It was fine, 24 hour check-in went smoothly. There was a proper kitchen with two three of most things like kettle, fridge, sink etc. so you're not queuing. Bed was comfy. Fairly nice sofa area by the reception. It's not really a living room, but you could certainly chill there and do your work, hang out and chat, etc.. I get the impression the place is set up for people studying or visiting the uni, that need to deal with their life and not waste time on things like noise at night or queuing in the morning.
Three of everything maybe isn't enough when it comes to showers starting the day at the same time. I didn't have to queue but the guy after me did. No drinking your own alcohol - I imagine that's a plus if you're there to study, however. They do have a bar, though. I was in a room full of people whose feet stank! 😂 Don't know if I was unlucky or if it was because the room was warm and not well venitlated.

Very clean, warm, safe, spacious, individual shower rooms, great cafeteria with good, reasonably priced food throughout the day, guest kitchen, near centre of city and station, reasonable sized bedrooms. All feels very professionally run.
Everything about the property was great. Some of the guests seemed unfamiliar with basic manners staying in a hostel, e.g. leaving clothes, shoes and bags on floor so other guests fell over them as room was completely dark at night, talking loudly to self for a long period of time about some very disturbing subjects in the middle of the night, not opening windows at all so room was stiflingly hot and very smelly at night!

The location. The day when I left not until I arrived the station, I did not know that I forgot to take my mobile phone with me. So I need to pull my luggage back to the YHA to get phone and came back to the station. I am very glad the location is very close to the station.
I asked for a lower bed and close to toilet, because I am old person. But this request was neglected. This is very dangerous for an old person at night to go to toilet. But my this request almost neglected not by this YHA but also by most of YHA I booked in this trip. Perhaps most of YHA are too used to have young people staying at their YHA. (Here I use plural, for I may forget which one have given me lower bed (the last one at Bath, after I complaint to the “top manager”?)

I left my electronic toothbrush in the room charging and after two days I called reception, they gave me instructions on how to order royal mail online and book collection. The staff have been very helpful and patient in getting my lost item back when living at the hostel. It also has good and spacious communal area and nice kitchen where you can cook. You can eat there if you don’t want to cook as they are also registered bar and restaurant which is convenient. YHA is recommended place to stay if you are in Cambridge.

It was clean and no thrills, I was just there to sleep and that’s what I got. It’s so safe and secure though, I stayed here a few years back and nothing has changed, still a lovely safe hostel
For a bigger person the beds aren’t generous and you can feel the metal slightly but I’m not mad about it because it was a bed and is expected in a hostel, had a decent stay The shared shower was in a tiny cupboard though, barely got in it because I’m a larger person.. toilet and shower could fit in the same room, would be better

It was a great location to the railway station. Especially when you have an early departure, you can just walk for a maybe 5 minutes and then you’ll reached the station. Cute and lovely place to stay for travelling in Cambridge. You can just walk to the Old Town, Cambridge University through the city, but it’s very beautiful and you will enjoy every step there. We’ve got a room for 2 persons, it was close to the bathroom and wc, which is shared with 3 rooms (I guess). Breakfast is good for the price (we took unlimited) and tasty. Employees are very kind, caring, attentive. Don’t know if this a pro or contra, but the WiFi is working only in lounge near reception, not in rooms.
None (but except the wi-fi that works only near reception)

Although I was on the top bunk, it was easy to get in and out of. The room was set up well and enough space for everyone. We even had our own sink in the room! The staff was helpful and pleasant. I was able to sit at the cafe until I was ready for bed (12:30am) and didn't feel like I was keeping anyone up or intruding.
My bed didn't have a working outlet. All other outlets were for my roommates. So, my phone didn't get charged overnight. I learned to sit in the cafe and charge it there.

Excellent location, friendly staff and the overall quality was good for a hostel in an expensive location. The lounge area was great and the kitchen good. Wifi was fast although it's only available downstairs.
Most of these problems are only small. It'd be nice if the sinks in the bathrooms were a bit bigger, especially when shaving or cleaning teeth in the morning when others are asleep. I think it'd be nice having an option for guests staying longer (+>5 days) to not have the beds next to the door, because it's quite easy to get woken up by people coming into the room in the early hours.

Staff very helpful and friendly! Room clean and shared toilet and shower very clean which is very important! Nice comfortable communal area. Close to a road full of independent restaurants - we had a lovely Middle Eastern and delicious pizza meal there. YHA very close to Cambridge Botanical Gardens do not miss that! Lovely walk into centre of town past and through various wild flower parks. Great YHA would stay again. We are family of 4. You can borrow a hairdryer from reception! There are good lockers in which to leave your luggage for the day.

I liked the fact that there was staff at reception 24hrs because my train out of Leicester was late. I phoned ahead to apologise for my delay but the staff worker assured me that there would be someone on reception so not to worry.
the room was quite hot. There was a very small window that was open, but it was still quite stuffy. I'm also 6'4 so I felt quite squished on the bunk beds, but for one night sleep at a very affordable price, I mustn't complain
