The staff were absolutely great and went out of their way to accommodate every wish we had and to help with advice on local attractions and public transport. Breakfast was also excellent - the service and the food (fresh fruit, great choice of cooked breakfast items, pastry etc). The staff were very attentive and always made sure that there was enough of everything on the buffet. Our room was tastefully decorated and the reception / lounge area was also very beautiful. Parking was also good. The hotel is very conveniently located for the town centre as it is only a very short walk to pubs and restaurants. We had a nice meal one evening in the hotel restaurant. We would have gone again but the restaurant was closed due to staff shortages. This was clearly communicated in advance of our stay so we knew about it and it wasn’t a problem at all.

Really well appointed room with excellent view and breakfast buffet had good choice. Breakfast room was bright and airy. Reception staff couldn't have been more helpful Hotel is in an excellent position just a few steps away from the high street and the beach though we didn't visit that but lots of others did.

Wife, who has a sensitive nose kept mentioning a smell in the lift but a new air freshener seemed to do the trick. My main niggle is the for us always having to sit at the same table for breakfast and not being able to pick our own spot. The table number did not even match our room number so we found this puzzling.

Criccieth is a beautiful place and The Lion Hotel is situated very close to the sea. Our room had a lovely view of the castle, especially at night when it’s illuminated. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything you need for a short stay. The living room and kitchen area was great, very well equipped and the bedroom was lovely, with an en-suite and dressing table. Our stay was very comfortable and the breakfast was very nice. We ate in the pub, attached to the hotel, one night and the food was fresh and tasty and the staff very friendly.

The hot water was extremely hot, and if you travel with children, this would be something to be cautious of.

We had two apartments, the Carenarfon was much bigger than the Criccieth. Both apartments were comfy and in easy reach of the main hotel. The kitchen area was clean, though basic, and cooking is not really possible unless it's toast or microwaveable. The bathrooms were excellent and looked newly refurbished. The beds were big and comfy, and mine had a TV in the bedroom and the lounge. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast service was good, though it was buffet style with a selection of fruits, cereals and cooked.

Parking is limited, though street parking is close by. There are some steps down to the hotel, so anyone with mobility issues would need to walk around to the front of the hotel. Wheelchair users might find the hill rather steep from the high street (Criccieth, in general, is very hilly, the beach is at the bottom of a hill). Food is not available at the hotel on a Monday, and the menu is limited.

The room was clean and had a nice view of the sea. Bed was comfortable and no issue with hot water as is sometimes the case with older buildings. It was clear that some refurbishments had been done to keep things up to spec. Breakfast was buffet style and of good quality. Friday (Pizza Night) was good and much enjoyed. Decent WiFi available. Staff friendly and helpful. The building has lifts to upper floors which is useful for those who need it. I'd book again without hesitation.

General for most hotels - bacon rather undercooked for my tastes - not a deal breaker as few hotels cook bacon properly. Minor point - bedside lights were a bit wonky and fittings probably needed tightening up.

Really friendly staff who took care to talk to our son too. Location is fab as tucked just off the High St so central but nice and quiet. Own carpark. We were top floor - view of the beach and castle. Sizeable family room with adjacent space for children which was perfect - even had a second TV! Furnished nicely including a sofa to view TV. Good breakfast with freshly served coffee.

Top floor did not have a lift (stopped at floor 2) so quite a windy climb with bags to the room, but we didn't mind too much as we packed light. Room was clean and well facilitated on the whole but shower needs some TLC - a bit temperamental and aged. Didn't serve dinner on the day of arrival but recommended the local pub which was good pub food.

Breakfast (hash browns, roasted toasts), location, enough parking space

Soap wasn't re-filled and in fact, there was only one soap container with a little amount of soap, no other toiletries like shampoo at all. Other thing, but it's more minor detail that it's quite noisy in the evening until 11 pm because of the music from the bar across the road. If you have a child maybe it's not the best place to stay.

This was a great place for our 5 night stay. Everything was easily accessible in the area. The room was excellent with lots of storage, and 2 arm chairs which is always a positive for us. There were 2 windows so it was very light. We loved sitting with a drink on the garden patio. Any request or question at reception was immediately sorted, including Ffion providing us with information on the local history.

The bathroom was small but adequate, although the shower was a bit of a tight squeeze. We ate two evening meals in the hotel as it is not easy at busy times to find places to eat in Criccieth. The evening meals were mediocre and somewhat disappointing.

A decent place in a good location, within easy walking distance of the beach and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was tidy, bed reasonable and we got beautiful morning sun. Tea-making stuff etc provided. Breakfast was decent and if it's warm enough you can sit in the garden with your coffee and watch the rooks and crows chattering!

The bathroom tap water is not for drinking (tank-fed). They provide free glass bottles of water from reception but you have to make sure you've got enough for the night, especially if out celebrating! The shower was a bit insipid (eco-friendly I suppose) and the grout looked a bit grubby. None of this particularly bothered me.

What a lovely hotel! And in a lovely location! Its just a walk away from the shops, restaurants, beach and not too far to get to the castle either. The room was a lovely size with a double bed, a single bed and a sofa bed. There was plenty of wardrobe and draw space too. The room was clean and there was a bottle of water, tea bags, coffee sachets and biscuits ready for us. Breakfast was included in the price we paid and the restaurant area was lovely. It was a buffet breakfast, with lots to chose from - cooked breakfast, cereal, fruit, yoghurts etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. One lady on reception went our of her way to help me out when my 2 year old had a melt down over breakfast, which I was so grateful to her for. There's a small carpark to the back of the hotel which is great for unloading and loading your suitcases.

I cannot say there's anything I disliked about this hotel really. Yes, it's old and the deco isn't to my taste as its old fashioned but that's what makes the hotel - it has that old traditional feel.
