish, it was like a pannacotta with a few raspberries and no oats. Lastly we’d chosen the hotel for its Spa but all 3 bookings were either booked in for the wrong day, or were cancelled due to an emergency the day before we arrived. We’d booked using Itison vouchers and were told we’d need to seek refunds from them ourselves which added extra hassle and anxiety to our deep disappointment.

Lovely first impression of building. Inside nicely decorated though showing wear and tear though added to charm. Good selection at buffet breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room lovely. Spa and swimming pool lovely although had to go outside and no rain covered area to it. Lovely walkers biscuit each morning with new supplies of tea, coffee and milk. Water bottles in fridge replenished daily. Had lovely facials at Spa. Early morning swim was good and spa staff very helpful. Swimming pool open from 6am til 9pm and free to hotel guests. There was a timetable of swim activities such as aquafit etc on although I didn’t use these. Would def visit here again especially loved the friendly highland cow in the grounds. Just needed a bagpipe player standing at the hotel doorway for a full Scottish experience.

Having to go out in the rain to get to the spa. A covered walkway would have been nice.

I liked the style of the property, and the room was large and comfortable. A really good nights sleep, no noise and fantastic blackout curtains. Breakfast was very nice.

The room was really cold when I arrived. I had to put the heating on full to try and warm the place up (and I like a cool room). I think the hotel needs to do something about keeping the rooms at a decent ambient temperature, especially when the outside temperature is below 5 degrees. Some of the common rooms (bar, restaurant etc.) seem a little lacking in the atmosphere one would expect in a castle.

The setting for the hotel is stunning, and as it was a beautiful day we enjoyed drinks in the garden. The bar persons that were working in the small bar area, were very friendly and welcoming and are a credit to your team. (Sorry I didn’t take their names.)

Check in was easy, Having stayed here previous years. The hotel is beginning to look a little worn in areas. Especially the spar. On our visit to the spar and pool - we were not notified that there was swimming lessons on so use was limited for a period of time. This could be communicated better. The breakfast which we paid £18 each for was although plentiful some of the produce let it down and could have been of better quality for the price. I would stay here again as it is a tranquil setting and knowing now about children’s swim lessons etc I would make a point of asking the pool schedule. I probably wouldn’t pay £18 for the breakfast.

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the lady at reception. Very helpful attentive staff. The room was excellent. Very clean and exactly what we had expected. Bar staff were very friendly and the food we had in the bar was of great quality. Due to us only staying for one night we didn't get a chance to use all of the facilities unfortunately (spa & pool etc). However we will be back for a longer stay to make use of these facilities. Overall a lovely stay and perfect for a couples weekend away. Great views all around and a lot of grounds to go for a wee walk should you feel that way inclined. Situated close enough to Aberdeen city to get there with ease.

It is a beautiful building, well kept and maintained with lovely guest rooms. The staff are very helpful, kind and well-mannered. I highly recommend the restaurant and spa.

It has no public transport links, so I had to get a taxi from and to it every day, which was a little expensive. On three occasions the bar didn’t have a drink I ordered, but they hadn’t updated the drinks menu. I had Afternoon Tea one day, but it was the worst Afternoon Tea I have ever had, so I don’t recommend that!

- The building and spa are real unique selling points - Close enough to Aberdeen town - Clean and modern rooms -Staff were friendly

- The spa area is a bit tired looking- I really think with some upgrades and refurbishments it would really provide an extra wow factor - A few more amenities would be good for both the room and the spa- like some moisturiser and deodorant - The room didn’t have a phone to call room service so had to call with my own phone which I thought was a bit strange (may have just been an oversight)

Location good, only stayed one night so didn't take advantage of on site facilities.

Had issues with stained duvet, you could see the stains through the duvet cover, matress protector was badly stained under pillow and one pillow yellow and badly stained just at pillowcase opening, I didn't check further as afraid what I might find. Lots of dust in the teamaking area, I booked this room for the coffee machine made one cup which tasted funny so went down the sink and not used again, perhaps it needs cleaned out as the amount of dust would suggest it hadn't been used in a while. Very disappointed.

Room was lovely and quiet with a really comfy bed - and all the little extras as a Privilege Room were great (esp as I got a Genius upgrade). Public areas were stunning in the original house but comfortable and food was delicious - afternoon tea and Blairs. Must try a Rusty Coo in the bar (but only one).

Just little niggles - room service breakfast order not picked up and request for a shower mat ignored (uber luxury shower but nothing to grab when floor slippery). Spa was lovely but didn't find out until the end I didn't get the treatment I booked as equipment not working properly!!!

This is a beautiful hotel, this is my 4th visit, and we got a lovely surprise card and chocolate decorated plate for our anniversary. The facilities were really good.

The matress was very uncomfortable, although the staff offered to swap our room the others were exactly the same. The pool is shared with clubs so can be busy with kids, which is disappointing for a relaxing break, We found the waiting staff inattentive, we never got the offer of further drinks and had to request cutlery
