We had the family room even though just a couple. The bed was amazing. You will see from my previous posts I have stayed in many, many places but that bed was fantastic. Staff lovely and the people in the bar were fun and friendly so I would spend time there. Near by good interesting restaurant called Babuls. There is a coffee place close by on tge same side which was nice.bIt was a great weekend. The taxi number thatl they have, definitely use them great as we had to go back and forwards from another venue. But the bed brilliant

The shower was difficult to get the right temperature

The bed was extremely comfortable and the tea/coffee making facilities were adequate. Enquired about whether breakfast could be arranged and a member of staff sought clarification and came back with a positive response. However, when we arrived in the bar at the time agreed (which was 8am) there were no staff to be found anywhere in the building even though the front door was open. We had breakfast elsewhere.

Another chair or a stool would have been appreciated as it was a double room. A bedside lamp also. There was a constant noise during the night which we assumed was the aircon for the public bar.

Comfortable beds we had a great night’s sleep. Even though the room was not en suite the toilets were opposite the room so it wasn’t so bad. The staff were fantastic there was a lady called Emily who went above and beyond, offered to come over and let me in the front door even if the pub was shut.

On an evening of the pub shuts you need to come in the back way and it’s quite a distance down the side if you have mobility problems like myself.

Very good location, close to adequate car parking. Friendly, polite and efficient staff. Lovely comfortable bed. The room was at the back of the hotel and so was nice and quiet.

It was a bit on the chilly side and I couldn’t find a thermostat or any temperature control on the radiator.

My friend & I had a family room which although was dated was very clean and the beds were so comfy. Breakfast was continental followed by a full English and at 12.95 was excellent value for money

The entrance around the back after hours was tricky to find. This is going to be addressed for future guests

no breakfast , location is good with loads of on street parking. staff were brilliant as a no thrills bed for the night the place is spot on i would stay again. wasn't worried about the no breakfast as a few places around to get some food.

to be honest i wish the new owners all the best and for the cost of a double room with ensuite its good value for the money. we stayed on the friday night and its karoke night so the bar is busy ,but it has a great atmosphere

Nice, friendly pub with a good atmosphere. Plenty of banter & good humour. We were only staying overnight & didn't know that Friday was karaoke night, so it was a little noisy but by 11.30 it was all quiet. We both slept well & had a great breakfast across the road at No3. Free on-street overnight parking available on Calgate. After 4.pm till 10.00am the following day.

Sliding shower door needed oiling.

Convenient location for the wedding we were attending, lots of pubs near by and easy to get a taxi around.

The walk round the back of the building when you’re having to get in after 12 was a bit of a pain and the heating being on over night was a struggle to get to sleep.

The room itself was old but clean, the pub was right in the centre of the town and great value for money.

Some rough customers in the pub when entering the property which would have put others off staying but other than that the place was grand.

I liked that the property was fit for purpose and well cleaned and staff were both friendly and helpful

Being above a pub the noise didn’t die down till late (but was not too loud) and nearby car parking can be difficult depending on how busy the town is.
