Lovely quaint old building with lots of character. Staff went well out of their way during our stay. The lady in charge for b/fast even took us in her car to collect our car from the wedding venue we had been at the day before as no taxis available at the time. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for everything.

Didn’t find anything whilst on our overnight stay.

It is a lovely countryside Inn with a family touch. The staff are friendly and I felt like at home. I stayed also for the dinner which was also very nice. I am happy to recommend it and I will book it again in the future.

As I was leaving early there was a misunderstanding on the breakfast, so I ended up not having any. It would have been an even better experience if they had organised a take away breakfast box.

Location was beautiful. The village absolutely delightful of a spring morning, air clean, hedgerows clear of litter and abounding with yellow daffodils and brilliant blue hyacinths. The weeping willows fresh green and cows and calves grazing in the misty morning. All viewed from the bedroom window. The Carden felt like an authentic English inn nestled in a Miss Maplesque setting. Staff were friendly and attentive. The decor felt reassuringly old and patinated. Not overdone but with a few stylish twists. The food was exceptional for the price. My steak and ale pie was homemade, wholesome and delicious. The rhubarb, apple and ginger crumble was short, crisp and with just the right amount of tang. There was no short cut with the custard and the homemade biscuit with a pleasingly hot cup of coffee rounded off a satisfying meal. The breakfast next morning, which I did not think I would need after the feast the night before, proved to be equally delicious. I opted for avocado on sourdough toast as I thought it might be a lighter start to the day. And indeed it was, avocado, which I usually find a tad 'soapy', was ripe and unctious and perfectly balanced by the little cherry tomatoes and the oozy poach egg which crowned the dish. Orange juice, which I had declined but which my husband allowed me to sample, proved to be fresh and ' not from concentrate'. The care and effort was appreciated and made for a memorable stay in Cheshire. Set us up royally for the journey to Holyhead and the ferry home. Pity I live hundreds of miles away...

In the bedroom, the door knob, while authentic brass, was very close to the lock thumbturn, making it slightly awkward to open the door. Didn't worry the wife!

The Carden Arms is the perfect country pub getaway! Nestled in an idyllic setting, it offers a charming and peaceful stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The evening meal was delicious and the continental breakfast had a great selection of fresh options to start the day. This inn is a true gem.

This is a little out of the way, but exactly what we wanted. The food in the restaurant was delicious and well presented, and we were happy with the wine list. There was a good choice for breakfast, although there was no fruit juice on offer, the pot of tea was large and a good blend. Our room was cosy, warm, and beautifully furnished, so much more than we expected for the price we paid. The coffee machine was excellent addition, and the pods refilled each day. The pub had a relaxed atmosphere and was a friendly place to spend a couple of hours putting the world to rights with a pint and a fire. The staff were all friendly and chatty with out being intrusive and nothing seemed to much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.

The breakfast tables were a bit of a squeeze, but given the room they are in I'm not sure anything could be done about this!

Beautiful old pub with many little nooks to sit and enjoy a drink. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 2 (Hackney), which was not only lovely to look at, it was extremely comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was stylish and spotless. Restaurant has a good choice of food, we stayed for 4 nights and ate breakfast and dinner there on three of the days. The food was exceptional, highly recommended.

Nothing.

Beautiful cosy room with lovely modern bathroom. It was a nice touch providing fresh milk for our tea in the bedroom but a biscuit would have also been nice. Cooked full English breakfast was perfect and they were very happy to be flexible with exactly what you wanted. Friendly staff and would definitely stay again if ever in he area.

Very friendly staff. Comfortable room, large walk in shower. Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Good pub food and traditional bar areas.

Unfortunately, the Monday and Tuesday evenings menu is less extensive than the rest of the week. We hope to return and sample the full menu in the near future.

Loved my stay at The Carden Arms. The room was very comfortable and the staff was outstanding. They went above and beyond - I was working in the area for a few days and they even gave me a lift on both mornings and served my breakfast before the official breakfast time. The pub is also very cosy and the food was delicious. Thank you so much to the whole team!

Almost everything. Has been refurbished to a very high standard whilst still respecting the age of the property.

In both the bedroom and the bathroom there was nowhere to lay out one’s things as all surfaces were “dressed “ so as to appear homely…..a nice idea, but frustrating. Biggest complaint was lighting. Electric lights not appropriate for applying makeup properly, and window in bedroom so low down one would have to kneel on floor to have natural light. While bathroom did have a window it was impossible to use as toilet bowl got in the way.
