The room was lovely, clean and we appreciated the fan as the weather was hot. Great atmosphere around the site. Pretty good place for a romantic break. Dinner and Lunch were both nice, very good food. The grounds are beautiful to explore with a loved one.

The food service was a bit on the slow side. Also, we were rudely kept waiting by bartender whilst she was making a cocktail when all we wanted to ask is if we could take the remainder of our dinner to the room. We ended up walking away after 5 minutes of waiting for her, quite embarrassing. The pool is nice but a bit small. No hot tub or sports facilities but we did know this when we booked. 1 or 2 staff need a bit of training on being nice.

The staff were great in trying to resolve issues I had. They ensured I had a bottom room with a patio for my toddler to run in and out of. The view from the room is stunning and the grounds themself are so quiet and peaceful. The room itself was very clean and well decorated.

Unfortunately the pool stopped working when we arrived - this was the very reason we booked! However it was back up and running the next day and the staff allowed me a very late check out (and partial refund) as a good will gesture. The pool itself though was very grimey and the changing rooms in need of a major renovation.

This place is gorgeous. It is well looked after and there is attention to detail in almost all aspects - even down to the Penhaligons signature Halfetti bathroom products. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable, well looked after and stylish - and very good value for money. The restaurant is nicely set out with a sort of orangerie in the middle to sit in as well if you wish. The food is lovely - a menu which feels like it’s been put together with some thought, freshly cooked and served beautifully and there’s a wine list that caters for most tastes. The pool and facilities were clean and pleasant - the gym is smallish but fine. Breakfast also good - and although a buffet with a wide range of stuff, I was able to order poached eggs. Staff all friendly and amenable - nothing seemed too much trouble. Just a really lovely stay - and I stay away a lot for work and rarely write reviews but felt compelled seeing its has a low number rating.

The hotel and grounds are stunning ! The receptionist welcomed us in a kind and friendly manner. The bedroom was spacious, clean and tidy with plenty of tea and coffee options. the bathroom was also spacious and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was superb, so many options we didn’t know where to start and everything we had was absolutely delicious !

We would have liked room service but it wasn’t an option and so we ordered at the bar and brought it back to our room ourselves. More information in the room would have been handy too, we couldn’t remember what time breakfast would be served.

Location/Outside This is a wonderful pet-friendly hotel. The location was absolutely stunning and the grounds were immaculate - ideal for chilling out surrounded by nature and for dogs to explore. Interior/room The property is tastefully decorated and spotless throughout. Our room was pet-friendly (ground floor with balcony): they went above and beyond and gave us dog beds, bowls, and a small fridge for dog food. Although it was slightly small for us (we had two medium-sized dogs with us), it would be the right size for two people with one dog. It was a lovely room with a comfy bed. Food The buffet-style English breakfast (included in the price) is nice and the food at the bar and at the restaurant is excellent. There isn’t a massive choice, but that’s understandable when you prioritise quality over quantity. Facilities Gym and indoor heated swimming pool available for free of charge for all guests. I’m glad I took advantage of the pool! Staff All members of staff we came across (reception, restaurant, bar, room keeping) were exceptionally friendly, polite, and helpful (despite being understaffed)

Understaffed. Although there are two receptions in different parts of the building, only one was manned. At the desk, two receptionists: one off-duty and one available. We turned up at 3pm (check-in time) along with many others for a big party (120 people). It must have been stressful and overwhelming for the receptionist to deal with it all by herself. Another receptionist eventually arrived. Not sure if due to being understaffed, but little things like running out of ice on a Sat afternoon could be easily improved.

Room clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast choices very good. Staff in restaurant for breakfast, except chef, were very friendly and efficient.

Bathroom too small. Door almost touches basin when opened. Unable to move in bathroom. I am small so not suitable for large person. Breakfast chef(?) was most put out when I asked for plates as they had run out. Just grunted and walked away. He didn’t ensure supply of plates and everyone had to ask. He was giving death stare to someone in restaurant whole time I was there and was really scary. Not a pleasant way to enjoy breakfast. Arrived in dark and reception not well signposted.

The staff were very friendly and efficient. The reception was very nicely decorated and had drinks and snacks on offer, all very nicely packaged - which was great when wanting to buy gifts for people! The rooms were very well decorated and were comfy and clean.

There wasn't really anything I didn't like. Perhaps more tea bags, sugar and milk in the rooms and slightly bigger mugs so you can enjoy a couple of lovely cups of tea whilst looking out at the lovely grounds.

Room in the main part of the hotel very nice

Service and food. We ate in the bar. Firstly vey expensive drinks no ice? Ordered food no ketchup and service with a smile no chance. Food was very poor and at that price wetherspoons has nothing to worry about. Breakfast no earl grey tea and the only tea offering was terrible. Again service very poor. All the staff seemed to be in a foul mood. Shame lovely hotel and for a de vere vey dissatisfied

Beautiful setting and house with wonderful facilities. Every single member of staff was helpful and client-focussed. We particularly enjoyed using the library to relax and enjoyed a wonderful walk around the grounds. Restaurant has a good atmosphere even when it was quiet. Food was delicious.

Breakfast was good but there were a number of things missing and did not get replenished regularly enough. It would be great if chef could do poached eggs/omelette on demand for a healthier breakfast. There were also no low fat versions of e.g. yoghurt.

It is a beautiful property that is incredibly clean and tidy. The grounds are also very well kept. The breakfast was hands down the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. As someone with a severe gluten allergy it was refreshing to see allergy information readily available with lots of different choices for those who do have allergies. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The bar is gorgeous and has fantastic character for those looking for a relaxing drink.

The bed is small in height and the room quite small and cramped. But that was the only fault.
