Excellent comfortable hotel in a lovely location. Nice bar with a good choice of local ales and the food was very good. Plenty of parking.

Fat pillows on a comfy bed, well presented breakfast, pub downstairs, exceptionally clean, good shower and seperate huge bath if that's your thing. Nice styling in the rooms, shutters at some windows looked great (altho not sure if would let early light in mid summer). Flat fee for taxi down the hill into Holmfirth (£6 Oct 2023) so fab for visits to the Picturedome for gigs.

The position of the property makes it pretty windy. Despite the double glazing, there were howls and rattles all night (and we had windows on 3 sides of the room). So I would recommend taking ear plugs if that would be a problem.

The bedroom was large, modern and tastefully decorated. Stunning views from the bedroom windows of the local countryside. The bed was comfy, powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Lovely meal had in the restaurant and bar was buzzing with a friendly and lovely atmosphere, all bar prices very reasonable. All staff encountered were smartly dressed, jolly, friendly, courteous and helpful. Great choice for breakfast, well presented and delicious. Car park was large, clean and free. Short taxi ride into Holmfirth only costing £6. Would highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning one day soon.

There was no door closer on the door leading outside to the car park. As our bedroom was above we could hear it slam shut every time someone entered or exited to pub. This didn't effect our stay too much as only using the bedroom as base and returned when the pub had shut but the door slamming did start quite early in the morning.

The friendly and hellpful staff, the buzzing atmosphere in the pub, the very good room and the excellent food.

After 10.30pm access to the bedrooms is only via the fire escape. This has steel steps with significant gaps on the treads. As a consequence, our dog could not walk up the steps; carrying a heavy Labrador on wet steps was not easy! For a dog-friendly accommodation this is a drawback.

Staff were great! Very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive but not obtrusive. Bed was comfy and view was lovely from the room. It's on a busy road but away from.the centre of Holmfirth and when the windows are closed you can't hear anything. We shared a cajun chicken burger with fries before we went out in the evening and that was plenty for us!

Breakfast was okay although the bacon had definitely been precooked and kept warm, so it was dry ... and the yolk of the fried egg was hard. Given that we were the only ones sat having breakfast, I would have expected it to be cooked from fresh. However it wouldn't stop me from booking again, but hopefully that will be passed down to the kitchen. Overall a pleasant stay, lovely spot and only 5 mins in a taxi to the centre of Holmfirth. (Taxi's only take cash by-the-way)!

Location great for the Holmfirth Picturedome, short taxi ride away. Beautiful outlook over the Bowshaw. The Staff were really welcoming & friendly. They serve locally brewed cask beers which are excellent and the food is of good quality & plenty of it! Don't tell too many people that it's a gem! :)

Nothing really, could have done with 2 pillows on the bed.

My first choice for staying in Holmfirth was sold out , but luckily I have now found this hotel and will always stay there for future visits. It is far easier to park here than in Holmfirth itself.

I was shown the access door to be used late at night and the staff checked that the key worked. Before I left to walk into town I actually checked the lock myself and it was very unusual and complicated to operate. I got to bed at about midnight and also two other guests came in behind me. At about 1am other guests were banging at this fire door as they could not operate the lock and key. Make sure that you test this lock and key before you leave to ensure that you are familiar with it ! Not at 1am after a few beers !

The breakfast was excellent. The service was second to none. In my partner’s and my opinion, the young lady who served was very attentive to all the guests needs. She was also very proactive in responding to guests departing the restaurant, by quickly clearing and cleaning the now vacant tables.

The Boshaw Trout lived up to our expectations. We are finding it impossible to write about what we didn’t like.For us, our accommodation and stay was perfect.

Room was excellent bed really comfy , Staff really friendly , good selection of beers , breakfast Saturday really good , had a meal on the Saturday superb, 20-25 min walk into Holmfirth down hill recommend a taxi back up 😄😄 Would 100% stay again

Sad to say looked like staffing and kitchen problems on the Sunday for Breakfast had to wait 1hr 15 mins then egg and beans came cold felt sorry fior the young girl on her own, took the gloss of the stay a little , But have to say it wouldn't put us off staying again as hopefull it was a one off and everything else for brilliant

Location good, up on the top of the hill, with fantastic views, short taxi ride back into Holmfirth & the Picturedome. Staff were very friendly & welcoming, also knowledgeable about the cask beers that were on sale from the local brewery. Breakfast was excellent, loved the black pudding.

The room was "bijou" but had everything we needed for a nights stay.
