We loved staying in Bedford Swan Hotel. The room was not big, though had everything in it including a small fridge, a desk, a small round table, an arm chair and a chair. The room was nice, clean and the bathroom - spotless, with a most comfortable shower. The staff were very nice and helpful thoughout the days and nights to attend any issue. The view from our room was so beautiful - the river, with swans swimming back and forth. There is a very beautiful walk through the park along the river. The hotel is centraly located and in a walking distance from markets, supermarkets, shopping centers, restaurants.

The cupboard in the room is small and the fridge which is inside, takes place. There is not enough space for clothes, though it is not a problem for short stays. Breakfast was disapointing, especially because we are vegans and one of us doesn't eat gluten. While booking, we mentioned it. The selection of food was not big enough and we had to bring our own vegan gluten free bread. In spite of that, in future we would be very happy to stay again in Bedford Swan Hotel.

the Hotel MUST make it very clear on booking that any attendance (not just a "session", which suggests a treatment or similar) at the SPA needs to be booked in advance; the reception didn't have access to the spa diary, when I tried to book, it had no slots for the whole day and wasn't clear how to get a midday slot without going for a 2 hour one; I managed to get in to the spa anyway; no bottles of water in the room or around the hotel; also there wasn't a car parking space, I had to park by the river and pay, which wasn't good.

My wife and I booked the hotel for three night as we were attending a Reggae festival in Milton Keynes. First impressions, the outside of the building does not sell it very well as you wont think much of it. However, wait till you get inside,and prepare to be amazed. The hotel lobby, reception area and the furniture, its all just exquisite. Our room was really nice, clean and with a vintage theme which my wife and I really liked. I think we booked a standard room. The size could have been bigger, but considering what we paid, we cant complain. Even the bathroom had the same vintage theme, the deco, taps and florring. The bed was comfy with spotlesssly clean bedding. Nice big mirrror in the bathroom. My wife made the most of it putting her make up on. I enjoyed the shower so much it was difficult to get out the bath. Breakfast was fantastic, full english and loads of options to choose from. The dining area itself is just beautiful. It sure does feel like an upgrade from the odd budget hotels we all know. I also like the fact that you can check out as alte as 12 noon. The hotel is located in central, bedford and its barely 100 yards from the main street where all the clubs and pubs are. It also overlooks the waterYou,ve also got Nandos and McDee next door. Another think I liked was that they have secure parking and its free. I dont take free parking for granted anymore. Having staying in a few hotels before, I know parking can be an issue sometimes.

I did not like the breakfast coffee. It was too strong for me and very bitter.

Beautifully decorated hotel. Very clean. Air conditioning was much appreciated as it was quite hot in the room. Staff were friendly & helpful. Lovely restaurant on site with a good selection of food/drinks & a cute afternoon tea spot too. Great location on the river. Parking on site which was secure. Spa is lovely!

It's a shame you have to pay a fee on top of your stay to access the spa. The room was very noisy due to being next to the river where there were drunken revellers shouting outside & given it's an old building there was internal noise & vibrations too. The bed felt a little old/springy.

The Bedford Swan is literally in the perfect location. On the main strip directly in the town + overlooking the canal, with such beautiful views! The staff are so lovely + accomodating. The accomodation is so gorgeous with antique furniture + art on display. I’d love to stay again if I return to Bedford + experience the spa!

Only elevator access to level 3 [as far as I know] + the elevator is very small + slow so it is time consuming to take every time you want to leave or return to your level.

Breakfast was fine apart from if you wanted a fried or poached egg you had to order it separately!! And the breakfast items probably could have been slightly more hotter but we did get there very close to the end of the breakfast time but you can almost forgive that because of the most exquisite setting for breakfast

There there was nothing that springs to mind that we didn't like, I've mentioned on a previous reeview that possibly the only issue was that there was creaking coming from the upstairs someone walking around but it wasn't too obtrusive also early in the morning there was a little bit of banging obviously the cleaning of rooms were being done, but let me say this is being really really picky

lovely hotel excellent spa

Disappointed with the food. I ordered extra potatoes and the waitress kindly told me I would have to pay extra. The duty restaurant manager then came over and pointed out, rather abruptly that I would have to pay extra for the potatoes which the kind waitress had already explained. when I asked the manager for water she just asked one of the staff to get it. I didn’t get a check back about the beef which was dry. I have eaten at the Pen and Cob many times but this was not a good experience. When I went for breakfast the drinking crockery on my table was chipped. Also didn’t help at one point when I was trying to get back to my table with my breakfast and a couple of the staff were cuddling and chatting directly in my path.

Perfect location for enjoying the river and heading into town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean and noted staff cleaning banisters and restaurant menus whilst there. Dinner at Pen and Cob was tasty and decent portion size. Breakfast was also lovely. Spa was amazing! I went for some TLC and me-time and definitely got it. Would definitely and return.

I stayed in a single room and the wardrovbe space was limited - a half height single rail wasnt really enough. Needed full length to hang coat and dress.

Great location, lovely and clean.

Not a lover of buffet style breakfasts lots of items has run out and constantly had to ask to replenish. Only came down once out of the three days as it wasn’t the best. Bacon too undercooked for myself. Prefer fresh breakfast brought to the table. I’m sure a-lot of people like buffet style but when I’m paying nearly £150 a night In Bedford I did expect a bit more.
