Burnett Arms Hotel

Breakfast was tasty and very good value if you want a cooked meal. Our mattress was very comfortable. Location on the high street was good for us as we did not have a car. Our room faced the main road and we had expected to have to put up with some noise from the street but it was remarkably quiet - of people and traffic. En-suite was clean and shower worked well. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The same member of staff gave us good advice about using the bus to get to the airport as well as very pleasant service at breakfast. Quite late at night one of the bar staff made us three hot chocolates despite a busy night at the bar. As we were there for a family gathering - a sister lived locally - we did not eat at the hotel other than breakfast.

The hotel and rooms are rustic and as expected.of a building built in the 1800s tidy and clean The bar staff remembered our drinks after the first one ordered and the bar was well stocked The breakfasts were very substantial and kept us going for most of the day And 100% goes to the front desk reception and also waiter at breakfast and valet who carried my bag up the 3 floors GRAHAM you made our visit very memorable It's not the Ritz but it's homely comfortable and welcoming Highly recommended 👌

A brilliant location, friendly staff, and extremely good value for money, I knew what I had paid, and therefore was very happy with what I received for that price.

The only slight consideration is the car park, it’s great as it’s free, however, it’s very small and limited in terms of getting a space, on street parking is limited to 45 minutes during the day which is tricky as well, I did manage to get a space later on in the evening though, and the fact that it’s free for guests is definitely a bonus.

Efficient check-in. Chatty and pleasant guy (with ponytail) served us food and drinks in the evening. Room was modern-looking and nice en-suite.

My room faced onto the main road with the bus stop directly outside. There was quite a bit of traffic noise and seagull noise. The breakfast dining area was quite dark and drafty. There were 5 of us in our group and we were seated directly next to the kitchen door. It would have been nicer to be through in the adjacent area next to the big window, with more space. I presume these tables were set up for breakfast near the kitchen for ease of food delivery, and so the adjacent room didn't need to be hoovered?

Room 29 was excellent and would definitely stay there again. Breakfast was served, so food hadn't been lying about for ages. Good choice available. Staff were all very welcoming and most pleasant indeed.

Old building, so there was no elevator. Was okay for me, but could have been difficult for someone with mobility issues. Some housekeeping items not in room, ie bath mat and glasses in bathroom for rinsing out toothbrush.

Great location, nice staff, good food, clean and comfortable.

My room was directly above the bar which was very lively every night, not good if you wanted to relax after a busy day, which I did on more than one occasion, you couldn't attempt to go to sleep before 12:30am due to the noise. It was like this every night, such a shame as it was a nice room.

The room was modern, bright with a very comfy bed. The bathroom had an excellent shower with instant hot water and soft fluffy towels. Everything clean and fresh. I liked the fact that as well as tea and coffee making facilities there were also a couple of bottles of mineral water. There was a good choice on the dinner menu and I enjoyed the meal. Staff were friendly and helpful.

After the pleasant modern bedroom the decor in the breakfast room and the bar area where I ate my evening meal was disappointing - in need of an upgrade.

The manager, who was also waiter/bar staff/cleaner was lovely and really made us feel very welcome. The walk in shower was great...plenty of room for 2. The bed was extremely comfortable and good pillows. We had an accessible room, which was very spacious.

The bedroom decor was dated and I went to open bedside cabinet and the door fell off! I would have liked a shower seat, as it was an accessible room. Unfortunately I had to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get to the first floor. I would have liked a menu for breakfast, as I'm not a fan of a cooked breakfast

The hotel was easy to find. Our room was much as expected, clean and good value. It was also quiet which considering it faced onto the main street was very welcome. We were able to reserve a table in advance for dinner in the bar on our first night and that was welcome in these difficult times. The food was basic pub fayre but well cooked and presented. We also were able to chat with a couple of locals while keeping socially distanced which made for a pleasant evening.

There was nobody on the reception desk when we arrived and maybe a notice telling us what to do or a bell to let people know we were there would have given us more comfort than simply waiting for a member of staff to come.

Staff gave 100% service....breakfast was top notch, as was room. Only quibble was the very expensive TV which hadn't yet been set up for standard TV use and will need an IT expert to set up fully. However the staff tried valiantly to sort it themselves. Very impressed by friendly efficient staff. Gold stars all round.
