so i had read the reviews about the place being a bit run down and needing a lick of paint, i would say thats true but it is crammed with period features, a pleasant pool and friendly staff. The staff went out of their way - especially sue to check us in meet all our needs (3 rooms) and accommodate us with a table setting for ordering food in which we sat and had in the pleasant grounds We looked at Bath for this Saturday night stay not much under £200-£250 this was £65 inc breakfast and pool a short drive or train ride from bath, with ample off road free unreserved parking. some areas need improving but it only claims to be 2 star, i would chose it next time i stay in the area

As i said some areas need TLC looking shabby but then it would lose its charm and cost more

The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast good and the swimming pool clean and inviting. The hotel was easy to find and close to where we wanted to be. What made the visit were the staff. I have stayed in lots of hotels but the staff in this hotel were the most welcoming, friendly, adaptable, nothing was too much trouble that I have ever come across.

As a lot of comments say it could have been a bit cleaner. I suspect COVID hit the hotel hard and it running on a skeleton staff with many of the facilities closed. Which is a shame as it could be an amazing hotel.

The building and grounds the setting beautiful building original features the gardens are lovely, breakfast local produce hot lots of it nothing was too much trouble cereal fruits and yogurt to help yourself and hot drinks and juice. The staff are lovely, Chelsea was on reception when we arrived, rushed off her feet with arrival of guests she showed every guest to the room showed where the facilities were breakfast room lounge and pool and gym, she had the warmest welcome for all guests, she was pleasant calm totally professional and managed a difficult guest while other guests waited in ear shot. Throughout our stay she was fab polite knowledgeable for places to go and for food. She was amazing a total credit to herself and the hotel. Will be returning for a stay with my sister soon, please sort the sauna etc.

On the website it states sauna hot tub and gym spa pool available throughout your stay. Not that I wanted any treatment but none available no staff in the beauty suite. There are two saunas one in each changing room these are off apparently since covid and have not been put back on, the hot tub was off, the pool was freezing and opened 2-8. Pool needs to be hot and available all day.

The hotel was used as a base to look around Bristol Bath Wells Frome and surrounding area. The room was very good value for money ,the breakfast cooked to order was of good quality. The staff were particularly helpful. The pool was open from 8am to 8pm weekdays so I could enjoy a swim before breakfast. No restaurant on site after breakfast but the staff made it clear we could order in food and they would provide plates and cutlery.

Nothing to dislike as very good value for money. It was a real bonus to have the pool. Some may say the water was cool however I normally use a pool that is the same temperature so the water was heated to the level of a fitness pool.

Location excellent for the purpose of my trip. I arrived late due to train delay - night porter helpful. Breakfast was ok thank you but I did not get what I had specified on the form. The porter very kindly sourced me an alcoholic beverage which we agreed I would pay for in the morning. However, when I checked out this morning there was nobody at reception to take my payment. Obviously I will email about what I owe.

Mattress softer than desirable for my personal preference. Wifi password was not offered to me on arrival.

Fieldways is a beautiful old house, it has a National Trust feel. The downstairs receptions rooms and breakfast room was amazing, very olde worlde with wood panelling, plush chairs and old books on shelves. So fascinating. The bedrooms were eclectic, but clean. The bed was so comfortable, we slept really well. We paid for breakfast and it was very tasty and lots of selection. Sue, who greeted us, is a multi-tasker extraordinaire and so helpful and lovely, she went above and beyond. Yes, the place is a little tired, but it is characteristic for its age. We loved that about it. Sue even gave us a print out of the history of the house, which was great.

We only stayed one night and we were literally there to sleep. I just felt sad it was a little tired and needed a little bit of love because it's such a fantastic building with great potential and wonderful staff.

Overall, everything was fine.

The place has obviously seen happier times. I don't know what had happened, but it looks as if they are just keeping everything to a bare minimum. The bar is closed, the gym is now only open on weekends apparently, the windows could see some cleaning, etc. It is located in a very nice Victorian country house, so it's a pity they don't really seem to bother.

The receptionist, Sue, was nothing short of amazing! An asset to the business! She greeted us warmly and ensured our breakfast slot suited us. She showed us around the hotel and explained about the night~access door. She even gave crystal clear directions to the nearest pubs, supermarket and take away shops where we bought essential supplies (wine, Radox bubbles and fish n chips!) Breakfast was served in a delightful, oak clad library with a delicious full English cooked breakfast, cereals, juices and fruit/yogurt available too with unlimited serve~yourself tea, fruit/herb tea and instant coffee. Would definitely stay again. The overnight snow was magical to wake up to!

Walls are quite thin so you can hear neighbouring room use bathroom but the stunning manor house hotel more than makes up for that small issue.

Gorgeous building, comfy bed and Sue on reception was very friendly and helpful. WiFi was included, found the password in a bedside drawer and some interesting info on the building. The print outs were a bit grubby though, could do with laminating and displaying more prominently. Walking distance to two of pubs and looked like there was a bus stop outside too although we drove. Free parking was good.

I'm glad I'd read reviews before we went as i was expecting what we got. A touch of faulty towers 😂 Main building and original features were stunning although needed a hoover. Bathroom was dated/had seen better days. Swimming included was a bonus although again the pool and changing rooms had seen better days. Sauna and jacuzzi out of action with leaves gathering in the bottom! Breakfast was basic served up without a smile by what seemed to be the odd job man but felt all of this was reflected in the fair price. And as other reviews have said you need to decide what you want for breakfast and book a time slot on arrival! You can see this was once a very grand place, it's a little sad that it's no longer in its heydey. We enjoyed our stay though.

I loved the history behind the building and the age of the place meant it was full of little quirky panels and gargoyle. The room was clean with comfy beds and clean sheets. The bathroom had shower and bath. Lots of character and the owner was very welcoming and gave us a great tour of the place and told us about the history of the place which was a great bonus. Breakfast was in a beautiful room and the food itself was lovely with full English and cereal. Juices and hot drinks on a help yourself so great value

Decor was rather tatty and lots of little issues with door that had dropped and dirty windows. The pool water was clean but around it was very tatty and aged. Jacuzzi wasn't working or the sauna.
