Great location in a really pretty village - very quiet, with lovely walks through fields. We walked a couple of miles to Great Chalfield Manor (National Trust) by lane and back through footpaths coming out behind The Old Glove Factory property development (which has been very sympathetically done) and happening upon a rope swing in a tree! The owners had only taken over the property about 3 weeks prior to our visit, and seemed to be doing a great job. Lovely decor, wide menu catering to variety of dietary preferences, tasty food, courteous and smiley service. Outdoor covered area for eating/drinking as well as inside the pub. Lots of character.

Our room was in the eaves, and we are both tall, so spent the whole time ducking and inching around the bed. The shower cubicle and bathroom were a bit tight, however everything worked well and the pros far outweighed the cons.

Lovely situation and the facilities were great. Having a fridge in the room was very handy. Staff were very welcoming. In addition to a wonderfully tasty breakfast, we ate in the restaurant one evening and enjoyed a lovely meal.

Sadly we stayed during the heatwave and had to have the windows open all the time. My room overlooked the car park and outside seating area. To obtain the maximum air flow I had to leave the blind up which meant it felt as if anyone could look straight into the bedroom. It was also very noisy until late, but it was to be expected given the weather at the moment, and the property owners could do little about it, although it did spoil our enjoyment.

Fabulous breakfast great choice, beautifully cooked. Happy vibrant atmosphere, nice location so much to see and do as we are leisure cyclists there were many off road routes around. The staff were great.

Room was little cramped and noisy.The weather was warm we needed to keep the windows open so we were able to hear the happy but noisy conversations of the visitors to the pub and restaurant who were dinning outside. The toilets were directly under our room and the sound of the hand blower driers was like some one was drilling into a wall below, this did disturb our sleep until everyone had gone home. That said we definitely would stay again.

A great place to stay & we would definitely stay again. A lovely Inn with those slightly uneven floors and lots of olde worlde character. Exceptionally clean & comfortable. Fantastic breakfast. Lovely staff that respected your privacy.

It was quite noisy in the evening (being an Inn that's slightly understandable) but after lots of travelling some quiet would have good. We also couldn't take advantage of the free WiFi until the morning, presumably the Inn patrons we all using it! At breakfast we weren't offered cereal or toast just straight to the cooked food but what we had was delicious.

We had booked two rooms for our overnight stay, both of which were most comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and most accommodating with breakfast, as two of the party had to leave early in the morning, yet we were able to have a lovely breakfast before the official starting time. My daughter has coeliac disease, and the staff catered amazingly for her gluten free requirements. My partner and I had dined in the restaurant the evening before, and the food was excellent. The stay was excellent value for money too.

We have nothing negative to say at all. There was a small issue on arrival with one of the locks not working on the room door, but this was quickly rectified by the staff and was not a problem.

Everyone friendly and super efficient My preference for a pie differed from what advertised and on third night they had sourced one (close to what required) one and had it on menu. Breakfast was excellent and able to deviate from menu within limits Full marks all round and when in area again this will be my first choice

Couldn’t fault it excellent

Fantastic friendly and professional staff. We had dinner in the dining room and the food and service were just right.. Chef impressed with a well judged blend of flavours and finesse (it's not often that even a restaurant bowl of seasonal vegetables are so well looked after, perfectly seasoned and presented, and also generous in proportion). Deserts were very naughty and we loved all 3 we tried. The front of house crew were all friendly and knowledgeable and made us very welcome. Altogether the experience was just what we were looking for.

Charming old Inn located within idyllic village. Safe off-road parking for my motorcycle in private car park. Characterful room in annex attached to Inn was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. All the members of staff we dealt with could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Evening meal purchased at the Inn was of an exceptional standard.

My room was quite basic for a 4* establishment, but was very clean and the toiletries were nice. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding of good quality. I appreciated the Smart TV. However due to the Tollgate's location on the junction the traffic was noisy from 6.30 am onwards so I would take earplugs next time. The breakfast was very good and the staff lovely and friendly.

The food was totally excellent, the staff really friendly and helpful, and nothing was over-priced. The rooms are quirky and fun, and in some the wifi is slow; but you’re staying in a listed building with thick stone walls! This was the fifth time I’ve Stayed, and won’t be the last.
