Fantastic stay. Lovely staff. We had to cover the green fire door light in our room as it was just too bright during the night. Bed was a little springy however I think that’s just personal preference as we like a harder mattress. Room was very clean, just above door frames missed and top of the wardrobe (I’m a cleaner so quite picky!) food portion sizes were very good value for money with both breakfast and dinner. Lovely overall. Would definitely come back. Thank you
The fire door light in the room, too bright. Didn’t like not being able to come back past 11pm as we’d have liked to have visited some other pubs in the area but that was bye the bye as we had a great time in the rose itself!

Very clean, warm and welcoming. Really nicely situated with a nice warm glow and energy. I managed to park my motorcycle easily at the front of the premises. Excellent reception from the staff. Prompt helpful staff here overseen by the excellent friendly management of Richard the hotel/pub owner. Very clean room comfortable and well detailed. The food is excellent here. Really nice menu, I enjoyed a steak meal in the evening and a generous well cooked and served breakfast. Situated at the edge of the Peak District amongst scenic countryside.

This was an inexpensive room in a genuine Yorkshire village pub. Good hearty welcome. The pub was heaving with locals on Friday night when we stayed - all catching up with friends and the business of the week. We were clearly outsiders but made to feel very welcome by staff and customers. We chatted with people around us and all were accommodating - we loved it. The place is definitely not designer chic, or particularly rustic - just a good, honest, simple place catering to the local village and any one passing by. Food was excellent (not high class restaurant, but very well prepared, plentiful and tasty). Excellent fish specials menu on Friday night, with free bottle of wine if order 2 fish mains. 5 real ales on tap and we tried 3 of them! Room was simple but perfectly adequate. Beds are simple but comfortable enough. Bathroom is basic but in good condition and everything works. Everything very clean. Usual kettle + tea/coffee/biscuits. Nice outlook over neighbouring houses to rear of pub. Very quiet at night, though we could hear our neighbour showering when in our bathroom. Fantastic & large full cooked breakfast + tea/coffee + toast. Probably not much other choice. Finishes by 9am.
Other reviewers mentioned there is an emergency light on the ceiling. It just gives a dim green glow and absolutely did not cause us any problem. Parking on the street outside was fine. Pub is on the top of a hill so you do park on a slope. Really not a problem. You have to fit in if you want to enjoy this place. If you go with it, it's a blast!

Cosy but popular country pub. The breakfast was cooked to order and the host was very flexible. We could not fault the quality on either morning. We dined here on one of the evenings with family and wished we had chosen to eat on both evenings. The food and service were excellent. The mattress was like sleeping on a cloud. We both slept well. We would happily stay at the Rose & Crown again.
Parking is slightly challenging as the pub is deservedly popular. Be prepared to leave the car a short walk away but it's worth it.

We have stayed here before and the reason we went back is the staff are lovely they will put themselves out to make sure your stay is a good one. The food is lovely with big potions but they do a smaller meal which is still a good portion The breakfast is also very tasty and filling, being able to choose what you want is great, everyone is so friendly they make you feel so at home that’s why this was our second visit this year.
For us nothing they are all so friendly and helpful.

Warm welcome from Richard and staff, beautiful room with comfy bed, and good bed linen, soft snowy white towels, plenty of choice for hot drinks, plus water and cookies.. everything was very clean. Great menu for evening meal with good selection of drinks and choose whatever you fancy for breakfast, service is amazing and the girls are so friendly and helpful.. Due North , an acoustic duo, entertained us all to celebrate Richard's 15 years at the helm.. long hours and hard work, but it's a fantastic set up and works perfectly. Many, many thanks for taking great care of us, and look forward to seeing you all again
Absolutely nothing to dislike and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

We only booked for one night as we were going to a concert in Holmfirth. We received a very warm welcome, even though we'd arrived earlier than expected and the pub was very busy serving food. The staff on duty were very friendly and showed us to our room. The room was very clean and tidy as was the beautiful ensuite bathroom. The bed was really comfortable. So overall we had a short stay but a very nice one and if we're ever over them parts again we will be sure to call in.

A warm welcome from Richard and his team. Comfortable room. Nice bathroom and plenty of hot water for shower. Great food in the restaurant. Advised to book a table as very busy on Sunday 's. Pods available outside for outdoor ding and drinks for up to 8 people. Breakfast included in room rate. A bacon sarnie was all that was required after the great food we had the evening before. Location not far from Holmfirth, and cheaper.
Nothing to add. Shame about the weather as pub has great views.

A pleasant stay as usual. Richard and his staff are always friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable, and there is an extensive food and snacks menu. Our evening meals were first rate, and for breakfast we had tea and coffee and then Richard made us a very substantial bacon sandwich each to take with us on our homeward journey, as we weren`t ready for the full breakfast. There are many interesting local walks close to the property
As a personal preference, we would like the breakfast time to be a bit later.

Richard was very welcoming even though he had a large party in the bar. The evening staff were very professional, attentive and created a lovely atmosphere in the bar/eating area. The room had all the facilities that you needed. The bed was very comfortable. The evening meal was one of the best we had had in a while. It was freshly cooked and plentiful on the plate. The choice on the main menu was extensive as well as the special menu. Breakfast again was very plentiful and relaxed. This was real value for money.
Nothing.
