Golden Eagle

We stayed here when we went to Dan Nightingales comedians club. The Golden Eagle is the perfect postion for the short walk to the venue. The staff were fantastic, very friendly, and very help full even told us about the free overnight parking 1 min walk away. The room was beautiful, and the bed was outstanding. Best nights sleep id had There is a little bit of noise from the busy downstairs pub whilst it was open, but that's to be expected when Dan Nightingale and his comedians come back after the show for drinks. Full English breakfast was outstanding, too. We will definitely be staying again

Loved the decor and friendly staff, great Ales 🍺. We had LPs and a turntable in the room, which was a real treat.

I love the fact that we got the room that was pictured! So many times, you see a picture of a great room, and you get a much smaller one! We had tickets for a gig at St Mary's, and the Golden Eagle couldn't have been much closer! Added to that, it's very close to the centre of town, too. Lovely pub, welcoming & cosy, with a vibrant atmosphere, and the room was comfortable & colourful, with a record-player and a box of records (which we would have played, if we'd had more time!) Very comfortable bed, the towels were big enough (quite rare, always appreciated!), and the breakfast was superb! We'll definitely stay again.

The shower was quite hard to adjust, and was too hot to get under for a while, but it worked out eventually. Tiny movements needed! The overhead light was quite dim. No other issues.

Great location and Martin and his staff couldn’t do enough for us. We were really made to feel welcome. The breakfast was lovely, it wasn’t even included in the main advert for the property when we booked the stay (it was included on the booking.com confirmation and by the hosts on arrival which was a bonus). The bed was very comfortable and the Tuesday night steak night was excellent and great value for money. We will definitely be going back. Thank you for making our stay so great.

We loved everything about this unique accommodation. The staff was fantastic, very welcoming. They allowed us to check in early, which was unexpected and appreciated. The rooms are all above a pub with eclectic decor. The owners have great musical taste. Our group of five had a wonderful time there. We did not know until check in that there are only three rooms upstairs so we were the only guests! Breakfast was very good. I wish we had stayed longer than one night!

Beautiful old inn in a good location. Very friendly and helpful staff and exceptional cooked breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay here. If you travel by car, there is 24 hour parking near the castle at a very good rate about a five minute walk away. There are a few parking spaces in the road in front of the inn for dropping off luggage, 15 minutes maximum stay. Don’t park in the court car park across the road, it may look like it is free but the wardens there don’t appreciate it!

Friendly landlord/lady and bar staff, Martin delivered super dupa breakfasts, steak and pizza nights 👏🏻 Pub is a gem, tucked away but within an easy walk of all the attractions Chester has to offer. Our room (number 3) was spacious, spotless with a dead comfy bed. We would definitely stay again.

Parking, however it is a short distance to the Roodee car park.

This is such a beautiful gem right in the heart of the city. Our host was very attentive and cooked us an incredible vegetarian breakfast which we really appreciated. Our room (and indeed the whole establishment) is full of character and has a lovely welcoming feel to it. We can't recommend The Golden Eagle highly enough!

Great pub in a great location, 1 mile from the train station, was a nice day so we walked it, ALL the staff were superb, helpful and very friendly, the room was great, not a bland like a modern premier inn, and it was spotlessly clean, if we go back to Chester to stay over , we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Oh and Adams chippy do great food and its just around the corner and open very late

Rooms are above a lovely welcoming pub. Beautiful rooms, quirky and elegantly decorated. Lots of thought gone into them. Had a fabulous nights sleep in a super comfy bed. Breakfast was one of the best we've had. Wish we'd have stayed for Sunday lunch

Electric shower wasn't warming up. Pulled cord to operate but still didn't warm Complely forgot to mention it at check out. I'm sure the hosts would look into it
