Classically comfortable with a deliciously fresh and inclusive menu. Our stay was my treat for three generations and family friends and what a treat.Bright and contemporary where it matters and yet timelessly stylish all at the same time. The kind and considerate staff made sure we all had an unforgettable proper holiday. Its very well run and everything was just so... 😍 The chef's imagination and fresh quality ingredients gave us all a wide choice of delicious meals.

A real reluctance to leave ....

This is a traditional hotel which has been family owned for generations, so it has a homely feel and traditional furnishings, all to a high standard. Lots of comfy sofas and areas to sit quietly or in family groups. The hotel is quiet, relaxing and welcoming, a lovely home from home feel. The restaurant food is exceptionally good, small menu but excellent quality and modern presentation and extremely good value for money for 2 & 3 courses. Cooked breakfast also delicious. Plenty of allergy (gluten free) and vegetarian/vegan options too. We would defintely stay here again.

Room rate per night very high at £275 & £255 per night but I suppose that keeps the standards up but we were in the annexe over the road on the garden side, not in the main hotel, in a very nicely appointed, large room, nice warm radiators, large modern bathroom etc but sound travels so if noisy guests had been staying in the same block we would have been distrurbed and very unhappy, but thankfully not!

the location is perfect! as the hotel sits with view of the coast on the edge of the village, the room was lovely as the aircon kept the temperature on 18 !! when it was over 26 outside!! The private parking situated on the street behind the hotel is snug but plenty as it is hotel guests only, we arrived at 14.20 and there were still a few spaces! The bar is nice and the restaurant saved us as the rest of Aldeburgh seems to be shut unless you want Chinese take away or fish and chips(Sunday) and the fish and chip shop had a que of over 30 people!!!!!

The staff seemed very chaotic and we had to explain twice that we booked a table for dinner! Breakfast was supposed to be between 0730 and 10.00 but i had to wait and find somebody at reception as there was nobody around at 07.36!!!! When we got the bill they forgot we had dinner!!! so we had to explain we needed to pay for dinner on check out, which we had to do in cash as they couldn't do it by card, they were not ready with rounding up the day before!!!!!

Position of the hotel on the sea front. Bedroom seemed small on first impression but was larger after entry ,nice large comfortable bed . Shower was excellent. Food that was available was excellent as was the service. Nice small bar but plenty on nice rooms to sit and enjoy a drink plus nice area outside in the sun. Good lunch time menu and snacks. Very pleasant and relaxing break. Nice breakfast.

Too many stairs and no lift. Surprised that seafood items on the menu (crab and scallops)not available at 7.30pm as food served up to 9 or 9.30pm . Food supplied was excellent.

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and were available if things were not right. The food was very nice.

We had a room in the house behind which was a lovely big double room however the bathroom radiator started to bang loudly for about 30minutes at around 9:30pm and 1am in the morning. The first time we were told there was a problem with the boiler but it should be alright through the night as the heating was off. It wasn’t. We spoke to reception in the morning and were told it was a recurring problem but we could have a small double with a sea view that became available that morning. The room was a lot smaller but it was quiet. I was disappointed that they charged me extra for the room which unfortunately I didn’t check properly until I got home. I think I should have been told the room would be more money. The hotel clearly knows there is a problem with room 56. This is very disappointing.

Toast was soggy and coffee was cold on my first morning. 2nd morning I got the wrong coffee. Room was comfy - road view but was upstairs so looked over neighbouring roofs - birds eye view of seagulls Lunch in hotel was delicious Dinner was delicious know the hotel of old as had our wedding reception there and my mother's "do" after her funeral.

not a lot - its an old hotel in Aldeburgh that's comfy and - not an up to date hotel but its an hotel in an old building and there is only so much you can do - but that's its charm

Excellent position, you step out right on to the seafront, so ideal for early morning/ after dinner strolls, or a walk down to the town 5 minutes away. The food was excellent - we had only booked for breakfast but having tried dinner on the first night ended up eating in the hotel every night. Staff were friendly and our annex room was spacious.

Nothing really, it was a very nice stay - some of the car parking spaces were a bit tight but we always managed to find a space.

The staff were willing and helpful and had ready smiles The food was tasty and well presented The bed very comfortable The birthday plates and care with the cake were excellent

My request for a feather free bed was followed but sadly 4 large cushions, full of feathers, were artistically strewn on the bed !!!! I carefully hid these in the cupboard during our stay. My son, in a nearby room had a digital shower which ran out of water when my daughter-in-law used it a few minutes later VERY annoying. Reception were told but said nothing was wrong with it !!Did they actually try to use it ? I think not !

The public rooms were well decorated. The bedroom (Room 14) was roomy with a small lounge overlooking the sea. The restaurant was beautiful and well decorated. The food was extremely good.

The outside was in need of decoration. some service was lacking. We sat down in one of the public areas and ordered a drink. The waitress said I had to go to the bar to order and get the drinks. I was surprised at this but went. I got the drinks at the bar and charged them to my room. I then had to take the drinks all the way to my seat where my wife was wondering where I had got to. poor service.

Excellent location, our room had a wonderful sea view. We have stayed here a few times the service is always excellent and rooms are well appointed and decorated. Breakfast is served ( no horrid buffet) and Dinner is truly excellent. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. This hotel is elegant and comfortable with a lovely lounge and library and a small beautiful private garden.
