I rate by value for money - so a £100 a night hotel that has say a loose toilet roll holder gets downgraded whereas a £50 a night hotel with a loose toilet roll holder doesn't provided it has a clean room, clean linen and towels, hot water and friendly and helpful staff. In addition this hotel had a great location, free WIFI and free parking and for the night I booked didn't even cost £50 - Fantastic value!

TV a little on the small side and a little difficult to find the car park but the room was still great value.

The staff were fantastic, especially breakfast staff. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful as were the reception staff.

Sad to say the hotel is looking tired and could do with a refurb. We were in room 2 which was a twin and there was not enough hanging space for clothes, our coats had to be put on the floor. There was no drawers so we used our suitcase as extra storage. The toilet seat was too close to the wall making it awkward to use. The room overlooked a roof which had lots of "debris" from previous hotel guests. I asked the receptionist if the hotel was aware and I was told yes but for health and safety reasons it could not be cleared. The door only had a simple lock and key which was not very secure and could have easily been opened.

I recently stayed at the inn and overall, I had a decent experience. The room I stayed in was a nice size and the bed was really comfortable. Additionally, the view of the town from my room was spectacular. It was such a treat to wake up every morning and see the charming town from my window. I would recommend the inn for its location and comfortable accommodations. However, I would caution that the cleanliness of the bathroom may not meet expectations.

I have to say that the state of the bathroom was quite off-putting. It was not clean and had an unpleasant odor and mould growth on the ceiling and around the bath. It was definitely not what I expected from a well-rated inn. Unfortunately, this made it difficult to fully enjoy my stay as I felt uncomfortable using the bathroom.

This hotel was only booked 3 days prior to our visit and was chosen for location over all. Having read a couple of poor reviews, we were a little hesitant. However we were pleasantly surprised when we checked in. The room was really clean, bedding fresh and clean, fresh towels... the decor in places is a little tired, however nothing to complain about really. Breakfast was really nice, staff friendly and obliging too. A comfortable night was had by all!

As stated above, nothing to complain about. We have stayed in higher rated hotels and been dissapointed a few times, but all in all this was really good!

Free car parking. Food was exceptional. Breakfast well worth the money. It was beautifully cooked and plentiful. Fried eggs and poached eggs both tasted and were amazing. I had an evening meal in the pub/restaurant once and it was well cooked and delicious, Staff were friendly and professional. Rooms are somewhat dated but spotlessly clean. Linens were replenished. I used my t-bags and semi skimmed milk sachets but a quick trip to reception replenished me for the next 24 hours. I would stay again.

Personally, I felt the room was too warm and I was unable to change the temperature so had to sleep with the window open. I was able to hear the clock striking every 15 mins, and bonging the hours, however it did not stop me sleeping and was quite useful to know when to go for breakfast.

A great central location, within easy walking distance of food/pubs, and the high street shops. The staff were really friendly and informative, the bed was very comfortable and the room was simple and with everything I needed. 11am checkout was great as well - that extra bit of time in the morning is always nice.

The room was quite hot without the window open, but the street outside was very loud all night - not the hotel’s fault (and it was a Friday night), but I regretted not bringing earplugs as it was a bit too warm to sleep with the window closed.

The staff were extremely polite and very helpful, very easy to talk to and all very genuine people. The room was comfortable and cozy all through out our stay here, and house keeping is incredible aswell, loved the fresh towels and bedding, To walk back into the warmth is incredible at this time of year with it still being cold out, the room was big and really nicely done up and the bed was super relaxing. Thank you so much for making my experience here more than welcoming, you are all incredible and hope you all have a great day. Can't wait to book more stays here in the future.

No complaints at all.

great location comfortable bed, evening staff on reception the two ladies . professional, helpful and lovely. credit to the hotel.

I paid extra for a family sized room, when we arrived, the male receptionist said, “ well this is the only room we have left, so you can’t have the family a family sized room” .. no apology! I asked for the refund for my room the extra I paid for the family room. “I will TRY and sort it” …still waiting! this should of been organised before we arrived as we received an confirmation email for the family room. if the room wasn’t available we paid for, we should have been updated and refunded before we arrived. communication and organisation.

We did not breakfast in the hotel but had an evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. We liked the design of the bar and eating area with its different levels, curved recesses and wrought iron work; different to the standard design of so many pub chains.

In our room there were no drawers or storage space which we would have needed if we had been staying for more than one night. In the bathroom there was no loo brush. If, in Billy Connelly’s words, one has a wee jobby that will not flush away ……….. Otherwise everything lived up to expectations.

Friendly staff and great location.

I stayed here regularly because even though the rooms aren’t great you didn’t mind because the hotel used to be good value but lately their room rates are more than other hotels in the locality which offer much better rooms, yet this hotel hasn’t upgraded their rooms or made any other improvements to justify the greater cost - they’re simply asking for more money - and as a result have now lost the one, main thing it had going for them. It’s a shame.
