The room comforts were well thought out and everyone was very nice. Also we had three different bookings for our stay and the transition was handled smoothly.

They did not mention at the time of the booking that there are complimentary bentley rides which should be booked in advance. I noticed they had it on their website, messaged them and got no response. When we reached the hotel they said you need to book few weeks in advance since spots fill up. For afternoon tea reservation, online it said you can reserve 1 hour in advance, but on-site they told us you need to do it 24 hours in advance and it was too late by then.

The room overlooking Parker's Piece was well furnished, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was perfect and in very nice surroundings and the staff are so attentive and polite. I'd definitely stay here again on another visit to Cambridge.

The AC was noisy and the toilet flush not great but really nothing to complain about. However I was told I couldn't advance pay for parking to guarantee a slot for my classic car and when I arrived there was several reserved parking spots for other drivers, and £26 isn't exactly value even in Cambridge.

The location was brilliant and the room was super comfy. We had a giant four poster bed in a feature room overlooking the garden where there was a small table and chairs. There was a nice breakfast and we had drinks at the bar which were reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel.

Sadly the shower had a very large clump of black hair on the shower wall when we arrived. To his credit, the man behind reception gave us a free drink to apologise and asked housekeeping to clean it. However, when we returned to our room later that evening, the towels were folded yet the shower still dirty. It didn't affect the whole experience at all, it was a lovely stay however it would have been nice for it be cleaned up when we first mentioned it.

Location was fab - right next to a park, outside the madness of the busy city centre but easily walkable within 15mins. The room was large and comfortable. The coffee pods provided were delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a lovely garden area to sit in the sun. The massages we booked were lovely.

We did not appreciate that the wellness centre was not a spa - you can book treatments but there’s no pool/sauna/jacuzzi/relaxation area etc. The carpark is small and was completely full when we arrived so we used the conveniently located multi-storey next door. This was fine and easy to access but not cheap.

Excellent location and we were lucky that there was space for us to park, albeit expensive at £26 per 24 hours. The bed was very comfy although the duvet was quite heavy for this time of year (July). We had asked for a walk-in shower if possible and were given a room with that facility. We had a course each from the bar menu one evening and the quality was overall excellent although the portions rather small.

The bar is soul-less and if you want a meal in the evening this is where it is served. The cooked breakfast choice is extensive but the serve-yourself buffet, although providing quite a lot of choice is not particularly good - ie rather liquid yoghurt, a strange mix of cooked berries more like a runny jam, cold Danish pastries/croissants, rather unappetising looking cold meats, etc. It was chaotic on the Monday morning with lotsof uncleared tables, etc. although somewhat improved the following day.

The Gonville overlooks a green and is close to the old parts of Cambridge. Lovely staff. Styling is colourful.

The price we paid for a night (300) implies a degree of excellence that the Gonville has not lived up to. The casual dining was badly staffed, so the waiting time was long. Toast was served pitch black and had to be returned. The gym is a cooperation with Kelsey Kerridige, which does not offer towels (you need to inform your guests in advance); the wellness is just a beauty parlour in the garden; hot breakfast was served lukewarm and the quality was average. Curtains could not be closed properly and the tub was not really clean. The noise of the outdoors ventilator needs to be addressed.

The great central location & very comfortable bedroom. Afternoon tea on the terrace was a highlight of our stay. Live jazz music in the bar on Saturday evening was a bonus. Helpful receptionist who helped us to book a super punting trip & booked the Chop House for us.

The attitude of some of the bar staff, esp in terms of late drinks for residents. The automatic 10% service charge added to every bill automatically. The cooked breakfast was cold on Sunday. Breakfast waiting staff were also slow on taking tea orders. While we appreciated the hotel was very busy feel it should have been more organised. Breakfast today was much better.

The hotel has a fabulous feel to it its very welcoming has a lovely views at the front. Possibly one of the most comfortable nights sleep i have had in a hotel. Lovely decor and Air conditioning i could control. Very nice and relaxed breakfast with a good coffee machine breakfast was very nice.

Car parking is a problem as the spaces are very tight and it is £26 pounds to park overnight but literally 2 buildings up there is a multistorey it was safe and secure and only £ 8.90 overnight so much better value.

The Gonville Hotel was absolutely stunning - from the moment we walked into the lobby, staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms were spacious and air conditioned, with big fluffy towels and such comfy pillows. The location is incredible - a short 15 minute walk down to the river for punting, very close great restaurants on the high street, and right across the street from a gorgeous park. Staff were very attentive - we had a slight issue with our TV which was resolved within 15 minutes of calling reception. We couldn't recommend The Gonville Hotel highly enough and can't wait to return!

We stayed for one night at the Gonville Hotel on a Friday in late April as a treat to ourselves. We were met by a friendly and efficient receptionist, quickly checked in and issued two cards for the door. We entered our second floor room and were impressed by the cleanness of the room and the size of the bed. The fully equipped bathroom was spotless, too. Overall the Gonville Hotel is very clean and well appointed. We had booked a breakfast for ourselves and were glad we did with a good selection of well cooked options and a fully stocked buffet available, as well. The hotels location, on the edge of Parkers Piece, is excellent with only a short walk into the centre of Cambridge. Taken at face value, the room was a little pricey for what you get from the room alone, but add in the location and the quality of hotel’s décor, that changes to good value for money. I would recommend the Gonville Hotel for a stay in Cambridge.

One word of caution. The parking is on a first come, first served basis and, although we checked in at exactly three o’clock, we had use a disabled bay for a short time before a space opened up.
