Set in Suffolk countryside within easy reach of the A14, Bury St Edmunds and surrounding area Loved the character and authenticity of the property.....good quality furnishing throughout, which has obviously been well cared for. Easy, friendly check-in/out, All the staff were helpful, professional and welcoming. The room was warm with clean bedding and towels. TV, free Wi-Fi, iron/ironing board, tea/coffee making facilities. Four-poster bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, atmospheric lighting, 2 comfortable chairs, enough electrical sockets and beautiful mirror on chest of drawers. Private bathroom with both shower and fabulous bath. The food is prepared "in-house" by a very good chef and is top quality without an excessive price tag There is a small swimming pool, well maintained poolside area and lawns. We hope to return again and wish the establishment and staff well

The wooden key tag is a bit cumbersome but you can leave it at the desk if you are returning to the property before reception closes for the night

Great breakfast and ideal location for Bury St Edmunds. A very historical and interesting building and excellent staff who were so super friendly. I have to shout out Cheryl and nothing was too much for her to make our stay an exceptional one.

Unfortunately the kitchen closed early on a Sunday and 6pm was too early for us to have our evening meal. However Cheryl took the time to ring us on the afternoon to inform us of this and also looked for local alternatives for us as well and this was above and beyond and we really appreciated it.

Lovely property just a stone throw from Bury st Edmunds. Very quiet in lovely grounds. The room was spacious, comfortable and had everything you need. Lovely little touches with period pieces and a booklet not only with all the information you might need but also with the history of the house itself. Very friendly and attentive staff. We had a dinner and a breakfast there which were delicious. Also pet friendly. We'd definitely stay again

The property could do with a little tlc - there are some cobwebs, cracks in the walls and an old carpet but it does look like it's being addressed as there are already signs of improvement

Lovely cosy lobby and restaurant area. Beautifully decorated Christmas tree, fireplaces and doorways. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and the dining room beautifully set out. We stayed in one of the annexes as we had asked for no steps if possible. The room was small but perfectly formed with a good size bathroom. We even had a little Christmas tree in our room which we thought was a nice touch! Would definitely recommend staying here and it was a great price for bed and breakfast

Nothing, we thought it was a lovely place to stay

My colleagues and I stayed at Ravenswood because we had a function to attend at that location the following day. Our stay and the event were very good and the staff exceptional.

Regrettably and not helped by the wet weather the car-park was at a distance and was awash with mud etc. This was made difficult for some of our disabled guests who had to park in an adjacent field. This is something that the new owners need to take account of when considering the logistics of featuring events as well as catering for hotel guests. Thank you.

Service at reception and evening meal was excellent as was the meal itself. The grounds and general ambiance work for me. Event the geese seemed pleases to see me.

The chap serving breakfast could do with a bit of basic training. I arrived 2 minutes early at 07:28 he told mumbled something and disappeared. There was no obvious table set up for me to sit at so I stood by the bar and listened to him talking and laughing with some one at the back. After about 10 minutes I went to get him he said he could start taking orders. I told him not to bother and set of home. I would have been happy with an espresso.

Loved the grand entrance & drive into the hotel. Loved the geese & squirrels. The location was excellent very quiet with lovely gardens. The shower was good quite powerful. Tea & coffee making facilities were good with biscuits. Breakfast was great we had a Full English.

The bed was horrendous, for us a good night's sleep is a must. We stayed in the Abbey Room in the main building, the bed was 2 mattresses on top of each other which was quite bizarre. The bed creaked, every time you moved or turned it creaked it was awful. The room was quite dusty, we appreciate this is a very old building but cleanliness is important. The lighting in the room was bizarre you couldn’t just switch the bed side lamps on as they were connected the the main lights. The swimming pool needed cleaning, it was full of leaves.

The evening meal was excellent, with very good service and pleasant helpful staff.

Breakfast could have been better with cereal being ordered at the table rather than buffet style, but the actual cooked breakfast was good. There was no butter or marmalade on the table , had to keep bothering the waiter! The lighting in the bedroom was poor, quite dark and trying to put on makeup was a nightmare! Also there appeared to be no lighting on the stairs outside leading to the upstairs bedroom, which was dangerous and once you got to the top finding the keyhole with no light was very difficult!

Was a lovely quiet hotel with a little bit of luxury. Food was great. Staff really nice & friendly. Very hard working. Great that the weather was warm enough to use the outdoor pool. Building full of history. Had a room in the main building which was great with a very comfortable four poster bed.

Would be noisy if the pavilion is in use in a mews room with the loud music. Not so bad in the main hotel.

All staff welcoming and friendly.

On Saturday, the staff were unhelpful in the morning. For example, they couldn't book a taxi for me. At breakfast they just seemed overwhelmed when asked for a cereal bowl. This was just a one-off day though and didn't repeat.
