We loved staying here for four nights while visiting Aberdeen. There is so much to like about this somewhat higgledy-piggledy hotel spread across several houses in an appealing Aberdeen neighbourhood. Plenty of carparking at the rear of the hotel, attractive decor, a large comfortable bed, well set up bathrooms with a good shower and quality toiletries. Nespresso coffee machine, a desk for working at and great breakfasts.. All the usuals - cooked items, granola, fruit, fish and cheese, pastries, bagels and toast, and some Scottish specialities. I got to try butteries! The staff in the hotel are great; young ones and those with more experience all deliver a consistent experience, a tribute to the training and culture here.

At times it was the very quietest of places, but there were times when the noise from other rooms was a problem. We must have had the same guests in the room above us all the time as their alarm woke us each morning just after 6am and then, for some reason, they walked around the room continuously (creak, creak) until 7.30am so there was no chance of us going back to sleep. Not much the hotel can do about this, and the noisy guests in the next room were only there one night, so it is just luck of the draw. There seem to be quite a few groups staying here to play golf and they are early risers. And on our final day there was no hot water (cold showers for us - brrrr) - apologetic staff but no offer of an acknowledgement of compensation in any form, which was a bit disappointing.

The reception team was terrific. We had a superb dinner and the breakfasts were excellent - the kitchen team was outstanding. The location was quiet, safe, and within easy reach of the city centre, well served by public transport.

Housekeeping seemed stretched so attention to detail was not in keeping with the quality vibe the hotel was aiming for - eg we found a piece of broken glass on our window ledge when we checked in (which we took to reception); there were pieces of a long plastic tie from a shop label of some sort on the floor; the bathroom cleaning had been rushed so the area behind the door under the towel rail needed more attention (it was better on the second day); and some towels were swapped out when others weren't. A lot of the staff were young and needed more training/experience to deliver the impeccable service the hotel was aiming for (but they were all very nice and pleasant, really trying to make our experience enjoyable).

The rooms were spacious with excellent facilities that were of a high quality. The bed was big enough to accommodate two six foot adults and was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean with an excellent shower. The restaurant and bar areas were modern clean and decorated to a high standard. The staff were excellent and provided fantastic customer care. The food was also excellent in terms of quality and range of choice. I like where the hotel is situated as it is close to town without being right in the hussle and bussel at night. There is ample , easily accessed parking at the rear of the hotel.

The room was very nice and clean, everything working as it should. We personally love the colour scheme and decor. The staff were very accomodating, I booked two separate rooms for two nights and helped make my check in easier by combining them. Breakfast is amazing, it is buffet style but the quality of food is so good! The location is pretty good for me, quiet but 20-30 mins walk or 5 mins drive to city centre. There's some good restaurants/cafes nearby as well. Free parking is always a bonus

It is pricey but then again, for the service and quality it's not completely unreasonable

It is well located, has good parking, looks smart and has character. I was very impressed by their efforts at sustainability and liked the fact they actively encouraged the development of their staff (someone was doing a research product as part of their degree). The staff were professional but friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast was excellent (good variety, quality ingredients) and well worth the extra we paid for it.

The set up was a bit confusing (3 separate buildings) and I felt things could have been better signposted.

Everything was perfect. The hotel is huge so finding your way around could be a challenge! The rooms were spotless. Powerful shower and fluffy bath towels are always a must and the Chester didn't dissappoint! Comfy beds and bedding too. Although we didn't have drinks outside, we noticed that the huge patio area had super comfy garden furniture with parasols and heaters so would be a nice place to sit and have a drink. The Chester is in a great location within a 10-15 walk into the city centre. We only stayed one night but would have liked to have stayed longer.

Nothing!

Perfect location - easy to reach from the main road and easy walking distance to city centre. Lovely big room with comfortable bed and bedding. Friendly, helpful staff at breakfast. The bottles of water and tea/coffee selection in the room was great.

The shower over the bath - even with the bath mat it was very slippy and I fell. The wall mounted shower head points straight out and sprays water over the floor. The corner edge of the glass shower door is sharp and uncovered - I cut my foot. Compared to the generous room size, the bathroom was small and cramped with no extractor fan.

The Chester hotel has beautiful rooms and excellent staff. Jess on reception was so helpful. The breakfast offering is still very good but we would prefer real coffee than out of a machine. Bar staff excellent knowledge and made experience even better. Toiletries used to be Noble isle but changed to more local to be more eco friendly. Bring back Noble Isle!

The toiletries- please go back to Noble isle. Sign posting re breakfast. Despite staying before part of breakfast had moved to totally different area and we nearly missed it. Coffee out of the coffee machine at breakfast. Wouldn’t take long to make a jug of coffee.

Hotel lovely, bar staff excellent 😊

The reception staff were very unwelcoming. We were confused over the car park entrance and a rope across the way to the back carpark. The older receptionist with glasses and and a hair bun, was rude and condescending. There was also confusion about the amount put on our credit card. Our room was changed, we were put in the basement window was to high to see out of, although lovely room. Also when we ordered a taxi from the bar, reception did not let us know it had arrived. Never came across such an unwelcoming hotel reception.

My room was very decent and comfortable and immaculate on arrival. I had a very pleasant and tasty breakfast which was an excellent start to the day. A very pleasant stay overall and I will certainly be back at the Chester in future.

The only real downsides were (a) that my room was a long way from reception and the corridor was narrow and twisty and (b) breakfast was in a separate building which would have been a real problem if the weather was not as good.
