The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and very good value for money. They state their ingredients are locally sourced which is something we liked too. The location suited us for our needs this weekend and I can imagine that it is very well visited by ramblers. The restaurant area is cosy and the bar area welcoming I was also impressed by how much gluten free was available on the menu.

Saying that we didn't like something is a bit strong, we just feel that the breakfast dining area could be improved as some of the seats were a bit worn and the décor was tired looking.

it was clean, quiet and comfortable and the situation was good for my purpose.

I did not know how to work the shower and the light in the hallway was not working. ? bulb issue. I did report that to a young male member of staff but I was only there 2 nights so did not matter too much that it was not attended to. I would have appreciated a stool in the bathroom and some sort of handles to help my balance. and a towel rail next to the basin. And the mirrors were situated too high for me at 5 feet!

Large room, comfy bed, good large towels, strong shower, excellent friendly staff. The best thing was the delicious food. The hotel is in the middle of great walking country . We walked in Dovedale and to Monsal Head and visited Biddulph Grange on the last day. Many cafes in town for sandwiches and a famous cheese shop.

Good breakfast, lovely village, and the village has shops etc so it is convenient (for a non driver like me). I liked sitting at a table out front with a pint and watching the world go by. The negative was that it was either crazy expensive or impossible to get taxis from there. The big positive was that the owner stood in to save the day!

Room size. Staff where very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfy.

Just little touches, furniture needs replacing. Shower needs replacing, they run off the taps and so hard to get temperature right, it's either to hot or to cold. In my opinion if you spend a little on updating the room would be great value for money. Maybe charge a bit more. Please don't take this the wrong way, we had a great time. Room 4.

The size, the furnishings and the layout of the room, the view and location was brilliant. Great parking at the rear of the property and a great pub and restaurant as well, couldn’t be better, didn’t want to leave and no one pushed to checkout, very relaxed and wonderful staff.

We returned following our visit from the previous year because it was so good

As it ids a guest hotel and pub - it was very disappointing to find that the beers coolers were not working so we was very limited on what drinks we could have - following our ore booked meal, we had to use the other pub in the village which was not why we choose to stay there.

Clean room with enough space for what we needed. Free parking which was useful and a good sized bed.

A lot of noise could be heard from the pub which we didn't mind because it was new year's eve but if this was something that happened regularly it may be a problem for some people. Room was fairly basic.

Lovely old building, evening meal & cooked breakfast were very good. Room was good. Shower was hot & powerful Staff were all pleasant & helpful Make sure you check your car in at the bar! Thanks Dee, I had a great time.

Lovely building with lots of character. Parking on site and good location for lots of walks and attractions in the area.

My only disappointment was that the sound between rooms carried very easily (footsteps, snoring and tv etc) not that there's any possible quick fix for this that the pub could put in place.
