Comfortable bed, lots of pillows, tea and coffee in room, no decaf filter coffee but the staff were kind enough to look for some and bring us a cup from downstairs when they couldn't find any pods. Room was at the end of a corridor so little noise from people walking through. Lovely bar/restaurant. Fabulous cooked breakfast.

Asked for a quiet room and although it was at the end of a corridor, it did overlook the outdoor bar area so was not quiet from that perspective. Luckily it was a cold night so people went indoors and didn't keep us awake in the evening. Could not blackout the room - curtains let light in around them which meant for an early awakening. Would have liked to have seen more English wines on the menu in the restaurant - there was one sparkling but no still white wines on the menu which is a shame as England is now doing so well in wine production. Continental breakfast options were limited - would like to see some plain/fruit yoghurts as well as the granola option, plain oats and more pastries - these had run out by the time we got to breakfast which was disappointing.

Location is great, busy road, but central to everything. Beautiful period property, tastefully decorated with a lovely ambience.The comfy room was spotlessly clean and the sweet treats and welcome message were a lovely personal touch. The staff are exceptionally helpful and very pleasant. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good, my husband’s pistachio soufflé was a triumph ! Breakfast is also fantastic.

Availability of parking is a slight issue, but to be expected in an old coaching inn and reception suggested parking close by, which we had to top up during the stay to avoid a fine, but no real problem. The meal in the restaurant, although good, was not exceptional and quite expensive , but the service was amazing.

The rooms were decorated to a high standard and featured modern touches. Everywhere was clean. The staff were polite and helpful. The pre-stay communication was excellent. It is also a very dog-friendly place.

The parking is very, very limited. Dinner was good but first we were sat in a dog-friendly booth right opposite the coffee machine and staff service area. Though we moved to the bar area, which we preferred. Dinner was good but the portions weren’t generous for the price and I do think there should be a discount or some other perk for diners who are booked into stay overnight. Breakfast again was fine (but certainly not ‘fabulous’ as the booking.com listing advertises). I think they were short-staffed as we struggled to get any thing from the buffet, which was empty and no-one seemed to be re-filling it. The options for coeliacs like me were pretty much non-existent. We had been to another pub for brunch day before with far better service, portion sizes and quality of tasty foods.

Lovely hotel, well situated in Dorking on the high street. Very comfortable bedding, nice size room. In excellent state! Staff very professionnal and helpful. Evening dining on the terrace out back of the hotel was very pleasant. Lovely bar/pub/restaurant inside. Traditional fare reasonably priced.

No air conditioning, just a small fan. Couldn't open the windows more than 15 cm in order to cool (hot spell in Surrey during my stay). Although not an issue for me, to access the room was via stairway. So if you can't manage stairs, it is worth checking to see if other parts of the hotel have lifts.

Room was bright, cosy and well equipped with everything we needed, love the fact it’s dog friendly too (did have to pay a £20 surcharge for this)! Lots of little thoughtful touches and great amenities packed into a small(ish) room in a clever way. The staff were very friendly and parking was decent! Great location in the centre of Dorking with lots of great places to explore, such as Boxhill and Polesden Lacey.

Bedspread wasn’t the cleanest and when we requested plates to take up to the room on the first day, they looked like they were unwashed and used!

We travel a lot with business & for quickness we get the quicker more convenient option. On this occasion we were unable to book where we wanted so chose the White Horse (as a better alternative), it pays to "think out of the box" sometimes, definitely on this occasion. In future I will not go to the "quicker" options. I can't fault The White Horse, staff, food, accommodation were all excellent & I understand why/how they are continuously winning awards. Definitely a must! A*

There's nothing I would complain about. Rooms were perfectly adequate/comfortable, staff were more than accommodating, bar/restaurant not expensive

It's a lovely old building, everything was beautiful and well decorated. The room was very clean and welcoming. The staff were lovely. Also had dinner at the pub and it was one of the most memorable meals, really good quality food and friendly atmosphere. A really outstanding place.

At least in room 31 where we stayed you can hear and feel the music from downstairs (specially the bass) late at night (until around 11.30pm) and early in the morning (from breakfast time, 7am). It is really noticeable and can be very disturbing. It's a shame because everything else was absolutely perfect.

Beautiful period property with sensitively refurbished rooms. Both rooms we have stayed in have been homely, welcoming and very comfortable. With a hand written welcome note and petit fours on arrival, plus a mini fridge containing bottled water and fresh milk, and a coffee machine with Illy coffee (my husband was very pleased!), the rooms are thoughtfully kitted out to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. There’s no need to bring toiletries either as the bathrooms have hand soap, hand cream, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Staff are so very welcoming and friendly. They can’t do enough for you and even jiggled things around for us on a busy Friday evening so we could partake of their fish and chips (highly recommend) in the dining area.

The room we stayed in the second time had a radiator we couldn’t turn down/off so it was very hot. Even with the window open it was a little uncomfortable to sleep.

Fantastic stay, rooms are amazing. Really comfortable with everything you need. Recently refurbished and in amazing condition. The food in the restaurant was first class, only slightly let down by mean proportions. Two sausages is hardly a main course. The parking is a nightmare but will return as soon as possible.

The parking is hopeless. There are nothing like enough for residents staying and people eating in the restaurant. Cars have to park in any odd positions and makes access really difficult. There is no on street parking.

The British and local energy is so incredible - great way to get to know the country and its culture through an experience. The pub downstairs is so lovely - downtown the details. Food exceptional. The rooms were so tastefully decorated and you get a personalized note, snacks and music playing upon check in. They don’t do this kind of hospitality anymore. 10/10 would do 100x again and recommend to everyone!
