Excellent service , nothing was too much trouble for the staff

we booked with booking .com , it said we would have a patio , as there are no patios the entry needs rectifying . The room had a nice view of the Abbey but it was very noisy at night and from very early in the morning. Room rather small to be called superior! Needed superior as we are 2 ladies traveling and require single beds , they were very close together . We should've chosen a room at the back in retrospect, especially as the room was very hot and we would have liked the window open a bit with double glazing ajar. A small fridge in the bedroom would have been good, we were kindly given some fresh milk for our early morning tea but even behind the closed double glazing on the window ledge it went off ! Nice quality tea and coffee . dinner good , portions very generous.

Interesting , eclectic and quirky interiors. Very. Clean and in good order inside and out. Although rooms were small due to the age of the building , you have everything you need . Excellent shower. Strong wall hooks with plenty quality hangers. The bedding was wonderful high quality cotton . Staff were very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. Always willing to help. Food was imaginative and delicious. Original menu. Great location . Very good breakfast .

I personally found the mattress uncomfortable ,but my husband thought it was fine.. however I am a princess and a pea so take a single Duvalay topper wherever I stay away.

Breakfast: Great selection on offer. The food was simple and tasty Room: The room was clean and of a good quality. The information provided when booking was detailed and there was nothing unexpected Loved the small touches - 'Forgotten Things', Tea selection, Dog Treats available

Dinner: No where in the booking process or on Booking.com does it state that the pub/restaurant is closed for dinner service on a Sunday - so that definately came as a surprice. We were so looking forward to having a beatiful meal and drinks in the pub downstairs after reading such wonderful reviews on the food. Only once going onto The Abbey Hotel website did we see this information (after the fact)

Amazing experience for a great price. The hotel is literally opposite the Abbey and the site of the battle of Hastings! You can see it out the front windows. The food was great too, and the price was very good for such a great location and big comfy bed. But a young manager called Max was amazing. He was so kind, respectful, and very organised. He made very nice accommodations for us last minute and food from the restaurant to our room. The owners are a lovely couple with a lot of class and great customer service. They even dropped us off at the station when there were no taxis and it was raining a lot. Would very much like to come back again.

If I have to be nit picky, the only issue was some of the other staff (and the other manager, not Max) were complaining loudly enough that customers could hear about the number of people ordering Roast dinners on a Sunday. But they were understandably very busy cause the food is so good and the staff just needed to vent.

Complimentary full English breakfast was awesome. The room was nice and the bathroom very clean- great sink and taps and super pressure in the shower. Nice coffee and tea in the the room and also dressing gowns. The young lady on the bar was very friendly and pleasant, as was the man who brought my breakfast out. The atmosphere and decor in the bar was nice and the cheese burger and chips excellent, if over seasoned. The location was ideal for having a wander around Battle. There were some very nice flower arrangements both inside and out of the hotel.

The price (£8) and standard of my pudding was disappointing and to spend over £30 on a pint, burger, chips and pudding seems excessive. Not having a choice where to sit in the morning for my breakfast (although only one other person was having breakfast at that time) and being directed to sit directly in front of the bad news being broadcast on TV wasn't my idea of a relaxing start. My welcome when I arrived was "can you close the door behind you please?" and this staff member seemed constantly on the verge of annoyance.

The food was amazing, we were told it was the chef's first shift, however you would have never known. We were a big table with a big order and all the food was cooked to perfection. The owners of the hotel were lovely and polite and even though you could see they were extremely busy, they still made time to stand and have a chat with us. The garden out back was absolutely beautiful and our room was beautiful too. The shower was amazing and I never wanted to get out. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and well made and cosy dressing gowns were supplied as well as lovely bug towels. There was a wonderful mix of hot chocolates, coffee and tea available to help ourselves to. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Only suggestion i could make (and it's not even a necessary one) but the lower end of the garden could use a few more lights and maybe some heat lamps around the tables areas too. However the hotel do offer a blanket for you to snuggle in, which I think was a lovely idea!

I enjoyed the whole experience of staying at the Abbey Hotel. The facilities were excellent, as was the location. The cleanliness and the room was superb. The value for money was first class. the staff were also very friendly and helpful. I only had breakfast at the hotel, but there was everything I could ask for and the service was very good. I will without a shadow of doubt stay her again and will recommend it to anyone who is going to stay in Battle.

There was nothing I did not like or was unhappy with.

The property was directly across the road from Battle Abbey so very central. Staff very helpful booking taxis and advising on a place to eat, as we stayed on a Sunday and they don’t do evening meals only lunch on a Sunday. Breakfast was included in the fee and was excellent. They also changed our room with no fuss as we decided to stay an extra night. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff pleasant and friendly.

The car park is cross the road (but not too far). We weren’t advised there would be no evening meal available on the Sunday (I had emailed the request) but luckily there is a restaurant open in Battle (Italian) which was pleasant.

I received a phone call from the hotel early evening to ask when I would be checking in as I was going to be late arriving. The welcome from the owner was lovely, the room was fine, the bed very comfortable and the ensuite small but perfectly formed. The breakfast was very good - bacon egg and tomatoes were beautifully cooked. If I need to stay in Battle again I will book the Abbey Hotel again.

Walls are a little thin, so some sound escapes, but not so much as to spoil sleep. Parking is not on site so visitors arriving by car will need to pay for car parking at Battle Abbey (free if you are an English Heritage member) or at the nearest car park.

We requested if we could check in early as the Wedding we were attending was at the same time as check in and we were delighted that we were able to check in more than an hour earlier. The room was a good size and very clean with an excellent array of Tea and Coffee, Hot Chocolate and Biscuits. The bed was comfy and the linens were fresh and clean. Complimentary toiletries were to a high standard. The breakfast offering was exceptional and the food was hot and served on a hot plate.

The shower room was snug and there was no window.
