The Queens Head Hotel is what I would call an old no-frills traditional pub with lodgings - and that's a positive. The staff were very friendly, helpful and obliging upon arrival and throughout. The room was in a new-build separate annex to the rear of the pub and was quiet, clean, comfortable and had all the usual expected facilities. The hotel was very lively in the evening and had the bonus of live groups playing at weekends providing free entertainment. Breakfast was tasty and ample. Location was fairly central for the "upper" town and only a short walk away from Buxton Pavilion and the town centre.

Hotel is well situated and only a few minutes walk from the pavillion down the hill...parking is on the market place a few yards from the hotel but you need to park on the far end passed Sainsburys if its to be a market day... if you park nearest the hotel you will need to move your car by 5am! Rooms are meticulously clean and the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely linen and a kettle and coffee (perhaps a few herbal teabags would be good) Our room looked out onto the street but blind and curtain made it lovely and dark...There was a rock band on in the hotel at night (who were very good) and although we retired to bed whilst they were still playing we didnt hear a thing!! Breakfast was made with good quality ingredients and was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful

The hotel itself we thought looked a bit dark and old fashioned in this day and age, but it IS a traditional type hotel with dark carpets and lots of dark wood..this said it is still a great place to stay and if we are ever in Buxton again we wouldn't hesitate to book.

Cheerful welcome, simple process, explained the door entry card, carried my bag and after checkout, stored it for a couple of hours so I could get it later. Noted the fire door, and extinguishers. I went to hang my coat up behind the door - found there was no hook - because a coat would have covered the important notices. Well done! (Hung my coat on the bathroom door)

The room was a decent size although the bed took up most of it, so the TABLE with kettle and other stuff was only just big enough for that. Had to put everything else on bed or floor. But this is common to everywhere else in my limited experience of modern hotels.

At first sight of the place, we were not sure we had done the right thing because it just looked like a traditional boozer, hahaha! However, do not be deceived, because our room was at the back of this very popular pub/hotel, in a separate building, and it was quiet, comfortable and clean. We can't comment on the food though, since we went out to eat to get a real feel for what Buxton had to offer. We only stayed for a weekend. The staff were very polite. Very good value for money. I would go back there again.

There wasn't a great deal to moan about, to be honest

Stayed for for four nights while hiking in the Peak District. Great location with the main town bus stop right outside and train station a short walk away with decent connections in many directions. Staff were super friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. Lots of channels and streaming services on the TV. Room was very clean. Very reasonable price as well for this high level of service. Would highly recommend and hope I can stay again.

Nothing it was great

The room was spotless, with loads of space and separate controls for the heating. It had separate access from the outside, which was great. The breakfast was also very nice. We didn't expect such nice accommodation at the back of a traditional, local pub.

We stayed on a Sunday, so it wasn't busy, but i can see how on a Saturday night, for example, the beer garden could get quite full and therefore noisy just outside your window. The bathroom sink was a little bit squeezed behind the shower, but that's a minor thing.

The room was lovely, clean, nicely decorated and had a good shower in the bathroom. Fried breakfast was tasty and there was also a few types of cereal available. No restaurant in the pub on an evening but lots of choice for eating out within a minutes walk.

Bed was a little too hard for me and the curtains (although very pretty) were thin so let a lot of light in. Breakfast wasn't served until 8am, half an hour earlier would have been great. Only standard black tea and coffee in the room and served at breakfast, would have liked a green or fruit tea but overall a good stay.

Lovely bright room with great facilities. especially liked the great shower and fluffy LARGe towels!!Spacious bathroom with TWO Basins! Liked that, although part of a pub, room was away from any noise. The staff were lovely!! Nice to have plenty of tea and coffee in the room.

We didn't opt for breakfast as we don't eat too much first thing in the morning so the full £10 off would have been wasted on us. Perhaps the offer of a light breakfast might be an idea.

Nice old fashioned pub with a good selection of drinks. Staff lovely and friendly. Rooms spotless and very comfortable. Location just out of the centre of Buxton but only a 10 minute walk down the hill and several pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. Breakfast was really nice - could pick and choose from the main ‘full English’ - freshly made and hot.

Can’t fault the property though thought the drinks were expensive (£5.30 for a single vodka with a bit of coke).

both times we stayed we had a clean, comfortable room without too much external noise, despite being next to the pub courtyard on the second visit. the staff were friendly and helpful - in particular posting forgotten items to me at no extra charge. the property had indicated where public parking could be found, but there was also free on street parking within walking distance. Also a pleasant walk through the park to get to the opera house and pavilion.
