Love the garden and terrace. Welcome respite from the city. Chose central location for ease of public transport. Metro train and buses at hand. Cars reduced due to city toll. Many places of interest nearby , Barber Institute at Birmingham University, Black Country Museum, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Aston Hall - accessible by train or bus. Jacobean furnished in the style of the period, near Aston Villa football club for sports fans. Good range of restaurants. I like the Garden House, Hagley Road short walk out from the city.
Very generous range of breakfast foods. Last time I had breakfast. Too generous for me !.

Beautiful hotel, very comfortable and clean. Close to tram stop or a 15 Min walk into the city. Ample secure parking
Buffet style breakfast but totally disorganised. Unable to eat together as a family as dishes constantly empty and not replenished. Long wait for dishes to be replenished, but only then aminimal quanity of fresh hot dishes provided at a time. Continental choices were the same, constantly not replenished Restaurant staff appwared very reluctant to serve refreshments. When actually provided tea would be luke warm and table not cleared when eaten.

The hotel was ideally situated a few hundred metres from the Edgbaston tram stop. Tram rides into and from town were every 10minutes or so and all day tickets were inexpensive. Although the hotel was situated just off a busy main road it was not bothered by traffic noise. Our bedroom was situated at the end of a far corner of the building, along a a maze of stairs and corridors. The ensuite bedroom was a good size, clean and warm, with plenty of storage space for our clothes. A choice of continental or cooked breakfast was on offer on a help yourself basis. Freshly cooked, with plenty of choice. The hotel bar was well stocked. The management and staff were friendly and very helpful.
Nothing to dislike.

Not quite in the center, but was not a problem for my stay. Historic building with a fantastic breakfast room (former ball room). Clean rooms. Excellent breakfast. Overall good value for money
The heating system is not really optimal, at least in the room I stayed. No heat in the radiator and cold in the room, one has to ask at the reception to switch heating on, but then it is very hot, so optimal time is probably 2 h. If you stay several days then asking every day is a bit annoying. It is probably not an issue in summer when it is warmer or in winter when one would heat all the time. Also, in 4 days I stayed nobody came to make the bed and to change the towels. Probably this would be possible on the request.

The original part of the building is beautiful The night manager, Miles, and the day time reception Tom, were both really good. Both were very professional, very approachable, helpful, friendly and efficient, they made our stay The refurbished rooms are pleasant enough The breakfast was ok
There's a charge fir parking if you book through a 3rd party but not if booked direct with the hotel. The building us beautiful but could do with some TLC in places The extension is particularly ugly, looks like an old butlinesque holiday camp. Not all the rooms have been refurbished, the rooms that havent been done need doing asap The coffee at breakfast was unexpectedly awful and reaching the utensils used to plate breakfast is awkward, for shorter people it's particularly difficult. On balance, its over priced for what it is but ok

The room we booked was out the back which was not the best so we upgraded to stay in the hotel itself which was lovely as we had the suite the bed was very comfortable, and the rooms very spacious the receptionist was very helpful.
I was disappointed in the breakfast no juice even though it was advertised I had to keep asking the staff for things as they brought my tea but no milk, the eggs run out and then they only brought 2 out so others had to wait, for the price of the breakfast I think they could of done better.

An interesting Victorian front of the hotel. It was surprisingly quiet in the rooms, despite the front of the hotel being on a busy road. The English breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice. There is a Morrison's supermarket down the road. The hotel has parking and is located just outside the Clean Air Zone (useful if you have a car that would be charged).
Paying for the parking - although it was very convenient.

The location is just a 20 minute walk from the Utilita Arena and a 30 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street and it is also served by the tram system and local buses. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean and quiet. All appliances worked. The wi-fi was fine. The reception was staffed on arrival and upon leaving and I had no problems getting in after 10.30 using the keycard. All staff were friendly and helpful.
It is a long walk to the bedrooms and the kettle is too large for the sink - I had to use the plastic cup to fill, which is not environmentally friendly.

The hotel building and decor is very nice and everything was comfortable. Special shout-out to the gentleman manning the door and bar late at night. He was by far one of the most attentive, friendliest and engaging individuals I have come across in the hospitality industry in the UK. We felt so at home after returning from our concert. Easy place to walk from to get to the Utilita Arena, passing loads of restaurants and bars.
Paying for parking on the hotel's own grounds. This should never be at an additional cost to already paying customers.

The staff were amazing and went above and beyond for us. My son is gluten intolerant and the lad on reception was brilliant at telling us good places to eat in the evening. Also the breakfast for him was fabulous best we have seen for him with so many options. We were told to call down 20 min early to give them time to cook it all for him
The only niggle was the pull out sofa bed the mattress was so thin on it you could feel the bars maybe 2 singles beds would be better for family rooms which I no isn't ideal ans see why you have the sofa bed or even a better mattress xx
