I was joining the local walking fest. The pub was surrounded by small lanes in an area i didn't know. This didn't put me off. As i have lived in country before. I just knew i had to be careful on the roads. Pub was in excellent location for the walks i wanted. Lovely pretty village feel. Shower excellent. Double bed nice to have extra space in hot weather. Good blind to cool the room with older windows which open wider than new. Good menu at night. Excellent selection of continental breakfast and nice cooked breakfast at weekend..

A few finishing touches in the room. Rust on towel rail. Rail to close to toilet. Quite a large step coming out of shower. Could hear someone snoring, noise from glass roof room outside lounge.

Beautiful listed building. Fur babies welcome. Rooms really comfortable with crisp white sheets on the bed and spotlessly clean. Lovely bathroom. Tranquil setting with beautiful outdoor seating area (blankets on hand should you feel cold) I had booked 4 rooms for our son's wedding, all of an excellent standard. Highly recommend breakfast, full Welsh breakfast or pancakes, all very tasty 😋 Staff were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. In general a wonderful relaxed place to stay with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you all

This is a beautiful listed building so there are limitations on what can be updated. Stairs maybe a slight challenge for those with bad knees 😊 but didn't impact our stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Every member of staff was lovely! The pub itself has a lovely welcoming feel, and the food there was absolutely delicious. We had a great meal, and they even surprised my partner with candles and pudding for his birthday! Our room was small but very cute and just what we needed. Breakfast in the morning was nice. It had a good variety, and we appreciated the hot breakfast on Saturday morning. I would highly recommend booking here to anyone. We had an amazing stay.

As to be expected, the roads to the pub were very much country lanes, so they were a bit tricky to manoeuvre. But we had it sorted towards the end of our stay!

This pub is in a very attractive, quiet location and very convenient for visiting the coast and Cardiff. The staff were welcoming and helpful; the chef even happily cooked us a meal when we arrived back just after the kitchen had closed one evening. Our room was large, with a sofa and tea/coffee making facilities plus a bath in the en suite. Breakfast was plentiful and attractively laid out and the two dinners we had were delicious. The pub had a friendly feel to it and we hope to return.

Breakfast - full welsh cooked breakfast served up from Friday, Saturday and Sunday - good portions - plus cereals, fruit juice and toast and jam also available; continental breakfast served up on Monday and I understand for the rest of the week. Dinner - good menu available with portions more than adequate. Room - Light and airy and our room had the extra advantage of a sofa bed if required. Good Bar and extensive gardens What made our experience extra special was we had good warm sunny weather over our weekend stay

Nothing we didn't like

The room was very clean. Staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much to ask for. The locals were all friendly. Beer was kept well and good quality and meals were superb, very generous portions cooked perfectly. It was also very dog friendly and our 2 little dogs setted in like it was home.

While no cooked breakfast in week there was plenty to choose from. Some of the outdoor furniture is tired but functional. Wine was a little pricey but other drinks were reasonable.

The cooked breakfast was awesome. The sausage was huge and locally produced (Barretts of Barry apparently). It is probably one of the best and largest full welsh (or english) breakfasts I have ever had. We were in Cardiff for family reasons but it clashed with a rugby weekend. This meant hiked prices in the city centre and a distinct lack of any value for money accommodation in the city of Cardiff itself. So this location was somewhat of an unexpected pleasure, not that much further out, in a very pretty village and on the plus side, much less traffic and far easier parking than in the centre of town. Plus the beer is excellent.

There were a few minor niggles with lack of toilet paper, tea bags and hot chocolate in the room but these were speedily remedied by the bar staff.

This is a hidden gem!!! Emily is a great host. On arrival, the little touch of fresh milk in a flask was very welcome after a long car journey. We ate in the restaurant at night and the food was very tasty. The local beer was lovely, and the locals in the bar made you feel very welcome. There was plenty of choice at breakfast,we had full Welsh,which set us up for the day. The village is very pretty and the Fox and Hounds is a great location only 20 mins taxi ride from Cardiff. Emily arranged a taxi to take us in for the rugby. Emily and her staff are very friendly and hard-working, and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be going back and would recommend giving them a try.

Reasonably close to Cardiff but the quiet village location is delightful. Next door to a really intersting historic church. The owners and staff all very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast and evening meal were delicious. The back story of the ownership of this pub is very uplifting and you get a real sense of community here.

The room was too warm even with the plug in fan provided. The outside temperature was pretty high so it wasn't a surprise but it did make it hard to get a decent night's sleep.

Staff, only met 1, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast as ordered and tasty. Bed very comfortable, room had good facilities.. We could let ourselves in with a key when we returned late at night. Allowed us to book in early and our rooms were ready as we were going to a wedding.

Decorations and carpets throughout looked tired and carpets holey in places. No milk for my tea in the morning in the room. Very steep stairs to upstairs with holes in carpet. The bun that my eggs benedict was served on was tough ? Stale.
