We had two rooms situated in the village: one had a magnificent view overlooking the river estuary and the Snowdonia hills and the other had a super view of the iconic Portmeirion village. Both rooms were very spacious, maintained to a high standard and spotlessly clean. The beds were really comfy and the rooms generally quiet. Breakfast in the Portmeirion Hotel was excellent. As well as "continental breakfast options of cheese, hams, pastries etc, there was a wide range of cooked breakfast options including "full Welsh", kippers and a wide range of egg menus all cooked to order. Everything we ate was beautifully cooked with high quality ingredients, nicely presented and served. We also had dinner a couple of times in the Portmeirion Hotel. Like breakfast, the food at dinner was super. Because of the glorious weather we enjoyed, It was really nice to be able to walk freely around the Portmeirion village and extensive grounds before the visitors arrived, and especially in the warm evenings after they had left. A bonus was the super display of rhododendrons and azaleas in the marked walks in the grounds. Finally, the village offered a nice selection cafes and shops that were open for visitors

We used Portmeirion as a base to visit Snowdonia by car, but it is not an understatement to say that own-transport is a must if you stay here.

We have been before to Portmeirion but stayed before in one of the village rooms, on this occasion we stayed in Hotel Portmeirion We were really pleased that you now park away from the hotel and are ferried in electric vehicles to the hotel which saves driving through the village. Our room was outstanding with extensive views of the Dwyryd Estuary & the mountains of Meirionnydd. The Hotel is magical & awash with history. The hotel dining room also has views of the Estuary & mountains & although that adds to the dining experience it is the food which is of an exceptional standard. This hotel is so lucky to have such a team of chefs, the food they produce is just unbelievably delicious & faultless. The staff are so friendly & helpful and I really hope that the service charge which is added to the bill is shared between all staff because they all deserve it.

Nothing. We loved everything.

Breakfast and Dinner at The Village very good, chef was very accommodating Room was quirky, homely and very clean, We felt very comfortable there. Decor just right. Garden at Castle Deudraeth was amazing Loved the scenery of the village and estuary Majority of staff were very helpful and fun Reception the gentleman was very helpful and started our experience off very well It was fun riding between Castle and Village, very organised

Breakfast could of been better at Castle Deudraeth, hash browns were so solid crispy Decoration /furniture in Castle Deudraeth dining room needs improving, just white tablecloths would make it more appealing and seem grander as it is a castle!

It’s a beautiful location. The village rooms are so quirky and we had brilliant views. The rooms have everything you need, the bed so comfy The village itself is stunning We enjoyed the food in the glas cafe We really liked that the entrance into the village was for both the day/night of your stay and the next day even after checkout. The pool was really lovely too and the loungers around the pool really comfy. A real holiday feel. We were also impressed with the staff who were all really friendly. My dad has poor mobility so we were also really glad about the buggies that staff drive about and will come and pick you up and take you wherever you want to go. This made things really easy for him. A really good service. Loved our stay.

We had an evening meal in the castle. My dad and partner had fish and chips and the fish did not have any taste at all. Pricy too at 21. But the staff were great in there

Room was excellent, very roomy, lovely view. Breakfast was also excellent, good choice, quick service. Dinner was disappointing. We ate in the hotel and in the Castle once. The Castle was the most disappointing, quite a big menu but not much choice. Food was only average when it arrived, e.g. I ordered potato, leek and cheese croquettes for a main course, I received two croquettes on the plate, with some leeks, but the cheese was not to be seen. The meals in the main hotel were definitely better, although if the stay had been longer we would both have struggled to make a second choice from the same menu.

As above, the evening meals could all have been better. It would also have been nice to have a seating area with or just outside the room.

What a pleasant surprise, the staff were amazing with my mother, so attentive, thoughtful and polite. We rang ahead to advise of her mobility and they put us in cliff house 1, perfect position and such easy access. The village was a delight, so much to see and find, lots of cafes, shops and weird and wonderful oddities. And The Prisoner plays in your room too! Breakfast was in the hotel, lovely bright room, great view and friendly staff. Excellent service and attention to presentation was spot on, tasted amazing too We ate at the castle both nights and the chef accomodated her unusual allergy with no fuss and on the 2nd evening had even pre prepped a choice of meals... outstanding service. The porters driving the buggies were so friendly and upbeat, even when they were clearly very busy. Such a nice touch having them do smartly turmed out too. Thanks for a magical stay

On the 2nd night at the castle we were in the side area which is beautiful but a huge 40th spoiled everyones service with their rude and loud actions. They disrupted the service by messing their orders up, demanding drinks then changing their mind it had a a knock on effect. Every time we requested a drink, they accosted the waitor sent in to get the order. The team kept apologising and explained they were short staffed too fue to a wedding that day in the hotel. Food and staff were still great but it would have been better if the service hadnt been so disrupted.

Great location. Large comfortable room. Very friendly and helpful staff, Very good breakfast and excellent evening meals which we had at the Castell. Easy parking and porters to move luggage.

We asked for room 12, which was confirmed through Booking.com, but when we arrived we were given room 5 which due to the large kitchen extractor fans at the back of the hotel made the room rather noisy during the day, although they were off overnight until about 6AM. We were offered a change of room but that would only have happened for the next night. Disappointed that we could not get a light lunch at the hotel due to other functions taking precedense.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful, this was a trip back in time for my 86 years old Mam, she spent time there when she was younger as my Great Aunt worked in Portmeirion Village. The accommodation was excellent and spotlessly clean, it also catered extremely well for the older generation. There were always buggies supporting us which was great for Mam, and the drivers were all friendly and very helpful. The gardens are superb and well looked after. We ate a wonderful evening meal in the castle and again, the staff there were extremely attentive, as was all the Administration support staff. Well done to everyone at Portmeirion and the Castle. I would 100% recommend staying there and visiting.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike

The food at the castle was brilliant. The food at the hotel was good but not exceptional considering the price. Breakfast very good. Views from our room in one of the properties were lovely. The hotel staff and shop keepers were delightful. I especially enjoyed the happy nature of the guys that drive the buggies up and down the hill. Beautiful gardens with lots of information available. Views of the estuary were superb.

The waiting staff seem to be mainly very young and inexperienced. On both nights our wine glasses were removed, on the first night after we had ordered wine and on the second before we had a chance to order wine. In fact we had to wait until dessert before we got wine. The waitress was more interested in setting up nearby tables for breakfast than clearing away our pile of dinner plates so we could order desert. There needs to be better training and quality control. We stayed in one of the estate properties which was charming but a bit shabby with scuff marks everywhere.

If you are a fan of gardens or "The Prisoner" this is a must stay. It's wonderful to wonder around and enjoy the fountains, and gardens along with nostalgia from the tv show. The village rooms were clean and well kept. The buildings are aging, with squeaky floor and all. The shops close early but meals can be had at the hotel in the village and at the castle. We had dinner on the patio along with several other guests. Curriers run people around in carts allowing for a feel of royalty.

I found myself wishing the shops stayed open until 7 instead of 5. I barley had time to get my ice cream. Service staff at dinner was inattentive.
